Did a few extra hours today (we were expecting to be really busy) it turned out not to be as busy as we were expecting.

Another early start tomorrow ( not sure why I’m needed in) the money will be handy, as I need a new vacuum.

Book Review 📖

Magic in the wind ….. Drake Sisters Series …. SeaHaven …. Book 1 (novella)

Back cover …….

Sarah’s coming home.” Ever since Damon Wilder sought refuge in Sea Haven, he’s heard the same breathless rumor pass the lips of nearly every local in the sleepy coastal town. Even the wind seems to whisper her name — a reverie so powerfully suggestive that it carries the curious Damon to Sarah’s clifftop home, and seeks to shelter him there.

But Damon has not arrived alone. Two men have tracked him to Sea Haven, and into the shadows of Drake House, where Sarah hides her own secrets. And danger — as well as a desire more urgent than either has ever known — is just a whisper away…

My review …..

I was a little disappointed with this book, it’s basically a short story (the other sisters get a full length book) but it is full of action, and sets the series up nicely.

Sarah is a security expert, she spends a lot of time away from her home and her sisters.
She is the eldest of seven sisters ….. Kate, Abigail, Libby, Hannah, Joley and Elle.
(They all live in the same house, a gift from their mother)

The sisters all have powers, Sarah has the power of precondition (she knows what will happen in the future) it’s been a help in the past.

There is a prophecy says that if the gates of their home opens to a man, they are destined to marry, and in order of eldest to youngest. Is that why the sisters haven’t been home in a while?

Damon is hiding, he’d seen a colleague murdered, and now he’s on the run. He never intended to stay in one place, but Sea Haven called to him, and he’s now been here a month, he’s brought a home, he wants to stay…..

Considering there is only a 103 pages, there is a lot going on. We meet some of the sisters (with the promise that the rest of the sisters are coming home) we have a fight scene (involving the house!!) and we have a love scene.

It would be nice if one day the author made the book longer, but as it’s a few years old, I don’t think it will happen.

Monday’s Post ☁️

A cold and frosty start to the day. And because it’s New Years this week, the deliveries are on a Monday instead of Tuesday.

Delivery put away and a little prep done before also doing the pot wash area. Now usually the time in between Christmas and New Years is a quiet time, but not this time. We were really busy!! So I didn’t get as much done as I had wanted.

Getting home I do a wash load and dinner (boring I know😉) then a little reading.

Sunday’s Post ☁️

An extra shift at work today. Started off quiet, got a few things done. It got busier over the lunch period. Had a few guests that needed to be a nuisance😉extra bread rolls, extra bowls.

A little housework once I got home, and then as a reward I grabbed my new blanket, book and a coffee and settled down for read.

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

Loki Ascending (Viking Warrior Series) book 3 by Asa Maria Bradley

My Review…..
This is book three in the series (I don’t think I missed too much in the other books, this is billed as a stand-alone) but I did feel there were a few things that I was missing ….
Scott is a human that has been adopted by the Vikings his sister has married into (Book 1 Viking Warrior Rising) he doesn’t want to be a burden so he trains hard with the warriors, he also has an inner warning system (think this developed over the last two books) so if trouble is near, Scott gets a warning and can act. After recovering from a coma (not sure how and why) Scott thinks he has to prove himself and to a certain Viking healer…..
Irja is a Viking healer, but going to a human medical school was unheard of, but she uses it well. She does have magic, but she rarely uses it (for her the price is too high) she’s a pretty powerful being, she just keeps it locked down.
Pekka is her twin, (he’s a complicated character, hoping he gets a book) she loves her brother (but he is a major pain in her life) he was caught and held a prisoner by Loki, he came back different, (but I suppose being was tortured changes people.)
Wolverines are modified creatures made by Loki (our baddie in this series) and this is what the vampire warriors are fighting. Yes Loki is the Viking God of Chaos, and apparently a really nasty piece of work. (He might be in the other books, but in this one, he just comes across as annoying!!)
The main characters have known each other for a while, Scott has deeper feelings for Irja (well he thinks he does) he’s loved her for ages, he thinks she only sees him as a former patient. When in fact Irja has liked him for a while, she just can’t show it. They have to work together when a mysterious virus attacks their King and then starts to attack the rest of the Vikings and Valkyrie. And when they find out Loki is behind it, and he offers them a cure (but at a big price) will they take it? And is Scott turning into something more? Are the premonitions the start of something? Rumours have started, could they be true?
I really liked this story. I’m definitely going back to book one. I did feel I was missing certain facts that maybe the other books would supply.
It was really well written. I liked the interaction between the main characters, I liked the fact Irja wasn’t sure, and in fact kept her but also the banter between the warriors and Scott.
The descriptions were done really well, I could picture scenes really easy. The story flowed really well
You definitely need to read this one.

Saturday’s Post ☁️

Just a small delivery today, so I did that on my own (we’ve started to do breakfast at the weekend) yes I know we were doing them with Santa, but before that, breakfast was a little hit and miss, so they are going to try again!!

We started off quiet and got steadier. I was on pot wash and salads (a misunderstanding had the lady that now does the dishes coming in later than usual)

I’m at work again tomorrow, but an earlier finish.

Friday’s Post ☁️

Wow!! Almost the weekend. Must be time for a cocktail 😉

Back to work after a couple of days off (I have to admit I didn’t know what day it was) but funnily enough, after only an hour it felt like I’d never had a few days away from the place.

We were steady today, just enough to keep busy, but I did manage to prepare the breakfast containers for the morning breakfast bar.

Delivery tomorrow morning, I’ve been told it’s only a small one (and I’ve fallen for that one before)

Thursday’s Post🌧

Over in the U.K it’s Boxing Day …..

Had breakfast with my son, he had to go back to work today.

Had a lovely catch up with my sister and nephew.

Lunch was at my work place (well the discount was too good to pass up, and it saved me washing up)

Coffee in the bar, we chatted till my eldest nephew left to go to work.

The weather was completely different today, it rained for most of the day. So we couldn’t go visit the grave.

Wednesday’s Post ☁️

I’d like to wish you a late merry Christmas. I hope it was all you wanted? So much pressure is on creating the perfect holiday feeling (mountains of presents, the perfect meal, everyone looking immaculate) when the most important thing is spending it with people you love.

I had a noisy breakfast, a quiet lunch and a movie fest and snacks for the end of the day.

Breakfast was at My youngest stepdaughter’s home.

Lunch was with my husband and son. A nice quiet afternoon, a few presents and then a movie. I cooked it, so they washed it up😉

Evening was munchies and movies 🎥

Tuesday’s Post 🌧

Christmas Eve …..

That week seemed to go pretty quick. One minute we are talking about Christmas. And then it’s here. A drink to try tomorrow morning 😉

Just some silly posts 😉

A pretty busy day today. We opened for breakfast, and it seemed the whole of Basingstoke came for breakfast!! I was kept busy with pot wash and helping to take breakfast plates out to guests (You know me, a multitasker)😉

Then lunchtime came, and we didn’t seem to stop to draw breath. Lots to do, and I only had till 3pm (I had a doctors appointment) a day of fine drizzle didn’t seem to keep people away.

Monday’s Post ☁️

Just to keep everyone on their toes, the delivery came today instead of tomorrow (no deliveries tomorrow) it was a fair sized one, but it doesn’t take long to put it all away.

I was on my own in the kitchen today, our new pot wash person wasn’t in. But as it wasn’t too busy I could manage pot wash and the salad cart.

Had a lovely meal with my friend. We exchanged our gifts. I got some amazing gifts.

Sunday’s Post 🌦

A Christmas t-shirt, and with books on the front (what more do you need?)

My sister came down to finish off her Christmas shopping. It gave me the chance to give her a little Christmas bag I made for her and the boys (my nephews) although one now works at my place😉 a few fun items (box of biscuits and chocolates) and a few items for Christmas (cranberry sauce, crackers)

We also had time to go and place my daughters tree up to her grave. It’s an artificial tree, the decorations are just things people have given me to place them on there.

Book Review 📱

Mischievous Christmas Angel (Angels with Attitudes Series Book 5) by Mimi Barbour

After one night of blistering lovemaking that would bring any sane man to his knees clutching a ring, Jack’s forced to accept Mia’s unexpected rejection. Then when she seems to be warming up to having a relationship, danger erupts around him in freakish accidents and mystical happenings. How can he permit her and her little girl to be anywhere near these threats?

Mia lovingly adopts her best friend’s four-year-old child in accordance with her will. She also agrees to move her new family and her business to live with her aunt before the Christmas holidays arrive. But… she isn’t willing to hold on to a man because of one incredible night’s loss of restraint.

My Review…..

I’ve read a few of the other books in the series. But I don’t think you need to read them in order.
Mia is devastated, her best friend has died, cruelly taken from her in a car accident. They’ve known each other forever, in fact when Jasmine’s mother abandoned her, Mia and her family gave her a new home. And when Jasmine became pregnant, the two girls brought her up between them. But the memories in the apartment they shared is just too much, she’s going back to live with her aunt.
Jack thinks he’s a broken man, after being wounded in Afghanistan, it’s taken time to be rehabilitated and mobile. His friend and neighbour has helped immensely, giving him handyman jobs and making him feel part of a family. For a long time he battled with pain and drug addiction, but aunt Angie gave him a place to start over.
Both jack and Mia know about each other through Angie, but neither have met each other yet. So both are surprised when they meet at Mia’s home (she’s packing up her home to go live her aunt) Jack thinks she’s a cutie and Mia thinks he’s hot.
The story then takes a few twists and turns, wrong words and misunderstandings have these two people thinking the worse. But with the help of Lucas (Jack’s guardian angel) things are back on track.
It’s a feel good book, a few good laughs and a couple of moments where you want to slap the main characters. I love aunt Angie she’s so funny. And little Maisie is such a bundle of fun.

Saturday’s Post 🌧

As it’s almost Christmas, I thought I’d post a Christmas t-shirt (and it’s got books on it)

An early start to my work day. Delivery was in late!! But luckily enough not too large. I had a lovely assistant today, and we had it away pretty quick, so I had time to do a little prep before lunch time.

It rained on and off for most of the day. Taking the rubbish bags out to the bins was a bit of a challenge, it seemed every time I went to take the bags out, it rained!!

My sister is down to do last minute Christmas shopping, and if it stays dry we are popping up to tidy my daughters grave.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Friday’s Post 🌧

It’s Friday. So for all you lucky people who don’t work over the weekend. Cheers 🍻

Had a wet start to the day. But also a productive one. Got plenty of prep and cleaning done as well. Dodging the rain whilst doing it.

Also we have a new member to the kitchen team (not how long he will stay for? Well that’s anyone’s guess. But he has a way of putting peoples back up!!) A micromanager!! Overseeing everything, an opinion on everything and does talk down to staff quite a lot!! And guess who is doing the delivery with him tomorrow 🙄

A walk home without incident tonight (last night I got splashed several times by cars going too fast through puddles)

I suppose I need to wrap a few presents up!! Need to get a move on…..

Thursday’s Post 🌧

How cute is that? Might have to try something like that.

These look really good. I’ll have to have a go and add them to my twigs with all my butterflies on.

An early start at work today. It’s delivery day.

But it’s also present exchanging (secret Santa) but I swear most people know who is getting what!! Which defeats the object really.

Once all the presents had been given out and unwrapped, most of the staff disappeared!! Then wouldn’t you know it, delivery turns up!! And then we get a light drizzle, soggy cardboard boxes aren’t the easiest thing to lift!!

We also had to sort the delivery (Christmas food stuff had to be kept separate from the rest of the food stock) an incident with a box of beetroot (let’s just say I needed to change my chef jacket!!) and then I’m ready to start my shift😉

On the way home it started to rain. A d then to add

Wednesday’s Post☁️

A little Xmas shopping and a few jobs done for my friend today. I also found and put the butterflies on my daughters Christmas tree. I’ll post tomorrow (I never think artificial light shows your subject in a good light) Aiming to put her tree up over the weekend at the grave.

I have to admit I do that. Not as hot as I use to be, but I’ll try to check the dates of my favourite authors.

These are definitely something to try and recreate. I have twigs in the front room, and they hold butterflies, these would look nice there as well.

Haven’t watched this in a while, and it’s still as funny 😁 lunch and a funny movie is always a great way to spend your day off. And the company makes all the difference.

Book Review 📱

Make Your Move (Gamer Girls Book 3) by Laura Heffernan

At twenty-eight, Shannon has yet to fall in love. Which is fine, since she’d rather spend her evenings creating games than swiping right or going on awkward blind dates. Right now though, she has two little problems. First, she’s stuck for a new game idea. Second, the only candidate in her roommate search is Tyler, the gaming buddy who’s long had an unrequited crush on her.
It should be awkward. But when Tyler moves in, the situation doesn’t go at all the way Shannon expected. Between helping her deal with coworkers and fixing the bugs in her latest game, Tyler’s proving to be damn near perfect. Except for the fact that he’s falling for someone else. . .
Maybe Shannon has already forfeited her turn. Maybe she’s playing for nothing but heartache. But the best games have endings you can never predict . . .

My Review…..
This is the third and final book in the Gamer Girls Series.
Shannon is a girl that loves to play and write games. In fact it’s safer for her that way, having never fallen in love, Shannon doesn’t really flirt or date, in fact Shannon finds it all so very frustrating. She can’t seem to connect, life in the virtual world seems so much easier.
Shannon needs to find a flat mate, that too is proving a difficult task, the only person that seems right on osier is her gaming Buddy Ryan, but Ryan has a huge crush on Shannon!! So maybe that’s not the way to go. But with a little convincing, they give the flat sharing a go….
It goes surprisingly well, in fact Shannon sees Ryan in a different light, they have a laugh, they like the same stuff. Could she let him in?
By the time she figures this out, Ryan has moved on, (not getting your feelings reciprocated has a tendency to do that) can she let Ryan know that she’s interested? And if she does will it count?
I have to say that I enjoyed this one a little more than the others. Shannon’s attachment to her two best friends is evident, her work place needs a good shake up, and she needs to form a few more attachments (Ryan for one) the conflict that Shannon faces on a daily basis must have been so draining. All she wants is what her two best friends have, but she can’t flirt and be casual, there has to be a connection between her and the other person. And watching Ryan form an attachment to someone who is not right for him was messing with her head.
Catching up with the other previous (book) characters was good, it felt like catching up with old friends. Downside, I didn’t need so much info on game playing (yes I know that’s the premise of the book, but that’s my opinion)
So will Shannon get her man? Will she get this game finished that she’s working on? You’ll have to read to find out 😉

Tuesday’s Post 🌧

Delivery day sees a little rain, luckily enough me and Emma (she’s a waitress that helps on delivery day) got it in pretty quick, a coffee then put it all away.

I’m off tomorrow looking forward to a little quiet time with a good friend. Then a few chores and possibly a little Christmas shopping.

Monday’s Post 💨

So….. after the chaotic weekend, Monday was a relatively quiet day. And we have a new worker in the kitchen 🥳 we will see how she works out.

Being freed from the pot wash I was able to concentrate on salads, and even help the waitresses do their desserts. The yard got a sweep and so did the freezers.

Sunday’s Post 🌥

Had breakfast with Santa and my granddaughter today. Got to work only to find there was no chef to cook our breakfast!! So instead of a large cooked breakfast, we had cereal and toast. They didn’t worry me as I don’t usually have a big breakfast. But Grace got to see Father Christmas and chatted to him. She got a little gift which kept her amused.

Said goodbye to my granddaughter and popped home to put another wash load before I went to the local supermarket to meet my dad. We had lunch out and a really long catch up.

Back home with shopping and then a quick chat with a friend on the phone. Back to housework and rummaging around for the butterflies that go in my daughters pink Christmas tree.

Saturday’s Post 🌧

Oh what a long day that was!! I did the delivery on my own, I put it all away, then brought breakfast in (I swear people were in a go slow today) took salad out, and then began to prep for the day. I was told to leave pot wash alone as it would be sorted. Was it? Was it hell!! The guy that was suppose to do it, was more interested in cleaning the grill and micro manage, than help!!

Got my daughters tree out of the attic today. So over the next week or so, I’ll get up to the cemetery to put that one up, and then the little tree that goes on the dining table.

Popped washing in. Will need to strip my bed tomorrow. Seeing dad tomorrow, so I need to do a few wash loads. And my granddaughter is having breakfast with Santa. So we should have fun😉

Where Demons Hide by A.M. Brooks

The City of Sin holds more than secrets.

He doesn’t remember me.
But, I remember him.
The mysterious and brooding Jay McCall.
His touch. His kiss. His hands on me.
It’s burned into my mind.
The one incredible night we shared.

But, that was before…
Before I lost my brother.
Before grief held me hostage.

He’s back, and it has nothing and everything to do with me.
The secrets he’s keeping are tangled with my brother’s death.
My heart. My body.
At war over a man I barely know.
A man who knows the truth.

He wants me to trust him.
I want to.
But to survive in a place where demons hide,
I must trust no one… not even myself.

My Review…..
That was a rollercoaster read. Full of so many emotions. The highs and lows of Blaise’s life were many. No father figure, a drunk for a mother, but at least she had her baby brother. That was until an accident took her beloved brother away from her.
Told in the first person, Blaise tells us all about her feelings, numbness at the loss of her brother, anger at him leaving her, his friends who abandoned him and her at after the funeral. She was going to leave this small town, her and her brother, start a new life in Vegas. But now she doesn’t want that life, if her brother isn’t there to share it with her.
The couple first meet as an explosive one night stand. The passion between them is off the charts, Blaise needs to feel something, then she will go back to her cold and empty life.
Jay is a cop, he needs to see a young woman by the name of Blaise, he needs to give her certain information about her brother, and to ask if she’s seen a member of the group they both ran with. He’s taken by surprise at the woman he meets, she’s the one he had sex with. He needs to stay professional, but there is something about her that just draws him in.
When Blaise finds out her brother was murdered, a whole range of emotions play out. Fear and rage, concern for the rest of her “family” these boys that ran with her brother mean the world to her. But one of them is missing!! Did he have something g to do with Blake’s murder, or has something happened to him?
I liked this book, I’m hoping for more in the series. It was well written and thought out. The emotions Blaise felt were thoughtfully written. The passion between jay and Blaise was tastefully done.

Friday’s Post 💨

A really chilly wind this morning. Needed a hat and gloves. Getting into work I quickly went upstairs, we were suppose to be wearing Christmas jumpers and posting pictures. I get to work, and no one is in, and when they did start coming, no one was wearing a jumper, so I paraded around in my reindeer outfit.

I did get a few laughs. I may wear it again for Christmas Eve😉

Thursday’s Post 🌧

A cold and wet start to the day. Needed to go into town to do plenty of things today. Presents to buy, a little food shopping, and a few chores to do for my BFF (she’s laid up in bed at the moment, after falling down the stairs!!)

The rain didn’t let up all day, so I couldn’t really go visit my daughters grave.

Work tomorrow should be interesting, did I get my fridge filled? Did the walk in fridge get sorted? We will see😉

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

The Enforcer (Fire’s Edge series) by Abigail Owen

Death comes for everyone. Even Drake Chandali. The aging process that twists all unmated dragon shifters’ bodies into something useless has taken hold of his body centuries early. A mate could have reversed the process, but now it’s too late. To protect his team of enforcers, he leaves, and comes face to face with the woman he’d thought was human when he saved her from a fire months before.

Wednesday’s Post 💨☁️

I need to try to duplicate this picture. Might try in the summer 🤔

A cold day all day today. But as I’m going through the menopause, I’m loving it. It keeps my body temperature down, the kitchen might be chilly, and everyone is complaining, but it’s a perfect temperature for me😉

A few items missing on the salad cart, and those are the ones people always ask for!! Thank goodness it’s delivery day tomorrow, I’m off, so I’m hoping the other salad chef does plenty of prep (but knowing her like I do, I highly doubt it!!)

Walking home this evening I’m seeing more and more Xmas decorations outside of the houses. I have never really understood the fascination. You can’t see them, you have a huge electric bill in January, and you seem to want to outdo each other!! It just seems like a waste of money to me….

Tuesday’s Post 🌧

Thank goodness it was only a small delivery today. The weather wasn’t nice to start off with, but by the time the delivery had arrived, so had the rain. And trying to get the boxes in before they got wet was a race against time. But we managed. We then grabbed a quick coffee to dry off before we put it all away.

Prepping a few things I then put it all out. Making extra as I went along. Bins were brought in, and dishwasher was switched on too.

Setting pot wash up, I then went back to prepping up the next days containers. And that was how my day went, back and forth from pot wash to the salad cart.

Darkest Assassin (Lord’s of the Underworld Novella) by Gena Showalter

Fox is a demon-possessed immortal with many talents.
–Ability to open portals—check
–Power to kill the most dangerous Sent Ones—check
–Scare away any man who might want to date her—mate
Now, the keeper of Distrust has been marked for death, a winged assassin with rainbow-colored eyes tracking her every move, determined to avenge the males she accidentally decimated. If only she could control the desire to rip off his clothes…Bjorn is a fierce warrior with many complications.
–Tragic, torture-filled past—check
–A wife he was forced to wed, who is draining his life force—check
–Ever-intensifying desire for the enigmatic Fox—mate
Never has he hesitated to exterminate an evil being. Until now. The sharp-tongued female with a shockingly vulnerable heart tempts him in ways no one else ever has, threatening his iron control. But, as Fate itself seems to conspire against the unlikely pair, both old and new enemies emerge. And Fox and Bjorn must fight to survive. And learn to love…

My Review….
I’ve read all the books in this series. Bijorn was in a spin off series (Angels of the Dark) and I’ve been wondering if he’d ever get a book.
Fox has been in a few books too. And I’ve never really taken to her, (she seemed very cold and standoffish) but once I read why she was that way, the story had me liking her more.
The story has us visiting Fox not long after she kills innocents (“sent ones” who are angels) she is then attacked by Bijorn (he’s been sent to dispense justice after she’d killed the “sent ones”) captured and taken to his home, there she is thrown into a dungeon, to await her fate.
Back story on Bijorn ….. he’s an angel, he’s an assassin.
He was captured a while back and tortured alongside his best friends (Thane and Xerxes) it changed his character. No longer the happy man his friends knew, but years together the three men have an unbreakable bond. And it helped to keep Bijorn grounded. Oh and he was a “wife”!! But it’s not a happy marriage, it’s a very one sided and poisonous one!!
Backstory on Fox ….. adopted “daughter” to Galen the keeper of both false hope and jealousy, she “houses” the demon Distrust. The constant nagging in her head (the demon tells her she not worthy, to kill anyone first, that way they can’t kill her. To always be distrustful of others) orphaned are a very early age, Fox has had to survive the best way she can. She’s also a Gatekeeper (she can create portals) a rare and dying breed, so she keeps that bit of information to herself. A skilled warrior and assassin, every bit as lethal as her title “The Executioner”
It’s a short story, so we don’t have time for Fox and Bijorn to have a slow relationship.
The trust between these two is slow in coming, he wonders when she will try to kill him, she wonders when she can escape. Bijorn is also told by his superiors that Fox has to die for her crimes (which he’s finding harder and harder to do) But after several incidents a tentative alliance is formed. Both fight their attraction to one another, but realise that together they are stronger. But one mistaken moment, and they are back to square one.
The story gives us more info on William (his book is next and widely anticipated) and the fight between lucifer and the Lords of the Underworld. It seems to be coming to a climax, so I have to wonder if the series is coming to an end?
I have to say, I liked this book, I would have loved a longer story. Liked how we go to catch up with old characters (would have liked interaction with a few Lords)

Monday’s Post☁️

A pretty chilly walk to work today. When I got to work I was greeted with a hello and told there wasn’t much salad done. My counterpart hadn’t turned up for work, so my salad cart had suffered. Hardly anything had been done, and the stuff that had been done, seemed hurried. But I got on with it, and caught up pretty quick.

I then set my sights on pot wash and that too was soon up to scratch. I realised they’d forgotten to turn in the ice cream machine, so I quickly flipped the switch (hoped it didn’t go on a heat cycle, otherwise that means no ice cream for the lunch period!)

Managed to get a fair amount done today, pretty pleased with what I achieved. It’s delivery day tomorrow, so I made sure the walk in fridge was clean and tidy. Keeping fingers crossed it’s not a big one.

Sunday’s Post🌧

As you know from yesterday’s post, my son was down for the weekend.

I didn’t fancy doing breakfast, so when my son suggested going out for breakfast, I jumped at the chance😉

Went to my work place as I have a staff discount there (might as well make the most of it) it was really busy, and I could see Santa making his way round the tables (I did hear one guest complain “I paid so the kids could see Santa, now he’s walking around seeing everyone!”) But her waitress pointed out that only paying guests kids got a gift!!

The rest of the day was housework and sorting out my bags of food and gifts I have in the spare room (I had to put it all in bags when Aaron cane to stay last night) headphones were on and I got to listen to music and part of an audio book.

Saturday’s Post ☁️💨

Oh my!!! An extremely busy day at work today.

We started out “Breakfast with Santa” weekends…. they run until Christmas Eve. Our little area where we usually have staff lunch was turned into “Santa’s Grotto” one of the waitresses father dressed up and sat for two and a half hours with children and wandered round the restaurant. Kids seem to have lots of fun. But because of that, we were really busy for breakfast, and that ran into a busy lunch.

And that didn’t even take into account the delivery that was dropped off today. I had a lovely young man to help with the delivery. We cleared it away pretty quick.

My son has come to visit for the weekend. His father and him went to a local Christmas market, not too impressed with it too be honest.

Pizza and a film

Can’t believe how old this film is.

Friday’s Post ☁️

Cheers. Hope you get to try this drink.

Another cold walk to work this morning. A little drizzle as well.

It was delivery day yesterday, and i thought I’d come into a full fridge and the walk in fridge stocked up ….. ha!! No chance, it wasn’t full until I spent my shift filling it up!! The pot wash kept me busy too. And lucky me, the guests all behaved. I didn’t get anyone ask for bread rolls or hound me for potato salad or anything else.

We start our breakfast with Santa tomorrow, and I get to have breakfast with both Grace (my granddaughter) and Santa next Sunday. So there is going to be quite a few children running around!!

Had a staff meeting this morning. Half the staff hadn’t turned up, the other half, well they were more interested in coffee and nicotine!! But we get on and today a fire drill is done. So we all traipse out to the meeting point. Some with cigarettes in their hands🙄

And the delivery lorry turns up, so not to leave that one person on their own, i volunteer to bring the delivery in.

I left the meeting still going on. I have things to do, a little shopping and a lunch and movie time with my BFF …..

One night, Sarah’s young son disappears into the woods behind their rural home. When he returns, he looks the same, but his behavior grows increasingly disturbing. Sarah begins to believe that the boy who returned may not be her son at all.

That was a really good film. Enough tension to keep you on your seat. And I did like the ending 😉

Wednesday’s Post ☁️

A day when most of my guests are in their twilight years. Shop mobility scooters, walkers and canes littered the place. We had to turn down the piped music as a couple complained the music was too loud!!

But that didn’t stop them from eating most of my salad cart!!

The walk home was a cold and dark one. The houses along my walk home are beginning to become decorated with lights and decorations.

Book Review 📱

Kosta (Bratva Blood Brothers Series) book 8 by K.J. Dahlen

“We are brothers by choice. Blood has brought us together and will forever hold us strong.
Brothers we are and brothers we will always be.”

I have protected the Bratva all of my life. It was something I was born to do. I would protect the brothers with my life if I had to.
Then I met her and I knew in that moment, she would be mine. I would now protect what is mine.
The life I live has many pitfalls and we all have secrets we can’t share with the world, but I want to share mine with her…
Except her secrets could get both of us killed.
Can I keep her safe? I have to or my life might as well be over. Once I have her, I can’t imagine life without her.

I have always lived on the edge of life, too afraid of being noticed by the wrong people, until I was…
I had one friend when I was young, we were true sisters for at least a little while, then she was gone and I was alone again.
When I was grown, she came back into my life and we picked up where we left off all those years ago.
She brought Kosta to me and he completed me like no one else ever would
But my life wasn’t mine and the demons in my past refused to let me go.  Could I risk the wrath of my demons to have a life with him?
He gives me the courage to stand up for the life I want… with him. I can’t let my demons win.

My Review…….
This is book eight in the Bratva series. I haven’t read any of the others, I don’t think it’s necessary, but it looks like a lot of previous characters are in this book, and so possible spoilers.

Sahara and her mother only had each other, and then she was left on her own after her mother passed away. But Sahara isn’t on her own, she’s caught the attention of a powerful man, he wants her in his bed, but she doesn’t want him, but Alexi doesn’t take no for an answer. And over the next eighteen months he terrorises her, but Sahara is about to find a friend she thought she lost long ago.

Kosta is a protector, a bodyguard to the Bratva (the Russian mafia) there is nothing he wouldn’t do for these men, and over the course of time, Kosta has watched them fall in love and marry. He wants that, someone to call his own, but he doesn’t think that will ever happen. Who could love a man like him?

Sahara and Kosta meet when he’s taking his friends wife to visit her mother’s grave. They recognise one another, and when Pepper is almost shot, Sahara saves her life by taking the bulletin meant for her!! I’m that moment, Sahara’s life will change forever, she goes from being alone and afraid, to having her childhood friend back, and a man that looks at her with respect and awe.

We find that Sahara’s mother was from a powerful family back in Russia. And that her grandparents have been looking for their daughter for over twenty years!!
The love that Sahara (also known as “Salt”) has for Kosta is reciprocated, he wants her for one than one day, he wants her forever as his wife and mother of his children. But will he get that wish? Her grandparents are coming from Russia, and they mean for her to come back with them and be married off to a “good” family. And don’t forget Alexei that wants her for himself!!!
It’s a good read. And I’m definitely interested in reading the previous books.

Tuesday’s Post ☁️

Delivery day. And I was expecting a large delivery, what we got was a surprise. There was hardly anything delivered!!! Wish they would check what is in the fridges and store rooms!! So I put away the tiny delivery, and grabbed what I needed to put out on the salad cart.

It was a pretty quiet day, so I got plenty done.

Monday’s Post ☁️

What a frosty start to the day. And it’s only going to get colder!! But I’d rather this weather, don’t care much for the rain or snow.

We had a lack of salad stuff this morning (not enough was ordered Saturday) so filling the cart up was interesting to say the least.

But it gave me time to wipe down surfaces and clean the fridge.

Pot wash also got a good wipe over.

Work was a little busy, and we had lots of guests asking for all the stuff we had run out of!!

How was your Monday?

Sunday’s Post ☁️

Oh that was cold today. It didn’t rain, it was in fact nice and sunny, but do very cold. We were suppose to go shopping and tidy my daughters grave. We did, but not a proper shop. We walked to our nearest supermarket, got enough for a few days. Visited Kim, then made our way home.

I got my new phone today. Luckily enough it’s the same size as my old phone, so I won’t need to get a new cover yet.

A few wash loads were done in between sorting out the phone. I managed to read a little. Put some thoughts down on paper for a review.

Busy week this week. I have a work meeting on Thursday (my day off) and the doctors on Friday. And my son is coming to visit this weekend.

How was your weekend? What’s your plans flew this week?

Welcome December🍂

Except for a few review books in December, I don’t think any of my favourite authors have a book out.

It’s also time to start thinking about Christmas. I use to love Christmas when the kids were little. Watching their faces light up, watching Christmas movies under a blanket whilst eating popcorn. Wrapping presents whilst eating sweets. All fond memories, but after my daughter died, I didn’t really care for Christmas.
