Monday’s Post

A cold and damp day today. And we got 30 seconds of snow!! One minute it’s here, the next it’s gone!! Crazy weather.

The beginning of another week in isolation. Getting into some type of routine.

Reading, keeping in touch with family and friends, and finding new things on the tv.

In this reimagining of the classic Dracula story, the world is dominated by vampires, requiring humans to work together to survive.

The series centers on Vanessa Helsing, daughter of famed vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, who wakes up after a five-year coma to discover a vampire-controlled world.

She soon learns that she possesses a unique blood composition that makes her immune to vampires and able to turn the creatures into humans. That power puts humanity’s last hope to return the world to how it once was before the vampires took over in Vanessa’s hands.

Watching the news is really only a nighttime thing, so I need to know how many people have died today? No not really, do I need to know that we need to stay indoors? Well duh!! That’s just common sense.

Carnival Row follows “mythical creatures who have fled their war-torn homeland and gathered in the city as tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population.

At the center of the drama is the investigation into a string of unsolved murders, madness of power, unresolved love, and social adjustments eating away at whatever uneasy peace exists.

I’m getting into this series. Almost at the end. Hoping we get another series soon.

Sunday’s Post

My day was to visit my daughter at the grave today, reading, catching up with family and friends over the phone (in one way or another) and maybe a little housework)

The weather really wasn’t nice enough to walk to the cemetery today. If the weather is better, I’ll go tomorrow.

As another Sunday on social distancing, lockdown or whatever you want to call it comes to an end, it’s making me a little sad, but a lot mad, what is it with people? What don’t they get with “not gathering in large groups”, do they not understand? Do they think it won’t happen to them? Do they think it will pass them by? Watching the news through the day, I’m filled with astonishment at the lack of sense some people have!!

So many different views on this virus, so many “conspiracy theories” it’s all just a joke. At the end of the day, you are suppose to love your family, if that’s the case, then why the hell are you all still going out?!?!

*rant over*

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

Ash Bringer  (A Storm of Fire) by Courtney Leigh

The Draak, an ancient race of dragon shapeshifters, claim Earth after centuries of absence. To some, the Draak are like gods. To others, they’re invaders. To Everly Ghlass, they’re the ones that took everything from her.

After her adopted father is convicted of killing a high ranking Draak, Everly enters a deadly competition to win his freedom. Her plans are shattered when the brother of the of the murdered Draak claims the keys to her fate. Draven Tempest is one of the oldest Draak, a man with a literal raging fire in him and plenty of pent up anger. Anger he plans to direct at Everly. Now she has a choice. She can fight until it destroys her or surrender to a dangerously alluring new life.

At first, it’s a cruel, psychological game, but as time passes, the fearless Everly Ghlass begins to chip away at Draven’s hardened exterior to find something aggressive…and passionate.

As the two inch closer to a threshold that will leave them both changed forever, conspiracy and rebellion threaten the balance of the world. With war on the horizon, Everly and Draven must discover where they stand or be torn apart in a storm of fire.

My Review…..

Now that was good. The first book in a new series, always a hard one, if it’s not strong enough, then people won’t be interested in reading anymore. It’s written by the characters points of view (not a big fan, but today it works)

Everly needs to win the Red Race, it’s the only way to free the only person other than her parents (who are dead) she’s ever loved. He’s been like a father to her, so him being wrongly imprisoned doesn’t sit with Everly at all, she can’t break him out, but if she wins the race through the maze, she can have anything she wants, and Everly knows exactly what she wants!!!

Draven knows that his kind don’t belong here, (but they did once, a long time ago) but the humans weren’t strong to hold onto this place, so it’s now belongs to the Draak, and so does everything on Earth. To Draven human women are vessels to use, and anyone not loyal to his race, are vermin to be exterminated!!!

That was a hard book to read, it was amazing stuff, but the animosity that Draven had for humanity was sometimes overwhelming to read, his disregard for human life, and they were all either pets or pests, and so took it out on Everly!! I have to admit I didn’t think he’d ever get past the revenge he wanted for the death of his brother, but like most arrogant alpha males, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.. And fall he did, the brand he placed upon Everly was meant as a punishment, however, it backfired. He felt her emotions, dreamed her dreams and got an insight into his infuriating “pet.”

Everly held her own through most of the book, entering a race to the death for her adoptive father. Winning the race, only to be told her one wish wasn’t to be granted, instead she was to be “branded” and used like cattle (her thoughts) she was prepared for physical torture, to be “used and abused” she certainly didn’t go down without a fight, she fought him physically, and mentally. She didn’t want to understand him, but living under his roof, Everly saw a different side to him, and the Draak in general, they weren’t all killers, they are nurturers, they love their family and the human women who bear their offspring.

The hierarchy of the Draak takes a little getting use to, Draven although the strongest, isn’t the leader, that title belongs to a brother, he’s a fighter not a diplomat.

And both have decisions to make, there is a war coming, the rebel humans are fighting back.

So will Everly be able to get past her loathing of the Draak? Can she forgive her “captor and master” for killing her father? Can Draven look past his loathing of the human race?

Saturday’s Post

The first official “lockdown” weekend. Watched people on FB plan indoor picnics, plan music sessions and plan virtual days to the zoo. It was nice to see some people are taking it seriously, but as the sun was shining, people were beginning to creep out!! Hoping it rains on Sunday, need to keep the idiots indoors!!

Friday’s Post

With the sun out, I managed to dry the last of my curtains. It’s been a job I’ve wanted to do for ages. And as I’ve got plenty of time on my hands, and the weather playing nice for a change, I made the most of it.

I gad a very lazy day today, I did the curtains and that was it. I had a pyjama day. I spoke to family and friends via FB and whattsapp.

Might even try a few cocktails (but with the lack of alcohol, it might be a little tricky.

Thinking some people really don’t know the meaning of “social distancing” the amount of people I’ve seen walking past my window in groups has been larger today, than for the last few days. Is it because it’s Friday? The start of the weekend? Or is it because people think the virus won’t strike on a weekend?

Thursday’s Post

Hope everyone is staying indoors and staying safe. It’s beginning to sink in around my area, I’m not seeing as many people walk around. But the weekend should be interesting, will we find the selfish people visiting parks, beaches and family members? I do hope not.

We were asked this evening to stand by our front doors, or our windows and show our appreciation to the people who are working in our health service. To show our support we were invited to clap (not sure how long for) it didn’t seem to last long around our area, and not many people came out, but checking on FB, it looked like a lot of other areas showed their support. I also heard a few fireworks.

Wednesday’s Post

Another sunny day, another day watching people walk by, are they all going to work? Are they just going shopping? Or are they meeting up with friends? Watching the news, scrolling on FB, or talking to friends and family on the phone, more and more people are getting onboard with social distancing, but what is making people cross are the ignorant people, those people that can’t bear to be indoors, that have to be out!! What more do people want? What don’t people understand?

Anyway rant over😉

I got a lovely surprise today.

I’m very excited. Can’t wait to open and dive in.

Tuesday’s Post

My prime minister gave a press conference yesterday. Advising everyone that if you don’t need to go out, then stay in!! I don’t think it will be long before a proper lock down will be in place. Police will be patrolling more, giving out fines if necessary. Let’s hope the people that don’t need to be out, will actually stay indoors.

Rant over …… let me tell you about my day.

Did more cleaning, watched a few people walk, jog or stroll by the house. Definitely less footfall today. Caught up with people via text, FaceTime and calls.

Reading and writing a few reviews, also looking at starting a few audio reviews (do you think it should be an audio review?)

Sun out again today, so washing went out on the line.

Monday’s Post

Not going to remind myself how many days I’ve been self isolating anymore.

Made a list of cleaning….. one room to take two days. A proper deep clean.

Watching the world go by via the window…. but what makes me cross are the kids playing outside, the groups of people chatting outside in the sun!! I know it’s hard, but come on people, the longer we stay outside, the longer it’s going to take to clear this virus. *rant over*

Making videos for work each day, just a silly 30 seconds of dancing, it cheers me up, and the positive comments (if it makes people smile, who cares if I’m being silly)

Caught up with a few reviews. And sorted my reading pile by the bed…..

Hoping your all staying safe and keeping as sane as you can.

Book Review

Fury Unleashed (Forgotten Brotherhood series) book 1 by N.J Walters

Maccus Fury, a fallen angel, is trying hard to keep his sanity. Seems being an
assassin might be catching up with him. Now, Heaven, or Hell, has sent a beautiful
assassin to kill him. Lovely. She’s pretending to seduce him, and he’s okay with that. She’s smart and snarky—but she has no idea what she’s walked into. And he’s more than peeved that they only sent one person. They’re going to need an army if they want him dead.

Morrigan Quill is one of Hell’s bounty hunters. She sold her soul to keep her sister safe, and now she’s working off her contract by catching bad guys and dragging them back to hell. When Lucifer makes her a new offer––that’s definitely too good to be
true—she can’t say no. All she has to do is kill a powerful and crazy-hot fallen
angel, who will totally kick her ass in battle.

Good thing he won’t see what’s coming next.

My Review…..

Maccus has been on earth for a very long time. An assassin. A fallen angel (a friend betrayed him and he fell) but he’s become a very powerful fallen. Learning all manner of weaponry and skills. He survived his wings being taken from him when he fell from heaven, he learned to survive hell, and everything that was thrown at him, so he’s distrustful of others, yes he’s surly and never smiles, but I don’t think I’d be too sociable either. And someone wants him dead. Good luck with that, he’s not easy to kill…..

Morrigan gave up her life and soul to protect her baby sister. She’s now a bounty hunter for lucifer. She’s good at her job, no innocents, just bad humans and demons. She hates her job, it’s a lonely one, but what else can she do about it? She has twenty five years of servitude, she’s done ten, only another fifteen to go!!

OMG!!! Morrigan finds out the guy she’s been sent out to kill is “The Hunter” an elite killer, this is going to be impossible, she’s not going to be able to fill out the contract with Lucifer, her soul will be dammed, and she will be tortured for eternity!!

We follow Maccus and Morrigan through a series of twists and turns. Watch as Maccus struggles with his feelings for Morrigan, he can’t trust her, can he? She’s there to kill him, but he’s also got to kill her. It’s a whole lot of mess, but he can’t deny the sparks that fly between them. Morrigan on the other hand has accepted that Maccus will kill her eventually, so she’s going to enjoy her time with him whilst it lasts. But she can’t help hoping its not for a long time, she’s come to understand the warrior and somehow ease his troubles, if only for a little while. And she’s determined to see a smile on that gorgeous face.

There is something going on in the background? Why would lucifer and Gabriel want Morrigan and Maccus dead? They work for opposite sides, is there something going on that lucifer and Gabriel only know about?

The forgotten are a band of immortals that clubbed together to give each other information. They hardly ever meet up (being on your own for centuries can cause paranoia) Maccus and a vampire called Asher (there is a story there that I’m sure we will hear about eventually) started up the Band of Immortals.

I liked this book, very fast paced, lots of action (maybe just a little less of the sex scenes) very detailed. The streets of New York came alive with the details that the author wrote about. The characters were great, very likeable, there didn’t seem any fillers (people in the book that didn’t need to be there) Hoping we get another book soon. Hoping we get to meet the Band of Immortals.

Sunday’s Post

Self isolation Day 4…..

Happy Mother’s Day 💐

I hope you all had a good day. Sadly my son couldn’t join me for Mother’s Day this year, we are on a lockdown. Had a lovely chat via phone. Not the same, but at least I know he’s safe in his own home.

Popped up to spend time with my daughter at her graveside today. It was great to get out in the sun and the fresh air, funny how you take the little things for granted.

The garden got the full works today, and it’s looking much better. Trimmed and mowed and weeded.

The news didn’t bring any good news, more shops are closing. Hard times are ahead, but we need to support each other, and we need to stay indoors, otherwise I see us being on complete lockdown and martial law!!!

Stay safe, take care and sending you all my love.

Happy Mother’s Day 💐

For some a happy occasion. But the others it’s a day where you think about your own mum.

sadly my mum passed away, so Mother’s Day has a sad tinge to it. We’d manage to get together and celebrate it somehow. Or I’d have to share her with my sisters. Taking it in turns to spoil her. Miss her terribly.

and I’m also a mother. But as you know my daughter is no longer with us. My son makes a fuss, but it doesn’t take the heartache away.

So happy Mother’s Day, treasure your mum, treasure being a mum. And for those who’s mother isn’t with them for one reason or another, so I’m sending a hug.

Saturday’s Post

Day 3 of self isolation……

Not how I was expecting to spend my weekend. Watching the world go by via the window and tv screen. The sun was out, but I’m staying in!! No work, no delivery today, instead housework!! Got a little done all to music (always makes it go quicker I think)

Yesterday we got told our restaurant, along with thousands of other restaurants and businesses were closing. So it’s going to be a hard few months, but on the plus side, we will get paid whilst off (different stories are floating around, so I’m sure it will take a few days to sift through all what’s going on)

Got a few phone calls, made a few phone calls, and have fun chatting to my granddaughter via messenger 😁 got done reading in, so I’m looking at a plus.

Book Review 📱

Sister’s of the Coven (Daughter’s of the Warlock) book 1 by Amelia Shaw

Her Mother’s death unleashes her biggest secret….. the secret that could destroy them all.

When Ava’s mother dies, the responsibility of her daughters safety falls to the eldest of the three. Heir to the Coven, she must locate the most powerful warlock in all the realms: her father.

Only problem is, he has no idea he has a daughter, and the Counsel of Warlock’s is not about to allow an illegitimate heir to inherit their power.

Now Ava must hide who she is…or risk the wrath of the most powerful warlocks in the Universe. But hiding the power inside her isn’t as easy as it sounds, and soon, she finds her life and the life of her sisters in danger.

My Review ……
I’ve read a few of the authors previous books, and I’m opening it with much anticipation…..
Ava being the eldest of three sisters isn’t impressed with her mother, although she’s dying, her mother is still a formidable figure.
Getting told that she had to look after and protect her younger sisters has Ava annoyed. Why her? They are old enough, but there is something her mother is hiding…..
When your whole world literally falls down around your ears, you would expect to feel fear, wouldn’t you? Ava did, but she also felt free, no longer under the harsh tongue of her mother.
We follow Ava through a minefield…. finding out about her father was the easy part, finding out both herself and her sisters will be hunted and murdered by the council was hard, and why? Her father can only have one heir by his wife chosen by the council, see where this is going?
This book is told in the main characters point of view. I got the impression when first reading the character of Ava, she was a bit of a brat!! But the further you get into the book, Ava shows us why she’s cold, her mother always pushed her, she got the talks, Courtney and Bella got the love. But we see Ava grow, she needs answers to her heritage so she has to be careful where she looks for answers.
So does Ava get to meet her father? And who is Tavlor? And what is the connection that Ava feels with him? Can she trust him?
It ends on a cliffhanger!! So I’m definitely wanting to read the next instalment.

Friday’s Post

Day 2 of self isolation……

I made the effort and got dressed today. Phoned a few friends, chatted with friends and family. FaceTimed and even managed to set a chat to video chat with my granddaughter on messenger tomorrow. Thinking this will be our “normal” for a while.

Sorted out my plastics cupboard (those lids keep disappearing and containers keep multiplying) today. Did a wash load and finished a book (review to follow)

Book Review

Hers to Tame (Nola Knights) book 2 by Rhenna Morgan

Book two of NOLA Knights, the heart-stoppingly sexy spin-off series by Men of Haven author Rhenna Morgan

As an avtoritet for the most powerful crime syndicate in New Orleans, Kir Vasilek doesn’t act without purpose, doesn’t speak without thought and never, ever loses his cool. The lives of his brothers, his family, depend on it. But then Cassie McClintock strolls back into his life, and staying cool is next to impossible. Cassie was the one who got away—and Kir is willing to break all his own rules to keep it from happening ever again.

It’s one thing to report on the Russian mafia; it’s quite another to sleep with one of them, especially one as dangerous, and as sinfully sexy, as Kir Vasilek. Even though the information he once provided helped make her career—and the memory of his touch still keeps her up at night—Cassie knows too much about his world to go down that path.

But when Kir reaches out for help after a rival family comes for one of his own, Cassie doesn’t want to say no, either to investigating a gruesome murder or to the heat that pulls her right back into his arms…and his heart. Taming Kir—and helping to save the family she’s come to call her own—is not the story she thought she’d write, but it’s the one she’s determined will get a happy ending.

Hers to Tame is the highly anticipated follow-up to His to Defend. And don’t miss Roman’s story in Mine to Keep, coming soon from Rhenna Morgan and Carina Press.

My Review……

I’ve not read the first book, but I don’t think you need to worry too much.

Kir use to be a bodyguard for the Bratva, now he runs a crew of his own, but he’s not the boss, that title belongs to his brother Sergei “His to defend” although not blood brothers, they guard each other’s backs and love each other like brothers. After watching Sergei fall for Evette, Kir longs for the same connection with a woman, but his past won’t allow that to happen (being sold into a Bratva as a young boy changed him) so Kir settles down to fact he will remain alone.

Cassie is a reporter but, she’s not really had a good story in a while. She needs a fresh story, but going back to a source she used before maybe difficult. But if she needs to stay at the top of her game, Cassie is going to have to swallow her pride and ask the one man she walked away from.

Almost from the moment they reconnect you can see that Kir wants Cassie on a permanent basis. Not just as help finding out who killed a member of his crew, but as a companion, maybe even more of a commitment!!! He makes plans to show her his world and his family.

Cassie really likes Kir, but she knows about his background and is very wary, but after meeting his “family”, she sees a different side to the Bratva and Kir. But there is her job to consider! Won’t people wonder how she got her stories? And will they assume they will favour Kir and his family?

But there is the murder to solve, and Cassie’s involvement may put her in the firing line! Is someone targeting her? Kir? Or the whole Bratva?

I liked this book, in fact I’m off to find the first book. The sex isn’t too over the top, and there is isn’t too much either😉The connection between Sergei and Kir got me wanting to find out more, and what made the boss man fall for Evette, and then there is Roman (another group leader) he’s as close to Sergei as Kir is (and rumour has it, that his book is next)

I’d recommend this book all day long. The plot flows really well. Characters are a delight to read about. And doing research on the author I found a series in which a lot of characters that we meet in this book are from (so this in theory is a spin off series) but you don’t need to read it, it just gives you more info on the characters. But I think that’s another series to be added to my never standing TBR list 😉

Thursday’s Post

Official first day of self isolation…..

I’d planned to get a long list of things to do….

I in fact did nothing …..

I phoned family and friends on and off for most of the day.

I start tomorrow 😉

Thursday’s Post

First, let me thank all the healthcare workers who are our front-line defense against the coronavirus: doctors, nurses, laboratory technologists, and researchers. Thank you for all that you do.

To the shop workers, who are tirelessly trying to restock the shelves.

I hope everyone is able to stay safe. This is going to be a long road with a feeling of helplessness because this is something that we can’t control. I think the best way to get through this is just to take one day at a time. Also, if anyone has elderly neighbors or family, please check in with them.

Ok I have a TBR shelf (this was suppose to be holiday reading) but it’s highly unlikely that I won’t be going on holiday anytime soon.

So I’m aiming to read most of these before I go back to work!!

Wednesday’s Post

Today is my day off. So I can pretend for today that everything is normal. I’m going shopping, then pop in to see my friend, then that’s it, self isolation will be in force!!

Mari Gilbert relentlessly drives law enforcement agents to search for her missing daughter and, in the process, sheds light on a wave of unsolved murders of young female sex workers on the South Shore barrier islands of Long Island committed by the Long Island serial killer.

It’s from a book. I might have to take a look on kindle 😉 Managed to watch most of it.

With the world in a crazy place right now, please be careful out there. Follow the recommendations of the government or, your countries disease center. Remember to keep your distance, wash your hands and cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Check on your elderly family, neighbors and friends. Make use of video chat, phone and email to stay in touch. Curl up with some good books or, binge some new shows.

Much love and hugs to all of you 💜

Tuesday’s Post

After a walk to work with a non existent sun on my face, (well after yesterday I was getting ready for spring) it was time for the delivery.

Smaller than Saturday’s (wouldn’t you know it!) the topic at work bounced between this damned virus and the affair I told you about ……. well the latest development is, the chef and his fiancée are moving away to start again with different jobs!!

And with this damned virus 🦠 we are wondering where this will take the restaurant, and not knowing is half the battle!!

And as of today I’ve been told to go home and self isolate….. so I have a few ideas as to how to entertain myself. Reviews and moving furniture!!

Book Review 📱

The Anti Honeymoon by Bethany Michaels

No groom? No Problem.

When her fiancé tries to turn their wedding into a publicity stunt, Jenna ditches the nuptials, and the groom she shouldn’t have been with in the first place and skips straight to the honeymoon. The getaway driver, her ex-fiancé’s former business partner, Zach, is the perfect guy to help reshape her romantic newlywed itinerary into an anti-couple, anti-romance, anti-honeymoon adventure for two.

They trade couples yoga for kickboxing lessons. Five-star dining on the beach for pizza and beer at a dive bar. Forget couples massage, Jenna’s getting that tattoo she’s always wanted, and dares Zach to get one, too. And those naughty boudoir pics she took in place of romantic sunset snaps? Those aren’t going in anyone’s wedding album. Not that Zach will forget them anytime soon.

As each item on Jenna’s anti-couples list is checked off, the anti-honeymoon with Zach feels more and more like the real thing, and she wishes the list was just a little bit longer…and even steamier.

My Review…..

The anti-honeymoon by Bethany Michaels is a funny book…..

Poor Jenna feels like the whole of her wedding is a publicity stunt, the dress is horrid, the shoes too tight, but when her fiancé puts her two favourite people in the world in a tiny corner, Jenna’s had enough. It doesn’t feel right and after talking to Aggie (one of the people she invited) Jenna has some serious thinking to do…..

Zach doesn’t know why he’s come to this stupid wedding, he and Eliot haven’t been friends for a while, and when his ex-best friend walked away with the company they both worked on, that was the final nail in their friendship. Was Elliot trying to reach out with an olive branch? Or was it something else?

But before he can pull away, the back door of the car opens and a pile of while lace falls in…..

Zach helps Jenna to escape from the wedding. He then helps her get to the resort she’d booked for the honeymoon.

Zach hits a snag, he’s beginning to really like Jenna, would it be inappropriate for him to hit on the ex-fiancée of his ex-best friend?

Jenna and Zach seemed a much better fit than Jenna and her ex.

The “to-do list” Jenna has compiled made me chuckle, from couple yoga to kick boxing. It’s all in the name, it’s the opposite of whatever she had written.

I got the feeling that Jenna and Eliot were more of a parents wish for them to be together (they’d also known each other for years, until he’d asked Jenna to marry him)

Jenna and Zach are totally different, both into each other, ready to have a laugh and complement each other.

With both hoping that the anti-honeymoon will last for just a little longer…..

But what happens when the Anti-honeymoon is over? Where will it leave them both?

And is Zach using Jenna for information on a failing company that he use to half own?

I must admit it’s the first time I’ve heard of any of those things being done on honeymoon. But it did have me chuckling at odd moments.

Monday’s Post

What a beautiful day today. The sun was out, a little chilly but it made a nice change to walk to work with the sun on my back.

Upheaval is imminent, this damn virus is playing havoc with daily life. Self isolation, bulk buying and general ignorance is causing mayhem. Being told in work that there is a possibility of work hours were going to be cut.

The elderly being held hostage in their own homes I find laughable. Other countries weren’t doing it!! And then we have the conspiracy theories!! The elderly are being targeted because there are too many!!

Yes it’s sad and worrying, but we can’t be held to ransom, common sense should tell you that personal hygiene should a priority. The common cold and this virus share many traits, so spend a few days getting better, and please stop shouting this blasted virus’s name all over the place!!

Book Review

Alpha and Omega (Project Blue) Book 1 by Carol T. Luna

Description ……

Ao never believed in monsters—not after being branded one since childhood. Exiled, he lives with his adoptive guardian, Kaisei Aizawa, amidst verdant valleys surrounded by desolation.

Humanity only had themselves to blame for the wretched landscape. Their war poisoned the seas. Their greed coveted the fertile and the green.

Their ambition set it ablaze.
One hundred years had passed since the war banished Talus to the skies. Doomed to chase the sun, the once proud nation survives as a floating city. But the fallen always hunger for more.

When the Talarians descend to claim the earth as their own, Ao escapes capture—but nothing is without its price. The only man he ever saw as family, Kaisei, is imprisoned instead.

Ao vows to rescue him, no matter the cost—even if it means taking a stand against the most powerful nation left on earth. He knows of the risks. He knows of the dangers. But never would he know that someday, somehow, he would finally believe in monsters.

My Review…..

After killing his sister, Ao was banished, he would have died if it hadn’t been for the Doc, he took him, and began to teach him trapping and showed Ao how to fight, how to put that restless energy into something else. They live a simple life, going to the outpost to trade. It’s Ao’s highlight, and he has managed to get a gift for his friend and guardian. Not quite sure how old Ao is, I’m thinking late teens maybe.

They are trading when it all goes horribly wrong for Ao. Talarians are seen in the distance, this land they live in isn’t to be invaded. But that’s not what happens, Ao goes to fight, and in the ensuing commotion, his beloved friend and guardian Kaisei is taken!!

Reading the back cover, I got the distinct impression that Ao was either disfigured or looked like a monster. So are we talking metaphorically? Because he killed his sister? He’s an outcast in his village, so maybe he sees himself a monster.

Ao needs to find and rescue Kaisei, if not for his friend, Ao would have been lost. He’s been like a father to him, but Ao has no idea where to go, so he follows the slave train in the hopes of seeing and maybe freeing Kaisei…..

Ao is captured by the Talarian’s, but he manages to escape. Still hoping to find Kaisei, Ao never gives up hope, and there are a lot of things he has to do in order to survive…..

Ao is found and cared for by a group of freedom fighters known as the Silver Legion. He joins them in his bid to find and rescue Kaisei. There are plenty of battles to keep the bloodthirsty happy. Monsters that hunt them as well as the Talarian guards. Ao gets himself into a few scrapes, and a few close moments to dying. But his will to survive is stronger than his will to give up, he knows Doc is alive, and would be searching for him if he could.

So does Ao find Kaisei? Will he be persuaded to join the Silver Legion? And what are the Talarian’s up to? And why do they only want the young people? A few questions that I’m hoping the next book will answer 😉

Wow, that was really good. A post apocalyptic world. The author had really captured it well. The fight scenes were pretty well graphic, but brief. The characters were really well thought out, and I could picture them really easily. Daru was one of my favourite’s the trader and friend, some of his witty comebacks had me chuckling. Gen a silver legion fighter, her dry sense of humour is a good companion for Ao as they search for his guardian. The scenes flow from one chapter to another (you get some that seem to jump around too much) I’m definitely ready to read book 2.

Sunday’s Post

Rained on and off for most of the day.

A lazy day today. Laundry and watching a movie day ……

Watched the Lion King….. Love this film 💜it’s my son’s favourite film. He took me to London for my 40th birthday. We watched it in the theatre.

I took him to see the Disney cartoon version when it first came out. And from then on it was his favourite film.

We are off to watch it outdoors later in the year.

Caught up with laundry, reviews and family over the phone.

Saturday’s Post

Listening to the rain in bed this morning, I did hope it was going to stop by the time I got up. And it did, but as for anything else that morning, I wasn’t so lucky!! Delivery was late, delivery was huge!! And no help until 11am, an hour on my own lifting and shifting.

The rest of my shift went relatively quick, and man was it busy!! Considering what’s going on in the UK (and the world) at the moment, you have thought the restaurant would have been deserted…..

No we were busy until late afternoon….

And when clocking off came round, I gladly went home.

Work haven’t asked if I can go in tomorrow, so it’s a Sunday full of washing and reading 😉

Friday’s Post

With all the madness that’s going on in the world it’s hard to find any levity.

I don’t do videos, I’m just a watcher 😉 and I’ll admit to getting lost in there (there is no clock, so before you know it an hour has disappeared) there are so many videos to watch, and you can tailor it for your viewing pleasure.

As you know we have a new kitchen manager, what I found out it was it might only be for eight weeks! He’s giving us a trial, and if he likes the place he will stay.

Watching the grill chefs chat to him is funny, if they aren’t trying to impress him with their stupid tales of drinking and life, then they are so far up his backside with “oh yes I think that’s an excellent idea”, or “yes your totally right”……

On a quick serious note, please be safe, please be sensible, and please leave a few toilet rolls on the shelf 😉

Thursday’s Post

Thursday sees me and Emma doing the delivery. But first, the cold walk to work, Throe on w little light drizzle and we have a completely different weather pattern from yesterday!!

So delivery…… not too bad today, so that means a large one on Saturday (of course)

Oh and we have a new kitchen manager (yes we broke the last one!) well I didn’t, the other idiots working with me did that. Backstabbing and underhanded tactics had the kitchen manager going!! So new one, is a rather tall gentleman!! Hoping he can knock a few heads together, and get us all working together (I’m not going to hold my breath) I thought that about the last one (but what do I know?)

Wednesday’s Post

Yay day off 😊

Popped up to the grave this morning. Did a little shopping in town. Then popped over to see a dear friend.

Whilst having lunch we watched a film, today a romantic comedy……

Trainwreck is a 2015 American romantic comedy film directed by Judd Apatow and written by Amy Schumer. The film stars Schumer and Bill Hader along with an ensemble cast that includes Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, John Cena, Vanessa Bayer, Tilda Swinton, Ezra Miller, and LeBron James. The film is about a hard-drinking, promiscuous, free-spirited young magazine writer named Amy Townsend (Schumer) who has her first serious relationship with a prominent orthopedic surgeon named Aaron Conners (Hader).

Then we tried to watch Uncle ……

Andy is an out-of-work musician who is down on his luck. With not much good in his life, Andy is on the verge of committing suicide. Then he gets a call from his sister, Sam, that changes his life. Sam begs Andy to help care for her preteen son, Errol, which he reluctantly agrees to. As the uncle and nephew start to spend more time together, the boy – who is older before his time – helps his uncle be less of a 30-something man-child and transform into more of a responsible adult.

Tuesday’s Post

Delivery day…..

Gets in, and guess what? Yup! We are still discussing yesterday’s events….

Today I have an update!!

So FB is still quiet (no one has heard from fiancée or the line chef, and the girlfriend has gone quiet too)

But the best bit? He proposed to the new girlfriend!!! I kid you not, I couldn’t make this stuff up!! She has him on video proposing, so she sent it to one of my work colleagues (well two to be exact) to prove he was being a cheat!!

As you can imagine, it was a hot topic of conversation.

Looking forward to my day off tomorrow.

Monday’s Post

Yes it’s late….

So why bother????

Back to work today…..

And I walk into a WHOLE lot of DRAMA!!!

Can’t remember if I told you…..

At work we had my assistant manager and a line chef having an affair!! He’s engaged, she’s single.

Well over the weekend it all kicked off!! My ex-assistant manager (she left a few weeks back) found out that her “boyfriend” (the line chef) had moved back into the house he shared with his fiancée!! Well she wasn’t happy (as you can imagine) so she was sick and tired of being lied to (apparently he’d told her, that he’d left his fiancée and wanted to stay with her) he’d told her he was visiting his son (from a previous relationship) when in fact he’d gone back to the fiancée.

So on FB her best friend called the “boyfriend” out!! Saying he was a lying, cheating scumbag. He’d broken her best friends heart!!

We then find out, not only was he staying with the new girlfriend, but he was still texting the fiancée.

My head was pinging all over the place I can tell you🤨🙄🙄

Surprise me (A Dragon Loves Curves) by Aidy Award

What happens when a Demon Dragon
Warrior throws a Valentine’s Day surprise birthday party for his soulmate?
Glitter volcanos, a unicorn ice cream machine that poops rainbow sherbet, and an attack by the forces of evil.
Birthday parties are hell.

Jett doesn’t have any idea how old he or when he was born was thanks to Ereshkigal’s curse. He’s never even had a birthday, much less a party. Not a whole lot of celebrating in hell.
He couldn’t even imagine celebrating the passing of his years. He’d much rather mark the passing of time since he’d met Yvaine.
If anyone’s birthday should be celebrated it was that of his soulmate.
But Jett and the Dragon Warriors aren’t the only magical beings that want to show up to the party.
Nobody likes a forces-of-evil party crasher, especially when they’re trying to kidnap the birthday girl.

My Review…..

This is a fun read. A short story about Kett and Yvaine.

They are happily mated, and are setting about creating a new life for both themselves and their Demon Dragons (a new class of Dragon, these can control shadows) after lifting the Demon Dragon’s curse, they live to follow Jett.
So Jett has to find a castle for his “family” and his mate!! No easy feat, it’s hard enough finding real estate as it, but throw in dragons adjusting to living above the ground, and keeping his mate safe from the Black Dragon and other evil forces wanting his mate, and you’ve got a headache in the making…..

So when Yvaine asks Jett when his birthday is, they both want to celebrate (Yvaine wants to show her yummy dragon how much she cares, and Jett wants to celebrate hers) but there’s a problem, neither know the date they were born. So they both decide to surprise one another with a surprise party.

We have a laugh when Jett takes a group of his dragons to a shop that sells party stuff. We also catch up with old couples.

And the surprise…. we’ll your going up have to read it yourself and find that one out 😉

Sunday’s Post

Final full day of rest. So I took it easy. We had a new washing machine delivered (old one broke a few days ago, so had to ask landlord for a repair or new one, we got a new one 😊

Plumbing that thing in was a nightmare!!! We had to cut the old one out, and then make cuts into the kitchen units to feed the plug through!!!

Getting the ok from the landlord was fun (she was in the middle of nowhere with no signal!!) but we got the ok (eventually) and with a few minor adjustments (and a couple of swear words) they plumbed it in. Thank goodness I’ve only got a few wash loads to do (mainly my penguin pj’s) 😊

Also managed to read and finish off reviews. 👍🏻

Sent a gift via amazon to a dear friend of mine. She lives in the US, and usually I’m on top of Presents, but this month got away from me, the cold I had didn’t help. So I hope she gets a kick out of the gift I chose.

We met on FB in a group, I’d recently found an author, and I’d wanted to find out more, so going into the book group seemed like a good idea), I got chatting to a lovely lady, we then started chatting on private messages, and the rest is history ……

We’ve met twice in the 10-11 years we’ve known each other. After the private messages, we began to write to one another, mostly about the books we were reading, then about ourselves and our families.

And as it’s her birthday today. I’d like to wish her a happy Birthday 🥳

These are in my garden at the moment. Every time I see them they make me smile, I’ve been meaning to take pictures for the last week or so, taking a breath of fresh air, (been a couple of days😉) I took a picture.

Spirit Bound (sisters of the Heart series) book 2 by Christine Feehan

Lethal undercover agent Stefan Prakenskii knew a thousand ways to kills a man–and twice as many ways to pleasure a woman. That’s what made him look forward to his new mission: arrive in the coastal town of Sea Haven and insinuate himself in the life of an elusive beauty who had mysterious ties to his past, and a link to a dangerously seductive, and equally elusive master criminal who wanted only one thing: to possess her.

Judith Henderson was an artist on the rise–an ethereal, and haunted woman whose own picture-perfect beauty stirred the souls of two men who have made her their obsession. For years she has been waiting for someone to come and unlock the passion and fire within her–waiting for the right man to surrender it to. But only one man can survive her secrets, and the shadow she has cast over both their lives.

My Review….

Judith is part of a sisterhood, they aren’t related by blood or marriage, but of a violent past.
Coming together in a support group, the women now live together on a farm, protecting and supporting each other.
Meeting a charismatic man, a young Judith falls in love, and a whirlwind romance follows, but finding out he killed her brother changed all that for her, and so she runs.
Hiding away from the world. Her only comforts are her “sisters” and her talent. She paints, she restores art work and she makes kaleidoscopes.
Stefan is another of Prakenskii brother’s, but he’s not here for his brothers, he’s following a lead, one he hopes will catch him a master criminal.
But meeting Judith in the flesh catches him off guard (he’s seen her in a photo and was instantly attracted, but he’s using her as bait, well that’s what he tells himself)
Have to admit this wasn’t one of my favourite books in this series. But it’s a great addition. We get to meet another Prakenskii brother. And when he marks his woman (they zap the hand and it somehow connects them) they are sealed for life.
We also get to witness the interaction with the brothers (Lev and Stefan) both are going by different names, but there is no mistaking the Prakenskii lineage. You’d think their meeting would be a happy one, but it’s not, Levi suspects his brother of using Judith, and tells him to leave her alone, he loves Judith like a sister, and to make Rikki cry will being out the bear in Lev.

So will Stefan leave Judith once he gets the job done? Will he be able to walk away? And what else is Judith hiding?

Book Review

Worth the Wait by Traci Douglas

Mandy Reynolds needs a reset on life in so many ways. Her acting career isn’t
exactly where she’d hoped it to be. She can’t even get a job as a germ for a
commercial. When she inherits half a house she sees it as a sign and heads home to
Heavenly Falls, Illinois. She’ll sell the house, and use the money to take her
career to the next level in Los Angeles. That is if she can convince her
hard-headed––and stupidly gorgeous–– ex-stepbrother, Alex Noonan, to sell fast.

The last time Alex saw Mandy, she was a gangly teen, who followed him around like a
sad puppy. But she’s grown into a smart and funny woman, who is as frustrating as
she is beautiful. The fact that they have to live in the house––together––while they
fix it up, is one temptation he doesn’t need. And while he’s having fun spending
time with her, she’s moving on soon, and he needs time to heal.

Plus, she has no idea he’s got a secret that could put a monkey wrench in all of her plans...

My Review…..
Mandy needs help, her acting career isn’t where it should be (well in her opinion), so when she gets the news she’s to inherit half a house, it’s the answer to her prayers, fix it up… sell it on…. easy…. well it would be if it wasn’t for her brother, well stepbrother, well in fact not even that now their parents are divorced, he won’t help her.
Alex wants this house, he has plans, and they don’t include Mandy. He wants to use the house as a showpiece, to show potential customers what he can do. Being an ex-investigator for the IRS paid the bills, but after being shot, Alex now suffers with anxiety and PTSD. So working on the house, he’s hoping will help him.
Neither can afford to buy one another out, so they agree to work together, fix the house, then Alex can buy her out. Then Mandy will be back on the road to stardom.
The story trots along, with both Mandy and Alex fighting and repairing the house, they also take sneaky peeks at one another.
Mandy thinks she’s nothing like her mother, she was into being with “the one” the relationships never lasted. So subconsciously she’s always on the move, and never getting involved in any long term relationships. The love affair between her mother and Alex’s father lasted only for a year, but long enough for Mandy to have an enormous crush.
Have to admit love affairs between siblings isn’t on my reading list. I know it’s only step-siblings, (but I have stepdaughters, and I just couldn’t see my son and his stepsister ever being a couple) but that’s my opinion. But saying that, it’s a nice story. Plenty of loose ends that could have been sorted. And plenty of questions that went unanswered. A little frustrating at times.
So will Mandy move on, once the house is ready? Will Alex be able to see past his failings? Can he forgive Mandy for caring, and wanting the best for him? And can they be more than step-siblings?

Saturday’s Post

Drink for you to try 😉

Another day in bed!! Do I feel a little guilty? A little, but since my last really bad cold, I can’t shake this cough. I now have asthma, so a cold quickly turns into a cough. Taking nearly a week off seems to have helped, by now I’ve got this cough back!!

Defy Me (Dragons Love Curves) Book 6 Aidy Award

I know full well I don’t get to even feel love, much less fall in it.
No soul, no soulmate. Ever.
I don’t have room for stolen kisses and fantasies of of making her mine. I’ve got to break the curse on my brethren and take down the King of Hell.
So why is the dragon part of me insisting on marking and claiming this strange and beautiful woman who just walked into my life (and drank my beer)?

My life is a wreck. Really weird stuff is happening, like how I accidentally keep turning this hot guy into a dragon and how I really, really wants to kiss him. Again.
What am I thinking? Dark and broody bad boys with those kind of six-pack abs only want one thing, and they don’t want it from me ang my big ole butt.
But we’re stuck together until we can figure out how to break some crazy supernatural curse. How can any of this even be real?

My Review……

That was such a good read. We’ve read about Jett almost from the beginning of this series. He played both sides, being both evil and good. Didn’t like him at first, until we get to know him.
He needed to free his brethren, they all serve the Black Dragon, albeit unwillingly. But Jett wants out for himself and his brothers.

Yvaine is a pickpocket, only taking from those to can afford it. But she needs to get to

It’s instant attraction for both of them, Jett doesn’t believe in mates (well not for him and his demon dragons) they don’t have a soul, so how can they have a mate?! And these warm fuzzy feelings he has to protect and care for Yvaine there are just nuts, he has to got time to care about her, his brethren should come first…. shouldn’t they?

We catch up with Jett in a pub, he’s meeting someone to break the demon dragons curse, what he gets a whole lot more.
We get more story about the origin of Jett, and the demon dragons (who in previous books really aren’t very nice) over time they are growing on you, we find out, that they are cursed, so don’t really have a choice in what they do.

Loved how we keep what Yvaine is a secret until the last few chapters. Catching up with previous characters from other books is always fun (except for Maych the leader of the Red Dragons, he needs his mate)

So does Jett get his happy ending? Will Yvaine find out who she is? Will Jett find out what she is? And will they both be able to break the demon dragon curse?

Friday’s Post

The weather today was a total contrast to yesterday’s. Sun was out, but still a little chilly. Not that I’d know, I was still in bed. Getting better, just a cough (which was here anyway!!)

Off tomorrow, so thinking I might catch up with a few reviews 😉

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

Sir Loin of Beef (Grade A Beefcakes series) by Vanessa Vale.

When cowboy Duke meets small-town librarian Kaitlyn, he knows he has to claim her. But Duke shares everything with his best friend, Jed — and soon, Kaitlyn will be in for the ride of her life… A red-hot ménage romance from a USA Todaybestselling author!

They might call me Sir Loin of Beef, but when I see Kaitlyn for the first time, stick a fork in me, I’m done.

But I won’t claim her alone. Jed Cassidy and I share everything, and that includes her. If the sweet little librarian isn’t ready to be wrangled by two rodeo champs, we’ll just have to break her in nice and slow. She’s ours. We will win her over—body and soul—and when we do? Well, let’s just say we’ll give her a hard ride…and it’ll last a hell of a lot longer than eight seconds.

Kaitlyn Leary takes one look at the sexy cowboys and can’t remember the last time she was so eager for a double helping of… big beef. But giving in to desire might ruin everything. Because the truth is that this small town librarian isn’t all she seems. Landon Duke and Jed might be talking about a future of picket fences and making babies, but the past could destroy it all. Still…two cowboys?

Who could resist?

Remember: With a Vanessa Vale book, one cowboy is never enough. In this smokin’ hot series, each heroine gets an extra helping (or two) of Grade-A Beefcake.

Books in the series ……

Book 1 Sir Loin of Beef

Book 2 T-Bone

Book 3 Tri-Tip

Book 4 Porterhouse

Book 5 Skirt Steak

My Review…..
Kaitlyn has been away, but now she’s back in her hometown, after living with her beloved aunt, she’s ready to face her demons. And the people who live here, and just maybe find love……
Out with her best friend, they go to a bar which is holding a stripper event, not usually Kaitlyn’s thing, but she needs a little fun in her life. The family house is in ruins, and she needs to do two jobs just to make ends meet and to complete the maintenance on the house.
Landon Duke or “Duke” to his friends is bored, bored of the same thing, after being a rodeo star “Sir Loin of Beef” for many years, he’s had his fill of women thrown off themselves at him, he wants what his parents have, he wants “the one”, but he won’t be on his own, his childhood friend and rodeo partner will be in on the action too.
Jed works in his bar, he likes the job, keeps him busy after years on the rodeo circuit. Usually he takes up the offers the ladies throw at him, but tonight he feels different.
They meet, they have fun in Jed’s office, then Kaitlyn is pulling away and running for home!!!
What Jed and Duke don’t realise and Kaitlyn does is the fact her drunken father almost killed Duke’s parents. Ashamed of what she did, Kaitlyn vows never to see the cowboys again!!!
Oh and don’t forget her stalker!! After two failed dates, he just won’t take no for an answer!!!
So will they all get a happy ending? Will the Duke family be able to look past her family history and move on? Will Kaitlyn be able to forgive herself?
That was a cringeworthy read. It did read like a porn movie at one point, and that did make me laugh.
But it was a fun filled couple of hours. And if you read it for what it’s meant to be you’ll be laughing too.

Thursday’s Post

A cold and wet day today. It’s delivery day, but without me…..

At home still getting over this head cold 🤧

Have I done much today? No, have I read? No, I’ve been listening to music and looking out the window. I’m sure I’ll be kicking myself next week, cursing that I had all that time to read, and I didn’t. But at the moment, I’ll just take the time to listen to the rain on the window.

Book Review 👩🏻‍💻

CIRCLE OF THE PACK (The Quytel Series) Book Three by JANE S. MORRISSEY

“The Quytel are a rare and ancient race. They are born as humans with a specific genetic marker and psychic abilities giving them the potential to become Quytel. It is a rare condition that occurs only a handful of times in each century, and few can survive the initiation process. To become Quytel means joining one of the seven Quytel Circles made up of three Judges, three Seekers, seven Warriors and one Commander. Circles are bound to a geographic territory they must protect and serve. Through near immortality, powerful psychic abilities, and a bond that ties them together, this ancient order has been charged with maintaining the balance of paranormal power on earth.”

The mysterious and elusive Maliha Courtland has ensnared Ash Montgomery and he’s not happy about it. When she disappears, he is the only one who can track her. What he finds will change his life forever.

Not long after her recovery from a brutal demon attack, Maliha finds herself a prisoner. As she fights for her sanity, she uncovers a part of herself she never could have imagined. Ash may be the one person who can keep her safe, but what will he have to sacrifice in the process?

My Review…..

Oh Wow!! That was a Really good read. So much going on. I personally would have liked to have read the first two books, as I felt a few things were running in the background of this book.
Maliha is a wolf shifter, she’s also connected to the earth like her twin brother Cole.
It looks like in previous books Mali had been attacked and she’s recuperating, but she’s not a good patient, she needs space from both the facility and Ash!! They’ve always been friends, and recently they had been flirting on and off, but since the attack (Mali was in a fight and got hurt pretty bad by a demon) Ash has backed off, no flirty, just another overbearing male!!
Ash has fallen for Mali, her spirit draws him in, her kindness to others and her determination not to be beaten down. Ash has cultivated the playboy act for so long now, even he believes it, so he can’t see how he can assure Mali that he wants her for as long as she’s alive (being a warrior for the Quytel, brings a longevity to his life, he’s seen his family line die out)
The two of them have history (so I think books one and two might have a little more of their story) the flirting back and forth, Ash convinced that she’s the one for him, Mali wanting more from Ash than just talk. And when Mali is captured, Ash is driven to find her. He’s realised he can’t do without her, they will be together, he just has to find her….
There are many layers to the Quytel (it had me confused until I’d gotten it straight in my head) so ……
At the top we have Jonas, he’s the commander, he’s linked psychically to all the levels in his group, then there are the three judges, three seekers, those are followed by seven warriors.
And then we get to the vessels , there are only ever fourteen active Vessels (one dies, one takes its place) they exist on earth and each are of vital importance. They are also more powerful than an entire Quytel Circle, their destructive and healing power unequalled. To bond with a vessel can increase lifespan and boost your own gifts.
There are also seven other commanders, they are all around the world.
And the bad guys are just as complicated!! I needed a pen and paper to keep notes. We have werewolves, demons, mages and The Order of Sennestia Cruterra.
The Order is Sennestia Cruterra is the Quytel’s main rival for control of power on Earth. Members are powerful mages, they can also control the elements of Water, Earth, Fire and wind.
They are formidable opponents, devious and deadly!!
The characters are all great, we were introduced to just a select few, but heard about many more. Jonas is the commander of the group, Mack is his second in command. (Now there is a back story worth investigating) Dahlia is a vessel, she’s looked after by Firhan, but I suspect there is more to that story also.
The descriptions in this book have you imagining the world they live in really easily. The story flows really well.
And I can’t wait to read the next instalment. I’m tempted to go back and read the first two books.

Wednesday’s Post

Now, usually I’m out and about on my day off…..

Not today, trying to get rid of this head cold, so I’ve spent the day in my pj’s and my bed.

Yes I could have read loads, but I’ve listened to music and just chilled. I had a couple of naps.

Tuesday’s Post

Delivery day with a head cold is no fun. But at the moment we luckily have a kitchen manager from another restaurant, she’d brought along two of her staff (one being a young lad to do pot wash) I got help with bringing in the delivery, also got a hard putting it away.

I’ll have to admit, it was slow going today, the day seem to drag (was it because I only had salads to concentrate on? I did a little washing up, but not much)

The walk to and from work today was a dry but really cold one, hoping the snow stays away!

The boy who came back a wolf (Space Shifters Chronicles) by Kara Lockharte.

He wasn’t what she wanted.
He wasn’t right for her.
She was wrong—so wrong.

When Lauryn Daring rejected skinny Xavier Stone’s advances in high school to build an empire in the big city, she had no idea the mistake she was making. But after years apart, the man that walks back into her life is far from the geek she once knew. Xavier changed—in all the right ways. After being stationed on a dangerous planet of werewolves for nearly ten years, the tall, rugged, ferocious, and undeniably sexy soldier is back for what he’s wanted all along: Lauryn.

And this time, Lauryn won’t be able to resist.

READER NOTE: This is one SEXY HOT SHORT STORY featuring an alpha wolf coming home to claim the woman he could never forget.

Space Shifters Chronicles Series.

Wanted by the Werewolf Prince
Taken by the TigerLord
The boy who came back a wolf
My Review…….
Lauryn hadn’t seen Xavier in years, not since he pulled out on a military transport to Alzar-4 after graduation.
They had been the best of friends, inseparable, until he kissed her!!
And now after years of not seeing him, Xavier is back in touch.
What’s a girl to do? Can she forgive him? And why is he in touch now?
Xavier has always loved Lauryn. And now he’s back to claim her. He makes it pretty clear he wants her. And when they meet up he only wants to talk and let his intentions be known. But his animal side wants more. So he takes her, and there is no mistake that she’s now his.
A short but intense story.
Lauryn never wanted to mess up their friendship, but she could see that loving Xavier wouldn’t get her where she wanted to be, and they was rich and powerful, she never wanted to be hungry or weak again, as a child she had plenty of that. But meeting up with Xavier made her realise that she could have gotten what she wanted, and he would still have loved her.
It could have been made into a longer story, it had plenty of content. And in parts it felt a little rushed. But it was a fun read for a Sunday afternoon.

Sunday’s Post

The sun almost blinded me when I opened the curtains this morning. It made for a nice surprise, never sure what Mother Nature has planned at the moment.

So I made the most of it. Tidied the garden (well Kim’s little area mainly) and cleared away the rubbish blown about by the recent storms.

Also got up to see Kim and tidy her grave, her flowers were all over the place!! Managed to rescue most of them, went to look at getting a few primrose’s or daffodils for the grave, didn’t find any that were nice enough. But we bumped into plenty of people we knew!!

Book Review

Devil at the Gates by Lauren Smith

A duke with a dark past rescues a the daughter of a fencing master. What begins as a battle of wills becomes a battle of heart as Christmas works its magic.

My Review ….

This book originally started out in a box set. But the author has now released it on its own.

A short story set in the late 1700’s.

The Duke of Frostmore, also known as the Dark Duke, or the Devil of Dover. Redmond “Red” Barrington wasn’t always like the title he was now known as. He’d been a better man, but after finding his new wife in bed with his brother, Redmond had stepped off the cliff and into hell. His heart black and cold, vowing never to love again…..

Harriet needed to escape, her stepfather had plans for her, and they weren’t very nice ones. Escaping without her beloved mother was hard, but she was dying and Harriet couldn’t risk her. So with the aid of the housekeeper and her coachman she makes a bid for freedom…..

Harriet goes to the Dark Duke’s home to ask for his aid, her carriage has over overturned and the driver is badly injured. it’s not a good idea, in fact it’s a dangerous idea, but what choice has Harriet got? She won’t go home, not whilst that man is there. She needs the Dark Duke’s help.

An agreement is made, she will stay until she is well, and her coachman’s leg has mended. Then he will help her reconnect with her mother’s family.

Yes it has the predictable ending, and the journey getting there was a little rough. Red didn’t want anyone in his home or heart, but Harriet managed both. She stirs feelings in him that he thought were long dead. But he won’t love again, that hurt the last time he did it.

Once Harriet got to know Red a little better, saw past the bluster and anger, saw the man still hurting after seven lonely years. But she won’t trust him, he may give her back to her stepfather, or worse, take her himself. She must remain on guard at all times.

It’s a nice little read. I know it was intended as a Christmas read, but I didn’t get it then 😉but it’s nice my written, and can be read in a few hours.
