Bears Behaving Badly by MaryJanice Davidson
Description…..
These social worker bear shifters give the term “mama bear” a whole new meaning! Bestselling author MaryJanice Davidson is back with this brand-new paranormal romance series featuring a foster care system for at-risk shifter babies and teens.
Werebear shifter Annette Garsea is a caseworker for the Interspecies Placement Agency. When a selectively mute and freakishly strong teen werewolf is put in her custody, Annette has to uncover the young girl’s secrets if she’s to have any hopes of helping her. And not even the growling of a scruffy private investigator can distract her from her mission…
Bear shifter David Auberon appreciates Annette’s work with at-risk teen shifters, but he’s not sure if her latest charge is so much a vulnerable teen as a predator who should be locked up. All that changes when he, Annette, and her motley band of juveniles find themselves dodging multiple murder attempts and uncovering a trafficking cartel that doesn’t just threaten the kids, but risks discovery of the shifters by the wider world of homo sapiens.
“We’re not dating, we’ve never been dating, we’re not going to hook up, no way, absolutely not…oh. Oops.
My primary focus has always been taking care of were-babies in the interspecies foster care system. I am unapologetically a fierce mama bear shifter and I am completely united with my team behind protecting at-risk were-children. So I have no idea why the appealing scruffy bear shifter PI David Auberon keeps hanging around, asking for sweets, and being charming and flirty. I’ve certainly got no time for shy solitary bears who can’t ask for what they want.
But what am I to do when a hideous bad guy shows up and I need to rescue a were-baby, except call on the skills of the handsome and growly PI? And if dodging enemies puts us in a tight spot…well, I’m not against tight spots.”

My Review…..
Annette is a werebear, she’s also a social worker who specialises in juvenile shifters. She’s a great character, ready to defend the helpless, her heart is huge, is she a soft touch? I don’t think so, she ready with a hug, but also a lecture…..
David Auberon is also a werebear, he works in the same department and is a private investigator. He’s had a soft spot for Annette for a while, so us happy to help her figure this case out, and who know, maybe he can get to know her a little better.
I got the impression he’s a little shy, he can’t tell Annette he fancies her, so he just happens to “pop by” to help when she needs it the most.
We catch up with them just after David brings in a young female werewolf, she’s been caught beating up an adult werewolf, but can’t it won’t tell anyone why.
So it doesn’t help Annette that much, how can she sort the young girl out, if she won’t help?!
We have a story of child abuse and possible murders. Have Annette and David stumbled onto something more sinister?
The romance between David and Annette is a slow burn …which is ok, as I’m enjoying the mystery rather than the romance.
The secondary characters help to make this book an enjoyable read.
Both Annette and David’s colleagues are always trying to get them together. The juvenile shifters tug at your heartstrings.
This is my first book by the Author and the first in her new series …. BeWere series, and I’m hoping it won’t be the last.
