Random Thought 💭

As my birthday looms ever nearer, I begin to write my holiday lists 📝 and I do have several …..

I’m off to Africa 🐘 🦓 🦒

It’s been a dream of mine ever since I watched Wild life programs on the tv as a child. To see animals in their natural environment.

I’m beginning to compile a list of things I’d like to do ……

My husband and son are going with me, I would have loved to have taken my daughter, but I’ll carry her in my heart.

We are aiming to do a two day safari out into a reservation area. No tents ⛺️ lodges only, a dusk ride out into the area, and an early morning one.

There are also penguins to visit (Boulder Beach)

I’ll be taking a friend with me also …..

I’m taking books and my kindle also 😉 so I’m hoping to have a few reviews to post when I get back (or find a WiFi spot) if I can find WiFi I’ll post a few pictures and a quick daily post. If not, then a nice long post when I get back 💋

I’m hoping to schedule posts while I’m away (just in case I can’t find WiFi) I’m trying them at the moment (but it can be a little hit and miss, so fingers crossed they work 🤞

Is there anywhere you’ve always dreamed of going?

Saturday’s Post 🌦

Not a good day today. Not feeling 100% feeling a little under the weather. But better than yesterday.

Came into work with the delivery all over the place!!! Too many generals and not enough soldiers!!! So i got on with my prep, all the while watching the idiots !! But chatting with my best friend usually sorts things out.

Went out tonight (a Chinese meal) and a movie, but we didn’t get as far as the movie. But we did chat, we reminisced and we swapped stories.

How was your Saturday?

And for all those eagle eyed readers, yes I’ve copied and pasted the last few sentences for the last few months. But as that was the last picture I did in advance the next month should read different 😉

Book Review 📱

Talking With The Dead by Shiloh Walker

A horrific tragedy blasted open a door in young Michael O’Rourke’s mind—cursing him with the ability to talk with the Dead. Nearly two decades later, Michael has moved from victim to survivor, using his abilities to seek out those who would go unjudged.

With his gift, he talks to those who’ve died violently and seeks out their killers. Only once he’s found the murderer, can the victims be at rest. After his last case, the only thing he wants is peace and he hopes to find it in the small town of Mitchell, Indiana.

But something is horribly wrong—the dead are waiting for him there, as well.

Small town sheriff Daisy Crandall is frustrated. The murder investigation she’s leading is going nowhere, the few leads she’s had haven’t panned out. She needs a break—this case is personal and when a stranger arrives, turning up where he shouldn’t be, she’s suspicious. Finding out that he is more than what he appears to be should shock her but doesn’t. The fact she’s highly attracted to him at the worst possible time is a hindrance.

Unfortunately, teaming up with Michael is the only way.

Now it’s a race against time before the killer destroys the life of his next victim…

My Review ……

Micheal/Mikey has lived a solitary life, he had done ever since the only person he loved was taken from him…..

Daisy moved from the Louisiana to Mitchell in Indiana for a slower pace of life, but wouldn’t you know it, that’s not going to happen, six murders in her town and no damn clues as to who is it, or where he will stroke next. It’s so frustrating, all she needs is one lucky break, then she’s going to hunt this bastard down and take him out …..

Driving into Mitchell, (Indiana) Micheal thinks he’ll get a break, he needs a little peace and solitude. He’s a cop, and a good one, but his last case was a bad one, a rapist and a killer, but the killer got his comeuppance (his last victim literally stopped his heart!)

Daisy is both irritated and intrigued at the stranger before her. He seems like an ok guy, but is it a coincidence that he’s here? Could he have knowledge of the murders? Or is he part of it?

I really liked this prequel, I had wished it to be longer, there was a few things wrong with it, in parts it felt a little jumpy, and things were wrapped up a little too quick and neat. I understand it’s a novella, but we could have had a little more of the murders background and thought process.

Friday’s Post 🌤

Started off a little chilly this morning, and by the end of the day …. sun is out and it’s humid.

Work was steady today. Managed to get everything I needed to do. Helped clear tables for the waitresses. Tomorrow is delivery day!!! Wondering who is in tomorrow morning (and will I have to run around because the delivery hasn’t been put away?)

How was your Friday?

Random Thought 💭

A trip to the hairdressers ……

After work I had a hair appointment. I don’t get my hair cut very often. I usually have better things to do with my money. But as I’m going away soon, I thought it was time for a trim. But I usually go from long hair to short (if your going to get a cut, then make the cut worthwhile)

My hair before I got it cut ….. as you can see it’s pretty long, and my grey is pretty noticeable. Again I only colour my hair once in a while. The hairdresser was really nice, put me at ease, and we chatted about the holiday.

so this is my new style. I’m happy with it, shouldn’t take long to wash and dry, will take a little practise to style it (long hair gets brushed then put up)

I have an eight week appointment to go back.

Thursday’s Post 🌤

Day off ☕️😀

Not so hot today. So I managed to get a fair bit of shopping done (still couldn’t find what I wanted though) needed a pair of trousers for my holiday. And I had a walk around town.

Popped into my favourite shop……

The UK book stores are such a disappointment compared to the USA. They have huge selections of paranormal romance (all my favourite authors) we are lucky if we get a few shelves, and then not many of my favourite authors are stocked (it seems a lot of books are ones customers have ordered and not collected.

popped up to see my daughter and give her a tidy up.

Lunch with a friend and a really nice chat.

How did you spend your Thursday?

Random Thought 💭

Saw this and had to share …..

When you’re deciding between getting a cup of hot coffee or a cold brew, you may base your decision on your mood or what the weather is like outside. While temperature is an obvious difference between the two, it isn’t the only thing. According to experts, there are some surprising differences in the health benefits of drinking hot coffee and iced coffee.

The benefits of drinking coffee, regardless of temperature, are numerous. When consumed in moderation coffee can help to reduce depression, lower your risk for getting diabetes, improve your workouts, and give your brain a good boost. A 2018 study published in JAMA Internal Medicine, found that drinking coffee can also help you live longer.

If you have a preference for iced coffee or cold brews, Dr. Maheinthan Yogeswaran, a general practitioner with Medicspot, tells Bustle, there are benefits to drinking it over hot coffee. For instance, iced coffee is known to be less acidic. “This is calmer on your digestive system so you’re less likely to have an upset stomach after drinking your cup of joe cold,” Dr. Yogeswaran says. Less acidity is also better for maintaining healthy teeth.

Although cold-brewed coffee became a rising star in the health field over the last few years, hot coffee still has some significant advantages.

So here are some surprising health benefits of drinking hot coffee versus drinking iced coffee, according to experts.

1. Coffee Has More Antioxidants

In a 2018 study published in Scientific Reports, researchers from Thomas Jefferson University found “chemical differences” between hot and cold brew coffees. Hot coffee was found to have higher levels of antioxidants than cold brew, which makes it slightly more healthy. This is important because antioxidants are responsible for the health benefits you get from coffee. According to Dr. Nikola Djordjevic, MD from DisturbMeNot, the benefits of antioxidants in coffee include a lower risk of cancer, heart disease, liver disease, diabetes, and premature death.

2. Cold Brews Generally Have Less Caffeine

The amount of caffeine in your coffee can vary based on where you’re getting your coffee from. “Generally speaking, cold brew contains less caffeine which is a benefit for those who really crave a second cup of coffee but feel a little shaky,” Jordan Karcher, coffee expert and founder of Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co., tells Bustle. Cold brews typically contain around 40mg of caffeine per 100g, while hot coffee contains roughly 60mg per 100g of coffee. Benefits of consuming less caffeine include getting better sleep, more balanced hormones in women, and lower blood pressure.

3. Hot Coffee Can Put You In A More Pleasant And Generous Mood

A cup of hot coffee in the morning may actually put you in a more positive mindset,” Adoni says. In fact, a 2009 study published in the journal Science found that experiencing physical warmth, like holding a cup of hot coffee, can increase feelings of interpersonal warmth. In a series of studies, researchers split participants in two groups. One group was told to briefly hold a cup of hot coffee, while the other held iced coffee. Participants who held a cup of hot coffee were more likely to see others as being generous, caring, and warm. They were also more likely to choose a gift for their friend over themselves.

4. Iced Coffee Can Help To Prevent A Heart Attack

Coffee can be very beneficial to your health because it’s a good source of antioxidants, which helps to protect you from many diseases. But iced coffee is especially helpful in protecting you against heart attacks. As Dr. Yogeswaran says, “Iced coffee is surprisingly helpful as it contains compounds such as caffeine, magnesium, trigonelline and phenolic compounds that can work by both stabilizing your blood pressure, increasing insulin sensitivity and lowering blood pressure.” A 2017 University of Colorado study found that drinking coffee every week — no matter what temperature — can help to reduce your chances of getting a heart attack by 7%.

5. A Whiff Of Hot Coffee In The Morning Can Wake You Up And Make You Feel Less Stressed

Sometimes you don’t even need to drink coffee in order to receive its benefits. A 2008 study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that the aroma of coffee can alter the activity of certain genes in the brain. In a study of sleep deprived lab rats, researchers found different gene expressions between rats that were able to sniff the coffee and those that didn’t. As it was found, just one whiff of hot coffee was enough to reduce the effects of sleep deprivation like stress and tiredness. More research needs to be done to make any conclusions on the effects of coffee aroma on humans.

In general, coffee in moderation can be good for you so it doesn’t really matter which type of coffee you choose to drink. Both hot coffee and iced coffee have their share of health benefits. These are just a few notable differences to be aware of.

I love my coffee ☕️

Wednesday’s Post 🌤

Another hot day today.

And a busy day at work. People making the most of the last days of summer and school holidays.

Day off tomorrow and a busy day planned. Hoping the weather isn’t as hot tomorrow.

How did you spend your Wednesday?

Tuesday’s Post ☀️

Another hot day!!! Another unbearably hot day in the kitchen. Delivery was a quick affair (couldn’t let the frozen defrost) and I did it all on my own 😉I had a system that works, then getting on with my prep before most of the kitchen staff got in.

Guests making the most of our beer garden again today. And chasing people for my tongs, and watching as they descend on the warm rolls.

Helped the waitresses clear their tables, and cleared up the boxes in the yard. So a hot, but productive day.

How was your Tuesday?

Monday’s Post ☀️

Oh my ….. today was HOT!!! Work was unbelievably hot. Thank goodness I don’t work on the griddle.

We thought we’d be relatively quiet, it’s was a bank holiday in the UK (everyone wants to go to the coast or do BBQ’s) but no, it seemed like the world and his wife were in our beer garden today!!! And they all seem to want food!!

A bank holiday is a national public holiday in the United Kingdom. … The term refers to all public holidays in the United Kingdom be they set out in statute, declared by royal proclamation or common law. There are eight holidays a year in England.
How did you spend your Monday?

Random Thought 💭

Is It Ever Acceptable To Recline Your Seat On A Flight? A Guide To Getting It Right…..

As you know I’m thinking of going on holiday soon. My plans will pop up soon in my blog……

So what is the etiquette for reclining on flights? It’s a divisive topic, that’s for sure. A poll by Skyscanner found some view it as “inconsiderate” and believe it’s never ok to recline, while others think it’s ok as long as you ask first.

Some consider it 100% unacceptable on shorter flights, while others believe that they should absolutely be able to recline regardless of flight duration – one person went as far as saying anyone with a problem should pay the extra money to sit in premium economy.

Rupert Wesson, academy director of Debrett’s, the authority on etiquette training in the UK, tells HuffPost UK: “The seats on most aircraft are designed to recline and so of course it is acceptable, but that does not mean that it should be done without care and consideration for the person sat behind.”

If a meal is about to be served there’s no point in reclining “because you will only have to put it back up again”, he says. And in his view, you don’t need to ask permission to recline – but it’s important to do it carefully and check that you are not going to knock over drinks, laptops and iPads when you do so.

“A quick glance to check will also indicate to the person behind that you going to recline which is always helpful,” he adds.

My Opinion……

I try not to lay back in my seat, I always feel for the person behind me, that’s not to say the person in front of me has the same consideration.

I have children think their seat is a toy, I’ve also had adults that can’t get comfy, and will spend most of the flight up and down ….

I remember one time my daughter was sat in her seat (she had her bag to keep her occupied, toys, snacks and colouring) and this man in front of her kept bouncing around in his seat, the seat went back, the seat went up, he must have done it for a good 5 solid minutes. My daughter daughter calmly stuck her head through the seats and asked if he wanted a snack or a colouring book, as he couldn’t keep still 😊

Sunday’s Post ☀️

Went to visit my son today. The weather was lovely (if a little hot) a walk along The River Thames (he lives in Kingston) it was lovely spending time with him. And took reading material in the form of my kindle. Didn’t get to read much😉but just in case I had something to read 😀

What did you do today?

Saturday’s Post☀️

Saturday is here again. So was the delivery, but as I’m on a new timetable, it should have been put away. Well it was mostly put away, but boxes were left everywhere!!! But I didn’t have time to tidy up. I had to prep for lunch.

Weather was sunny and hot, so the beer garden was really busy. I gave a quick hand bringing in glasses and plates.

walking home in the sun chatting to my best friend, I walked to the supermarket, from there I shopped and grabbed stuff for the week.

Off to see my son tomorrow 😊

How was your Saturday?

Friday’s Post

Almost the weekend 😊It’s Friday, so here’s Friday’s drink. If you try it, send me a picture 😉

A walk to work In the sun. And a chat with my best friend (always a good start to my day)

An extremely busy day at work. Lots of guests enjoying the sun. Making more work for me 🤦🏻‍♀️ don’t you jut love it when parents can’t or won’t control their kids!! We had so many running around, it got to the stage I was worried someone would have an accident.

My shift ended without incident 😀

My walk home was a warm one, the sun was out and in my face for most of the walk home.

How was your Friday? And what are your plans for the weekend?

Thursday’s Post 🌤

Had a meeting (staff training) at work today ……. yes it was my day off, but it was early enough not to clash with meeting my best friend.

What a waste of time, yes I got paid, yes it was only an hour, but to teach us stuff that as fast as I’m concerned is management duties, most of us really didn’t need to know. I felt it was more hands to help with delivery (which if I was left doing my normal hours there would have been enough people in) but it got rotated correctly (because I did it) so I look on it as a plus.

This was the film we watched this afternoon (basically a remake of the original) but the filmmaker said it was suppose to be the sequel (but all I saw was basically the same stuff with new faces) it was a good film, but the original was better.

Popped up to see my daughters at her grave. A little food shopping, grabbed lunch, and then spent a really nice afternoon with my best friend.

How did you spend your Thursday?

Wednesday’s Post 🌤

Walking to work today I had the chance to listen to an audio book. I tend to chat to my best friend on the way to work, but a prior commitment had us changing it up for today, so I listened to my favourite author (Christine Feehan) one of her Dark Carpathian Series. I also got to stop and grab a coffee.

Work today had just three of us in the kitchen, but we managed (probably helped it wasn’t too busy, guests were popping in for a drink rather than food)

Day off tomorrow, but before having fun I have to go to work (an hour of training) then as long as the sun behaves a coffee in the sunshine with my friend.

What are you up to tomorrow?

Book 6: RYDER
Book 7: WOLF

My Review…….

Ooooooooh Biker vampires 😉 the back Cover has me interested (but I’ll have to admit this has been on my kindle for a while) 😏
Kane “Viper” Tepes is the leader (or president) of the local biker group (motorcycles and not bicycles 😂)
Cara had run away from her town of Pleasant, but now she’s back, and looking for answers.
Let’s start from the beginning…..
Kane is pissed, someone has killed his “donor” and as he’s hasn’t fed in three days, he’s not happy. He’s sad, she didn’t deserve that type of death (her throat had been cut, and drained of blood!) and to make matters worse, the local cops think it’s him!!
Cara remembers Kane, she’s not been able to forget him, not even after ten years. He was a bad boy then, and after seeing him have sex with a woman in the bathroom, she was hooked, but she saw him bite her, and that scared the hell out of her, and she left home not long after that. But she’s not a young girl anymore, the MC that Kane runs is prime suspect in several murders, so “detective” Brahnam is off to question the group, and she won’t take any rubbish.
Kane isn’t happy, stupid cops are always trying to bust him or his “brothers” but this time it’s not them, and they need to work with the cops to find out who is killing the humans.
We find out in the book that there are various types of vampires. Primordial (an original vampire) is the oldest and strongest. And there is a royal line (Vlad the impaler or Dracula) and Kane comes from that line, but he’s not an original/Primordial. He’s strong, but one on one, he’d lose to the primordial vampire.
Cara and Kane get close, and things get interesting from there one…. we find out Kane had a son and a mate!!! The son died, and Kane holds his “mate” responsible. He doesn’t want to risk his heart again, but with Cara, it’s becoming harder and harder not to fall under her spell. And if his gang find out he’s sleeping with her and taking her blood, it could get him thrown out of the gang.
Cara can’t help but find the vampire fascinating and scary at the same time, but the more time she selves with Kane, the harder it is to believe he had anything to do with the murders.
So, who is killing these women? And will Cara be next on the list? And if the “Sons of Sangue” find out their president is breaking their rules they live by, then how will the react?
Wow!!! What a really good book. From the first page to the last full stop, I was totally gripped (hey I like vampires what can I say?) very descriptive, the characters came to life, and now I need to read the rest of the series. When I read this book. It was free on amazon, so I urge you to go and grab it.

Tuesday’s Post⛅️

My later shift was suppose to had me coming in at 11, then going straight to bringing out the salads to the salad cart. No helping the delivery, not setting up the kitchen. Did that happen today? No it didn’t!! I ended up playing catch up for the rest of my shift!!

Getting home I popped on dinner, then put away clothes. I’ve started sorting my clothes for my holiday. Making a list of stuff I need (shampoo, body wash etc) deciding on which books I’ll take with me….. I take books, then leave them on holiday for other people to enjoy. I have to admit I don’t leave any of my favourite authors, these are the ones I’ve picked up in charity shops.

How was your Tuesday?

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

Fae Hunter: Semester 2 (Slayer Academy) by Amelia Shaw.

From Fae Slayer to renegade rebel.
Slayer Academy 101:
•The Fae are evil
•A Slayer must trust their instincts.

Well, my instincts are flashing like a neon sign—the Academy can’t be trusted.
I’ve glimpsed the true heart of a Fae prince. Fiore is kind, merciful and saved my life.
Now he’s missing.

Journeying to the Fae realm is treacherous, especially with Nyeer, the Fae prince who tried to kill me.
But loathing soon turns to lust and Nyeer strips away my defenses—along with my clothes— until my heart’s in just as much danger as my life.

This Fae Slaying gig is not all it’s cracked up to be.
Magic lessons and weapons classes were child’s play compared to the fight to rescue Fiore and protect the Fae Kingdom.
And to save three Fae princes, their Kingdom’s only defense… I may have to give them up forever.

Author warning: This book is much hotter than book 1. ***Fae Hunter is the second book in a College-age Paranormal Reverse Harem Academy series.

My Review….

Reading the description I got the distinct impression our Meg is turning into a little slut!!! (Well she slept with Brutus, she’s been having sexy dreams about Fiore, and now she’s turned her attention to Nyeer) I can’t keep up with the girl😉

We start this book at the beginning of a new term, Meg has just spent the last two weeks at her parents, catching up with her BFF and family. But now she’s back, her mission is clear …… Find evidence that the Fae aren’t as bad as the history books say they are.

Megara/Meg has decided that she’s not going to hunt and kill the evil Fae, she’s going to find out what the truth is, and she feels like the Fae have had a raw deal for centuries. But proving it will be difficult, she can’t tell her roommates, she can’t tell Brutus (sparring partner and part time lover) she can’t even ask the librarian. She’s on this  mission alone. She just needs to speak to Fiore or Nyeer (one of the Fae leaders)

She gets her wish sooner than she anticipated, a portal opens and a figure emerges…..

Fiore is missing!!! Meg needs to do something, she feels like it’s her fault. She needs to do research whilst waiting for Nyeer to return in three days time.

After meeting up with Nyeer, he takes her back to his castle (he is one of the three princes that rules the Fae kingdom, Fiore being one of the others)

Teaching Meg defence movements has her all hot and bothered, and before you know it Meg and Nyeer are going at it like bunny rabbits (this not I found a bit disconcerting, if there is a connection between Fiore and Meg, why is she in bed with Nyeer?)

The third prince (Everly) makes an appearance at the castle and is disgusted that no one is looking for the third Prince (Fiore) Meg is feeling really guilty and steps up the attempts to find Fiore……

With luck and a little magic, they find where Fiore is being held, and plan a rescue.

Do they rescue Fiore? Will Megara have to chose? And who will it be?

And boy is it a cliffhanger ending……

This book is more racer than the first, it felt like it was heading towards a reverse harem (three guys one woman)

Monday’s Post 🌦

I think poor Mother Nature must be hitting her menopause….. we had rain, sun, rain with sun!!! I don’t think she know which way was up today.

Today I started a later shift (will take a few days to adjust) the starting later was ok, it was finishing an hour later that threw me (several colleagues had to remind me not to leave at 4😂)

Had a nice chat with my son on the phone this evening, off to see him on Sunday (getting a few things sorted for our holiday) and then a chat with my dad, not too long as he was going out for dinner (the warden in the home he lives in invited him over for dinner in the main lunch hall)

How was your Monday ?

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

The Legacy: Semester 1 (Slayer Academy) by Amelia Shaw

From nerdy bookworm to Fae Slayer in training.

My life is carefully planned, and blissfully free of surprises. I hate surprises.
Discovering I come from a long line of Fae Slayers and must give up my position at a prestigious college to attend a Slayer Academy?Worst. Surprise. Ever.I’m a nerd. A bookworm. I slay with words, not swords.Fighting to stay at the top of the class is nothing compared to fighting to survive. If the deadly weapons and mysteriously hot, but possibly evil guys don’t kill me, then six months without cell reception might.
He haunts my dreams… His eyes pierce my soul.. but will my sword have to pierce his heart?
Megara’s battle to survive Slayer Academy has just begun. Weapons classes, unexpected passion, and forbidden love await in The Legacy…

The legacy is the first book in a New Adult, college-age paranormal academy series. Expect magic lessons, a bookworm heroine, a sexy scene or two,and a slow-burn forbidden love romance

***Author note – this series is three novella length urban fantasy books. Recommended 17+ due to language and love scenes.

My Review…..
Reading the back cover, I got the impression of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I liked that show, so I flipped the kindle open and dived in…..
Megara (or Meg to her friends) is not a kick ass warrior woman, Meg is a book worm, she’s not use to fighting and certainly not monsters. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s go back …..
Meg is off to do a gap year before deciding what’s next in her life she very excited. But her whole world is about to change, and in her opinion, not for the better.
She’s unaware that both her parents are Fae slayers (and are pretty good at their job) and it’s time for their daughter to leave this life and enrol in Slayer Academy, to say that Megara is shocked and displeased is an understatement…… she’s thinking it’s a big joke, but as it sinks in, she realises her family are serious, they are going to shop her off to some school….
Arriving at the front of the academy Megara is in awe of the building, but she’s also a little apprehensive, it doesn’t look too friendly, and the nerves Meg had been suppressing, come back big a bang (this is all some terrible dream).
We meet other class mates (and that wasn’t a great first meeting) they aren’t impressed, the Callum’s are great warriors and hunters of the Fae, and Meg, well she’s a big disappointment!!!
We then read all the fun times (not) with weaponry (she’s no good with swords) and her hand to hand skills are a joke!!! But the other lessons, Meg is a keen student and makes the grades.
And it’s not teenage angst unless there is a love story…. and this one will be a forbidden one, why? Is Fiore Fae ?  And if so, that’s a big NO NO in the slayer world, they can’t and shouldn’t be together, but you try telling a teenager NO😉and Fiore (that’s the hunks name) is definitely worth disobeying everyone for. There is just something about him (besides being hot) there is a connection Megara has never felt with anyone before. But there is also that element of danger that keeps Meg from falling too deep.
We also have Brutus (a student at the school) there is definitely a spark between them, so we could have a love triangle😉
Oh and did I mention a Legacy? (Well the title does give it away) it’s her legacy, five generations of her family have attended and have slain the evil Fae. Is there more to her legacy (I have a feeling there is)
So if you like heroines that’s aren’t warriors, that are nerds first and foremost, then you definitely need to pick this book up.
And book two….. if it’s half as good as this one, then I’m in.

Sunday’s Post🌧

Sunday morning brings a little rain, so after waiting till lunchtime, we pop out to do some shopping and to visit our daughter’s grave. Going into town I went looking for a couple of t-shirts to take on holiday. Finding nothing in my size we came home. After ringing my best friend (that always puts me in a better mood) I put the last wash load in, and hung another load on the clothes airer. I then got down to completing the last few reviews for the blog I guest review for.

Tidied my blog page up, and then set about starting dinner.

How was your Sunday?

The Secret About Time (The Firemark Series) Book 1. By Kathryn Murphy
Austin Brooks is almost one hundred-years-old, but he, like all of the residents of Brightrock Island, doesn’t age normally. The tight-knit community off the coast of Massachusetts has a closely-guarded secret—they’ve discovered the fountain of youth. In an effort to escape his painful memories of World War II, Austin has settled into his job at Brightrock’s only school as the funny guy, Mr. Fix It, on track to becoming a principal. Then new teacher Caitlyn Landry arrives from the mainland, throwing all life on Brightrock—especially Austin’s—into chaos.
After suffering several major losses, Caitlyn is looking for a fresh start. Brightrock doesn’t take kindly to outsiders, but Caitlyn was a necessary hire, and when Austin is tasked with mentoring her, he discovers keeping his lips sealed is easier said than done. With her own regrets and mistakes haunting her, Caitlyn is hardly looking for love, but the more time she spends with Austin, the harder it is for either of them to keep their distance. But what no one on Brightrock knows is that someone is on to their secret, someone who poses a threat to everyone on the island, leaving Austin to decide between his loyalty to Brightrock and his desire to fight for the woman he can’t live without.
My Review…..
To look at Austin, you wouldn’t think he was nearly one hundred years old!!! Time and the residents of Brightrock are different from “outsiders” it’s a slower pace, and the residents age differently too.
Austin is a jack of all trades at the school, nothing he can’t turn his hand too, he’s worked hard to forget his past, and becoming principal at the school will keep him pretty occupied. So when members of his community tell Austin they’ve hired an “outsider” to teach at the school, he’s not too keen, he is not keen at all!!! They have too many secrets to keep from the new teacher, it’s going to be tough. Will Austin rise above it?
Caitlyn needs a break, after losing her parents and
And this seems like too good an opportunity to miss. But on the way over to the island, she’s hit with doubts. And meeting Austin doesn’t help, she gets the distinct impression she’s not welcome!!
Both settle into the roles they are given, and try to keep out out of each other’s way, but with fate playing its hand, it’s not long till they start bumping into each other.
Caitlyn still feels like an outsider, the role she’s taken on doesn’t really feel like hers, it feels like she’s only there till the person she’s filling in for comes back!! And her feelings for Austin confuse her too, but she can’t get involved, it hurts too much, to lose someone you love.
Austin is beginning to look at Caitlyn in a different way. She’s smart, fun and totally hot. And after seeing her in a World War II outfit, Austin wants more than a kiss, much more ……
But something or someone has noticed the residents on Brightrock are different. What is in store for Austin and his friend? And how will it involve Caitlyn?

She’s Got Game (Gamer Girls Book 1) by Laura Heffernan

Back Cover……

Travel blogger Gwen Williams is about to live the dream—competing in the annual American Board Game Championship. She’s up against some stiff competition, namely legendary gamer and four-time champ Cody McKay. The seriously buff hottie and shameless flirt is going all-out to seduce her. That’s when Gwen lays her cards on the table: She never, ever mixes gaming with romance . . . until resisting Cody becomes a losing proposition.

As Gwen gives in to temptation, everything’s in play for a major heartache. With the rounds heating up and players eliminated, she knows she’s gambling a lot more than a seat at the final table in Vegas. But Cody’s kisses promise more than a fleeting romance. If she plays her cards right, Gwen just might walk off with the championship and the man of her dreams.

My Review….

Living your life playing games, it seems like a great life.
Gwen is also a blogger, and likes (no loves it) to travel. Reading the description, I did wonder if Gwen was more of a dungeon and dragon type player. (The game was fairly simple. Players rolled a pair of dice, then collected cards with different “resources” on them. The resources could be discarded to build various structures. A bad roll could result in losing cards, and the first player who got to ten points won.)

Cody loves to win, and there is nothing he won’t do to make sure he comes out on top. He seems like a nice guy, until he hits the tables, then all bets are off.

Cody and Gwen meet at the gaming tables. There is lots of “trash talk” and a little flirting. But although Gwen finds him cute, she won’t date a gamer. (She did once and got taken advantage of, so she swore never again) But as the games proceed, Gwen is finding it harder and harder to resist him.

Then the inevitable happens ….. Gwen doesn’t know how to process the night they spend together, her emotions are running high, she second guesses everything.

So will Gwen give Cody another chance? What happens when the game ends?
You’ll need to read to find out 😉

Well written and thought out. Hoping Shannon and Holly get stories and they are Gwen’s best friends.

That was a fun read 😊

Saturday’s Post ⛅️

Weather is a funny thing, your soaked through one day, and it’s totally miserable, and then the next day it’s clear skies and sun peaks through the clouds. Your never sure what you need to wear or put in your bag (sun lotion or an umbrella)

Delivery day sees me organising the walk in fridge (I have a system, it seems to work) the young man helping me today, was more of a hindrance than a help. So by the time I’d put the frozen away and the tins and dry goods, he’d made such a mess of the fridge, I just rolled my eyes, went and made a phone call to chat to my best friend, then came back and sorted it all out (and once again it’s back where it’s suppose to be)

Managed a little review reading and first wash load in, I’ll snatch up with the rest of the washing tomorrow.

How was your Saturday?

Queen of Vampire Hearts book 1 (Fates Loves Series) by Jeanette Rose

A Woman Fleeing Persecution…

Phoebe Atreus is a witch on the run, her carefully crafted rules have kept her alive for the last decade, each one a product of a hard learned lesson. Rule Number One? Trust No One. She’s been betrayed one time too many to put her faith in anyone else’s hands. Even if the legendary vampire king might be the one person who could protect her from the enemies always one step behind.

A Man Whose Abandonment Issues Span Thousands of Years…

Lucien Silvano has been king of the vampires for the last three thousand years, he’s fought in wars that have been reduced to legend, rescued damsels in distress, seduced said damsels, and moved on.

Immortal life has become a never-ending battle against boredom. Nothing has truly stirred his interest in years , except her. She’s the exception to every rule, his Queen, his mate, the one-person Fate declared to be his. The problem? She wants nothing to do with him. What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Phoebe refuses to share her past with Lucien, pushing him away at every opportunity, yet unable to resist the chemistry that explodes whenever they are together. Forced back to his castle in Romania to live as his Queen, she starts to forget the rules that have kept her safe…until the secrets Lucien has been hiding remind her why she created the rules in the first place.

My Review……

lucien is a bored vampire king, after living for so long, nothing really holds his interest. So whilst planning his new war, he’s totally unprepared for when he meets HER!!! Her scent, her body, all are driving him to distraction. He must possess her, his need for her is nothing like he’s ever known!!!

Phoebe lives by a few simple rules, and these have kept her in good stead for many years. But coming to an orgy?! Not one of her best ideas, but she needs to be here, and she needs to find a demon that can help her, she’s been running and hiding for so long. And now it needs to stop, she’s been told the demon she needs to help her is here, so Phoebe needs to get in, find him, and then get out, before they find her!!

Their first meeting is at an orgy. Both are overcome with feelings for one another. But when Lucien is called away, Phoebe uses her magic to escape, she hasn’t got time for him, the people hunting her are coming ever closer, and Lucien could and would be a distraction.

Lucien has finally found someone to be at his side forever. But his happiness is short lived. She disappears on him (several times in fact) She wants nothing to do with him! She won’t tell him anything of her life before they met, and she gives him nothing but her body, she is hiding something, but what? Is it something he can help her with? There is nothing he wouldn’t do for her, but she shuns his help, and his company. She’s driving him mad!!!

Phoebe wants to trust this vampire, her heart and body yearns for him, and the more time she spends with him, the harder it is to distance herself. But when your parents are murdered and your ex lover steals the family Grimoire’s (spell books) it doesn’t help. And the Witches council want her dead (she might have accidentally killed a few when questioning her about the disappearance of the books) You can see why she had trust issues.

Lucien manages to get Phoebe to his castle (handcuffs were involved)😉there he intends to show her what her life could be like if she stays with him. Phoebe (isn’t impressed with being kidnapped) could happily live with her vampire king, she could totally be the next queen. But there is just something Phoebe can’t quite put her finger on.

And when Lucien’s secrets start to rear their ugly head, Phoebe has two choices, run or accept them and try to work through them…

I really liked this book, it made a change for the hero to work at winning his female. (Yes there are a few cheesy moments, and a few corny one liners, but you can overlook them. The plot is solid and the characters are well written.

It does jump around a little, and we go from characters point of view to the third person a lot, but once you get past the first few chapters, you settle into the rhythm and style of writing.

It’s the start of a new series, and the author has plans for a further 13/14 more books in the series (next one is out possibly in November) the author says they will be able to standalone, will there be glimpses of past characters? And who will be next?

Friday’s Post 🌧

Cheers, a drink for you to try, sounds nice 😋

Rain, rain and more rain today ☔️ hardly any stock in, so I couldn’t prep much, hoping they aren’t too busy tonight.

Reading a few review books and starting to make notes. I have a few to do, and I do like a challenge 🤓

How was your Friday?

Thursday’s Post ⛅️

A nice sunny day (big change from the rain yesterday) so I popped up to see Kim, then into town to grab a few things. Lunch at my friends home. We watched an episode of “orange is the new black” and a film “await further instructions

On Christmas Day, a family wakes up to find a mysterious black substance surrounding its house, and its TV screen broadcasts a single message: “Stay Indoors and Await Further Instructions.”

Bear’s Temptation by Fay Walsh

She will soon find out that uncovering the truth, is a dangerous game to play…

Darren is the beta of the Hoopole Bears.

He appears as a cold-hearted and rude businessman, but no-one knows what he has been hiding.

Not even his own clan…

Now, this journalist is on to him, threatening to throw away his mask. He can’t let her unveil the truth and wake his forgotten feelings.

Lisa is sure that Darren is more than he claims to be.

Even if their first meeting was disastrous, she knows that she will discover the truth.

Maybe what she hears in whispers isn’t far from reality…

And yet, why can’t she reveal to the world what she has found out?

Why does she want to protect him?

But, what Lisa doesn’t know is that she is playing a dangerous game. A game that will almost kill her.

Unless a bear comes to her rescue…

What can a shifter and his mate do when his past ties them in a deadly game?

My Review…..

Lisa is a struggling journalist, but getting this job could be her big break, but she’s heard this man is so rude!!! Hoping it’s just his PR hyping him up, Lisa goes to interview him.

Boy were they right!!! Rude and arrogant (but kind of hot) she gets a story from him (think 50 shades) and thinks that is the last time she will see him…..

Darren really can’t be doing with people (especially humans) he’s a bear shifter, beta to the little group he lives with. He’s not a sociable person (he really is a grumpy bear) he only just gets along with his group. We have met Darren before (A Bear of her own)

We get the feeling Darren is hiding something, you also get the feeling he was hurt. Wether as a child or as an adult.

He isn’t interested in Lisa, found her annoying (but cute) hopes he’s seen the last of her….

Neither Darren or Lisa get their wish. Her boss wants more of a personal angle, and Darren’s alpha wants her watching. Then when Lisa goes to Darren’s home, she gets more than she bargains for…..

Great ….. after saving her life Darren gets his picture taken on her phone. His alpha isn’t pleased, so sends Darren out to either but the journalists silence or the picture.

The story progresses and we have Darren and Lisa sort of liking each other. Darren doesn’t really trust Lisa. And Lisa would love to run this story, but for some reason she just can’t send the story and the picture to her boss.

Will Lisa uncover all the shifter secrets? And will Darren open all the way up and tell her his past? And the stray shifters in the town, will they need a place to stay? Or are they on a more sinister agenda?

Wednesday’s Post 🌧

A day filled with rain!!! I managed to catch up with a friend for a quick coffee before the rain set in and I went to work.

Had a work meeting (to talk about stock loss and how we can prevent it) and as usual, the same people dragged it out and made it last longer than it needed to be!!

The rain didn’t keep the people away, we were relatively busy, don’t know if it was the fact we were running behind as well. We usually have a little time before we open up, but as the meeting went on and on, we didn’t really get that.

I also did a few hours extra, and those two hours made all the difference.

and I got an early birthday present from a friend (she wanted me to enjoy them before my holiday) they were a splash of colour in a grey and wet day.

How was your Wednesday?

Tuesday’s Post ⛅️

I have a thick book to read😆 but I can’t read like I use to (I can’t read all night anymore, I tend to fall asleep)

Delivery day was a different set up today. We actually took it off the palate and put it away (rather than pile it up and then put it away) we worked pretty well and fast.

And today the salad bar broke!! So I had the fun of putting ice baths underneath the food, I had to refresh the ice every two hours and monitor the temperature.

And to make you chuckle ….. I had a gentleman guest today, he asked if I could get him a basket of rolls……

Seriously!!!! I could see me making up a basket of rolls, and other guests wanting the same service. Not happening.

And helping the waitresses clear tables, I couldn’t believe the mess some of those tables, and the floor….. looked like a bomb had gone off!!!

How was your Tuesday?

Monday’s Post 🌧

Another wet and windy day today. And as we only three members of staff in, it went pretty quick. I ended up doing pot wash, salads, desserts and because they were short I ended up helping the waitresses, I took food out and desserts, I also cleared tables (I was Jill of all trades today)

Then home to make dinner (a throw it at the pan dish) rice and chicken (chicken from last nights diner) a little like a special rice (only my version doesn’t have peas) 🤢

Read a book for my blog reviews, did a little tidying up (listened to my headphones) deleted all my emails. Then time for a nice long chat with my best friend 📱

What did you get up to today?

Sunday’s Post🌧

A lazy Sunday ☕️lol ….. luckily enough the 5th sentence from the book I’m reading …. ” that many at that time?”

A quiet day today. Rained on and off for most of the day. But I managed to do the laundry, hoovered and cleaned the bathroom. Popped out to do food shopping, visited Kim, and had a look around town. Nothing much going on in town, but with the weather not too good, people were milling around in town)

My blog got a sort out. I deleted a few things, added a few reviews (set times for them) and managed to read a few books (I had a couple of 1/2 read short stories)

and a totally random thought. I have a kindle, a kindle fire and the kindle app on my phone, so imagine my surprise when I find the same book on all my devices😉I’m wondering how many others i have on here? (Oh and I’m reading this book at the moment, review to follow)

How was your Sunday?

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

Here comes the son by Dahlia Donovan

Back Cover …….

When evil stirs in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, heroes come in both ordinary and extraordinary packages.

Ignatius Faber knows a few things for absolute certain. He’s half-demon, his father is the unequivocal prince of darkness, and demons want to destroy his city. And if he doesn’t make the first move on his crush, they’re never going to be anything more than a teenage fantasy that’s lasted into his thirties.

Lalo Pavia grew up hard and fast, orphaned at a young age.  As an autistic, he’s learned to approach life cautiously. He throws his energy into gardening and photography—allowing both to provide a buffer between himself and the rest of the world.

Except for Iggy.
Can they find triumph, life, and even love in the middle of a city in flames?

Their fight for the mile high city has just begun.

My Review…..

Ignatius (Iggy to his friends) is half demon, his father is the Prince of Darkness, Lucifer. His siblings (they numbered in their thousands)  have been picked off one by one, and now his favourite brother lays slain in front of his own eyes. Iggy is a loner, and he likes it that way, he can’t afford to get too close to people. They can’t find out who or what he is.

Being an orphan that was moved from foster family to foster family. Lalo has difficulties bonding with the families, having autism, Lalo has trouble communicating what he needs, but Iggy gets Lalo (ever since Iggy rescued Lalo from the school bullies, they’d been friends ever since.)

After slaying his brothers killer, Iggy is off to see the one person he truly can be himself with, Lalo. And to complicate matters Iggy has deep feeling for the cute guy, but no matter how many hints (subtle or not) Lalo hasn’t noticed. Iggy won’t admit to love, it’s only lust, and Iggy can handle lust, love is a completely different story.

Poor Iggy, Lalo just wants to offer comfort, but he’s not wired that way, sure he thinks his best friend is hot, but he doesn’t want to ruin their friendship, so Lalo will just sigh and wonder if they could ever be together as a couple.

The story then goes on to tell us about the demons that are trying to take over the city, and how Iggy is a reluctant demon killer, he’s good at his job, he just doesn’t apply himself.
Love how the couple come together and work at both their new relationship and the demons that are planning to take over the city.

Autism is always a sensitive subject to write about, but it was well written, and I can’t wait to see if the author brings out another book.

Saturday’s Post⛅️

Busy day …… what with Delivery and prepping up the stuff for salads. Didn’t really have much time to stop for a coffee

Had a young girl drop her bread roll into one of the sauces (she then promptly started fishing it out!!) so I had to change the sauce pot. And I had to chase dozens of wayward olives today (don’t think they wanted to stay in the guests bowls) 😏

Dinner with an old work friend. Haven’t seen her much except in passing. So we thought we’d catch up over dinner.

We both share the same birthday month, so once I get back from my holiday, we are going to go out for a birthday meal.

How was your Saturday?

Dragon’s first shift (Dragon’s Secret Society) book 1 by Serena Meadows

Funny isn’t it, how blind people can be. Dazzled by the fancy cars and pretty girls. Tailored suits and slick haircuts. Almost all of them they fail to see the lie. Smell the stinking truth right under their up-turned noses.

I’ll soon turn twenty-five, but my life has been one big, dangerous deception. I was born into a destiny I never chose, and a war I never asked for. But the biggest secret of all is running through my veins, hidden deep within my bones. A slumbering beast, that’s only now beginning to awaken.

And right when it feels like my sanity is starting to slip, she appears. Fiery, seductive, and holding an envelope that’s about to smash my life to pieces.

I never wanted a love story. But the last thing I expected was a tragedy.

My Review……

First book in a new series.

Natasha has a destiny to fulfil, and since being left at an orphanage as a baby, she’s worked hard to make the people who brought her up proud. And now she’s gets a chance to repay them. And she won’t let them down…..

Daniel turns 25 this weekend, and his father is throwing him a birthday celebration that will last all weekend!! But to be honest, that’s not what Daniel wants, all he wants is to be left alone …. to live his life his way ….. but that’s not going to happen for the most eligible bachelor in town. Called to the family home, Daniel grits his teeth and heads home.
The first meeting between Natasha and Daniel is as both pull up in their cars to a large home. Daniel is home, Natasha is a guest. She literally falls into his arms (she trips whilst wearing too high a heel) after that encounter they bump into each other a few more times, he’s fascinated with her, she’s not really interested,  it all that changes after a dance and a passionate kiss!!
The twist comes in the bombshell Daniel’s father relays to him….. he’s not his real father, and he’s a dragon shifter, and your best friends are really your brothers …. oh and lovely young lady you’ve been getting close to, she’s a shifter too, and she’s here to help you…..
It’s a good story, a little short, and maybe a little more content and less sex would have been nice.
Oh …… And the ending !!!! 🤔🤔🤔

Friday’s Post 🌧

It’s Friday, so here’s a drink for you to try😉cheers 🥂

A very mixed bag weather wise today. Mostly rain, but a few sunny spots. Rain didn’t keep guests away today. We still had the kids running around, but throw in a couple of umbrellas (and we have an accident waiting to happen) we had a few near misses, but luckily enough, no slips. Almost got home before it opened up (about 5 mins away) so didn’t get too wet!!

How was your Friday?

Thursday’s Post ⛅️

A coffee and people watching with my best friend was a nice change today. A little retail therapy and lunch.

Catching up with the series we are currently watching (orange is the new black) it made a nice and relaxed day.

I managed to read and review a book from TRC (The Reading Cafe) sent it off a d then set a date for you to read on my blog 😉

Expecting storms and bad weather tomorrow, but I’m hoping it will blow right past us.

How was your Thursday?

Wednesday’s Post ⛅️

A really busy day at work today. Cutting back on staff hours at the moment, changing working hours. We aren’t open for breakfast at the moment, so we don’t need me in till 11 (so now I work an hour later) so it was just the three of us till lunchtime, but we managed.

Day off tomorrow, looking forward to spending time with my best friend, maybe a coffee in town with a little people watching 😉

How was your Wednesday?

Book Review

Talking with the dead A Prequel (FBI Psychics) by Shiloh Walker

Surrounded by death, a man with a terrible gift reaches for life.

Tuesday’s Post ⛅️

A page for you to print off and colour in ✏️

Never quite sure what the weather is going to do at the moment. I swear the weather app I have doesn’t know wether it’s coming or going, it seemed to change on a regular basis. So we start off with cloud and end up with a hot and muggy afternoon.

Tuesday is delivery day, so we put it away, I start my prep and put out the cartons for the start of day.

Continuing to prep salads for the rest of the shift, I had to fight the usual kids for the pasta bowl and watch as they played with the drinks fountain!!! Some of the tables looked like a bomb had gone off!! Giving the waitresses a hand clearing tables.

Oh and the new chef tried asserting himself on the rest of the kitchen staff. And the starter chef wasn’t having any of it either (he’d been there longer so thought he should be in charge today) as I said before I feel like I work in a crèche!! It created so much friction that the food wasn’t being cooked and we then had a backlog of orders!!!

How was your Tuesday?

Monday’s Post ⛅️

Wow!!! Not been on here long, but pretty impressed with 500 posts 🥳

The weather really wasn’t very nice this morning 🌧 but through the day it got brighter and warmer, so the walk home was a nicer one than the walk to work.

A few changes at work will see me change my hours slightly. And the good news is I won’t have to run around like a mad woman for the first 40 mins of my shift. Instead I’ll go in and actually do my job. Will it last? Who knows, and what happens when they go back to serving breakfast? We will just have to wait and see.

We had a fair few children in today, and if they weren’t eating pasta like it was going to run out, then they were mixing drinks with the aid of our fizzy drinks fountain. Several tables looked like a bomb had hit it!!

How was your Monday?

Mountain Wolf’s Nanny (Daddy Wolves of the Wild) Book 1 By Serena Meadows

Betrayal comes in a lot of different forms. The rejection of a mother. The loss of a wife. And at its worst, the abduction of a child. Nick’s heart has been torn and twisted so many times his chest is little more than a cavity of scar tissue.

Then, for the first time in years…a single, tiny pulse.

Nick’s fought long and hard to win back his little girl and give them both the life his late wife would have wanted. He hopes the new nanny, Maggie, will help bridge the chasm between them, and encourage the girl to see him as more than the monster she’s been raised to believe he is.

But Maggie has her own secrets, like the fact Nick sends heat rushing through her body each time she meets his eyes. Their chemistry is undeniable, but she can’t succumb to the attraction. Because if he knew the truth about her, she’d smash the last fractured pieces of his heart beyond all hope of repair.

My Review ……..
Nick is at his wits end. After losing his daughter for eight years, (his in-laws planned to discredit and bankrupt him, then take away their granddaughter) he now has her back, but she hates her dad now, (the grandparents poisoned her against him) and wants nothing to do with him. It was bad enough when he lost his wife (she died) but at least he had his daughter, but all he has now is an angry, scared and confused daughter, he’s also aware that she will go into her first shift soon, but he doesn’t think his in-laws told her. What’s a dad to do?
Maggie is running out of options! The family restaurant is closing. She needs to keep it open for her dad. But she’s found out that her uncle signed an agreement and now unless they find a substantial amount of money the restaurant will close. And being told if she spies on someone and find evidence to discredit him, then the restaurant will be saved.
So Maggie and Nick meet up and she agrees to be a companion to Nick’s daughter rather than a babysitter. And now we are off to Colorado, Nick has the chance to get his business back up on its feet, and reconnect with his daughter, before she shifts for the first time.
Both are attracted to one another, but Nick needs to concentrate on his daughter. He doesn’t think hitting on the babysitter would go down well with his daughter. And Maggie can’t get involved, she needs to break this family up and keep her family’s restaurant open. But she can’t help thinking Nick isn’t as bad as Maggie was told. He has something on his mind, but he doesn’t want to share, but if she finds out, can she use it to her advantage? And what will Nick say when he finds out that Maggie is a spy for his wife’s family?
This is the first book in a four book series.

Sunday’s Post⛅️

You know even you have things planned, and it doesn’t goes to plan. Well today was one of those days.

We’d planned to go visit my husband’s youngest daughter, his grandson needed help putting in a car stereo.

So after putting washing out on the line and doing a little shopping. We also went and visited Kim at the cemetery. We drove over to see Tina, we get there and just about to have a cup of coffee when plans change and we are off back home!!

But on the plus side I managed to tidy my blog, read a few books and sort out a few reviews.

How did you spend your Sunday?

Saturday’s Post ⛅️

Weather was its usual mixed up self, we had a cloudy start, but ended up being hot and muggy.

Delivery was handled with surprising efficiency today (probably because our new manager was in, and cracked the whip)😉 the usual running around getting salads prepped for the start of the meal time rush. And it was busy, broken up by a child using his hands to grab raisins from a container, and a guest using the same ladle to dip into each pot of sauce!! So after throwing both the raisins and the sauces away, I began to prep for the evening shift.

I swear I work in a crèche some days, a couple of the lads like to start a mini food fight in my area (cucumber and croutons are the usual weapons of choice) and after chasing them out of my area, I get down to my prepping.

Had a lovely evening with my best friend, pizza was delivered (it was suppose to be Chinese, but our usual place was closed!!) and we polished most of it off.

we’ve started to watch “Orange is the new Black” on Netflix, it’s a good series, we’ve only watched a couple of episodes, but I can see us watching all the seasons.

Will have to catch up on laundry and food shopping tomorrow, and maybe visiting my youngest stepdaughter and her son.

What did you do today?

Next Series I’m reading 👩🏻‍💻

Dragon’s Secret Society: (A Paranormal Shifter Romance Series)  by Serena Meadows

A sinister mastermind and his coven of witches are determined to annihilate the world’s shifters, once and for all. Facing impossible opposition, courageous alphas and their clans fight claw and fang to protect their innocent kin. But the only antidote to death is new life, and the only force greater than evil, is love. In this heart-stopping series, virile alphas and their men must learn to seduce instead of slaughter and bare their hearts along with their weapons.

Dragon’s First Shift
Daniel never wanted a love story;
True love doesn’t exist for people like him,
Or the creature he hides within.

Dragon’s Forbidden Mate
She’s the girl Adam never forgot:
A blast from the past…
And she’s about to blow up everything he ever cared about.

Dragon’s Flame
A shifter raised to protect and defend…
A witch with secrets, and blood on her hands…
Taylor faces a chasm of distrust that only destiny can conquer.

Dragon’s Prophecy
Max must follow the prophecy to save his people.
A young, frightened bride isn’t part of the plan…
She’s won his heart, but for how long?

Dangerous secrets, bitter betrayals, and hot encounters abound as our heroes navigate love and war to find their happy ending. Each novel is a swoon-worthy standalone, but the series is best read in order.

My Thoughts …..

I’m aiming to read this box set separately. So I’ve found covers for each book.

Reviews to follow ……..

Friday’s Post ⛅️

it’s Friday. And so here’s a post for you to try😉cheers

One of those days today. Not only was it hot and muggy, but the restaurant was full of kids and moaning parents!!! It made for a slow day!!!

It was also 6 years today that my daughter was admitted into hospital with breathing problems!! And within 5 months she’s gone!!

It’s hard sometimes, you don’t expect to bury your child. But she’s had problems from the day she was born, and although we knew we wouldn’t have her forever, it was still a shock when she went. You don’t expect a case of pneumonia in August!!! I miss her laugh the most, and that cheeky grin when she’d done something wrong.

I’m out having dinner with my best friend tomorrow, so that’s something to look forward to. A good start to my weekend.

How’s your Friday?

Thursday’s Post ⛅️

So yesterday was my scheduled day off (but I’ve switched it around for the next month or two) so today I have a day off.

Washing done and on the line. Most of it was dried by the time I brought it in. The rest got to go on the airer.

Grabbed lunch and popped round to spend time with a good friend.

Watched a film this afternoon called “Lifechanger” I must admit it wasn’t a great film, it had great potential, but sadly lacked, but the ending was a good twist.

And I hit my reading challenge 😉I might have to reset the challenge.

How was your Thursday?

Welcome August 🌸

It’s my anniversary this month.

It’s also my nephews birthday.
