Friday’s Post

A scorcher of a day today. Too hot to do much. I had a doctors appt this morning, that an ordeal in its self!! But I did it, and avoided most of the crowds.

Just a couple of walks today, far too hot to go too far!

Off to see my dad tomorrow😊 it’s been a while and I’m looking forward to spending sometime with him.

“When it was three against one, I was always going to be overwhelmed.”

The Bridgewater way of two men marrying one woman is uncommon in the Montana territory.

But three men marrying one woman? That is unheard of, especially for beautiful Olivia Weston. Her fate, it seems, will have her married to one man – a man she doesn’t love.

But when her betrothed treats her in a cruel manner, she rejects him and not long afterwards catches the eye of three handsome and virile ranchers.

Cross, Rhys and Simon are as different as three men can be. But they have one thing in common; they are determined to offer Olivia the protection of marriage and the promise of endless carnal pleasures.

Olivia worries that her instant attraction and hasty agreement to marry three men stems from a defect in her character. What kind of woman not just love three men, but make the most intimate parts of herself available to their lustful attention? The chemistry between them is like lightning.

Can she deny it? Or will Olivia submit to become the most sated Bridgewater wife in this ongoing ménage series?

My Review……

Olivia has lead a quiet and sheltered life, socialising with ladies and attending a few dances and luncheons. She wants to debate, but it’s not the done thing.

Attending a dance with her beloved uncle she’s avoiding the advances of an a obnoxious man.

The thought of marrying Mr Peters has long since fled her thoughts, she may have thought to marry for the sake of it, works grow to love him over time. But to be manhandled and bruised by him is another thing. Talking to her uncle, he totally agrees, but she knows Mr Peters won’t leave her alone.

She needs to avoid him at all costs, but how?

Cross, Rhys and Simon have always intended to marry and love one woman. For her to be their world, cherish and protect her. To have a family they’ve always longed for.

Bridgewater will be the place they will raise their family. Along with other men in their army regiment they’ve build a life. They’ve built a home. Slowly filling the houses up with women, Cross, Simon and Rhys want what their friends have found. A woman to love.

Cross and Rhys meet Olivia at a dance, they are in town to buy a horse with Simon.

They are fascinated with the lovely young woman, she looks like she would fit them perfectly, shy but with a fire in her eyes.

Asking her to dance was easy, enfolding her in their embraces was torture. They needed Simon to meet her, but they know without a doubt she’s the one for them.

Olivia dances with two handsome men, they give her feelings she’s never felt before. But it’s wrong to feel strongly about two men at once, isn’t it?

Telling them about the experience with Mr Peters has her seeing how men protect women properly. And before you know it, her uncle is agreeing for her to be married! To a third man! All this is crazy, but deep down it’s what she wants.

It’s a short story, it’s a fun read.

We have enough sex to keep you happy. We have drama and suspense when Mr Peters comes knocking! And we have three men willing to make a woman happy. What’s not to love?

Me personally I’d like it to be longer. It had the potential to be a longer read, lots of stuff you could expand on.

But if a short naughty story is your thing, then pick it up.

USA Today Bestseller of steamy historical westerns.

Who doesn’t love the romance of the old West?

Vanessa Vale takes the sensual appeal of rugged cowboys a step further with her bestselling books set in the Montana Territory. They are much more than just sexy historical westerns. They’re deliciously naughty reads that sometimes push the boundaries of fantasy. It’s pure escapism with quite a few very hot, very alpha cowboys.

When she’s not writing, Vanessa savors the insanity of raising two boys, is figuring out how many meals she can make with a pressure cooker, and teaches a pretty mean karate class. She considers herself to be remarkably normal, exceedingly introverted and fairly vanilla, which does not explain her steamy stories and her fascination with cowboys, preferably more than one at a time.

If that weren’t enough, she also writes under the pen name, Vanessa Dare. She lives in the Wild Wild West where there’s an endless source of ‘research’ material.

Thursday’s Post

Today the weather behaved and i got out and managed three walks, it’s all about keeping positive. Going back to the weights and yoga (unless it rains, then it’s a YouTube workout)

I also gave the house a good going over, I washed the curtain separating my dining room from the kitchen. Tomorrow if the weather is nice I’ll do the living room and dining room curtains.

Well ahead of my reviews. I’ve put most of them on goodreads, BookBub and amazon already, but I’ve scheduled quite a few for the next few months 😉

Wednesday’s Post

Before the virus descended upon us, I use to spend time in town and then spent the rest of the afternoon at my friends, we’d have lunch, sometimes watch a film, or just chat. I now get to spend time with her going on a walk. It’s not the same, but considering I hadn’t seen her since March, it’s a step forward.

Got my walks in. Did laundry and housework. Did gardening in the sun with music. Then sat outside reading.

Arc Review….. Barefoot on a Starlit Nigh by Jo McNally 👩🏻‍💻

Barefoot on a Starlit Nigh by Jo McNally

With a little luck, this fake engagement just might become the real deal…

Bridget McKinnon would do anything for her feisty ailing grandma Maura. She’ll even stay close to home and serve up green beer in the Purple Shamrock instead of pursuing her own culinary dreams. But money’s tight. So when a stranger with a sexy brogue asks about the apartment she’s renting out, Bridget hopes she’s landed a little piece of Irish luck…only to find she’s knee-deep in a crazy plan that’s turning her life upside down.

College professor Finn O’Hearn needs this job in Rendezvous Falls—his visa may depend on it. If he can convince his beautiful but tightly wound landlord to be his pretend fiancée, his boss will be happy—as will Bridget’s matchmaking grandma and her meddling book club. Finn and Bridget fool (almost) everyone with their sizzling glances and toe-curling kisses…even as they tell themselves it’s only make-believe.

Playing a part has never been so easy. But when love is real, it’s time to find the courage to start playing by heart…

My Review……

It’s a third book in the series, but you don’t need to read the first two.

That was a fun read. Yes it’s the usual boy meets girl, girl needs help, boy needs a Visa. (Green card the movie, springs to mind)

But the family dynamics had me chuckling for most of the book. The family makes this book worth the read.

With a meddling Nana, cousins who can’t or won’t help Bridget run the pub her dad left her and her cousins. To the kids that constantly run everyone ragged. And do t forget the book club Nana attends, those ladies are funny.

But the family do love one another, they just don’t have time to help Bridget run the pub.

The pub wasn’t Bridget’s dream, a restaurant where she could create her own dreams was what she wanted, but she promised her dad. And now she’s stuck, the pub isn’t making money, so she’s throwing out new ideas to the family, but as usual no one is interested.

Renting a room out seems the logical move, she needs the money, but the last tenant caused so much aggravation, Bridget begins to panic.

Bridget is a micromanager, she can’t give anything up, she runs a tight ship, so it’s her way or not at all!! That’s causing her to run the bar and cook the food mainly on her own, staff don’t stay long.

Finn needs lodgings, he needs a place so his College professor will look at keeping him on. He’s good at his job, but his reputation needs building back up (punching your friend for sleeping with your wife at a graduation presentation isn’t the done thing) Rendezvous Falls have given him a second chance, so he’s not going to blow it, he needs to keep his head down and prove he’s worth the risk.

But when a joke with his boss gets out of hand, he needs to think fast and get to Bridget before anyone else does……

But Bridget isn’t having any of it. The last man she trusted didn’t want to move to Rendezvous Falls with her, in fact not long after she left, he’d moved on!! So a fake engagement? Don’t think it’s going to happen……

As I said the family had me in stitches, but that’s not to say Finn and Bridget didn’t. There had been a little spark of attraction from the beginning, but the amount of time they need to spend together to convince people of their engagement has them looking at each other in a different light.

So will Finn get his tenure at the college? Will he finally be able to get his Green Card? Can Bridget get go of the reins a little? And will the fake engagement turn into a real one?

About the Author

Jo McNally lives in upstate New York with 100 pounds of dog and 200 pounds of husband – her slice of the bed is very small. When she’s not writing or reading romance novels (or clinging to the edge of the bed…), she can often be found on the back porch sipping wine with friends, listening to an eclectic playlist. If the weather is perfect, she might join her husband on the golf course, where she always feels far more competitive than her actual skill-level would suggest.

Tuesday’s Post

Weather was a lot better today. Managed my walks, and I must admit i feel better for going out.

You get stuck into a routine, and then before you know it, a week have passed and you’ve not done nothing!

Got some housework done, made a few quiches and froze one for a future meal.

Calistos (The Guardians of Hades) book 5 by Felicity Heaton

Calistos (The Guardians of Hades) book 5 by Felicity Heaton

Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Air, Calistos was banished from his home by his father, Hades, two centuries ago and given a new duty and purpose—to keep our world and his from colliding in a calamity foreseen by the Moirai. Together with his six brothers, he fights to defend the gates to the Underworld from daemons bent on breaching them and gaining entrance to that forbidden land, striving to protect his home from their dark influence.

Tormented by the death of his twin sister, Calistos wants nothing more than to find a way to save her soul, but the pain of continuing without her, the constant feeling that he got her killed, is slowly pulling him down into the darkness and he knows it’s only a matter of time before he succumbs to the call of the abyss.

Until a battle sets him on a collision course with a kind-hearted and beautiful mortal, one who rouses softer emotions he had sworn he would never risk feeling again, threatening to peel away his mask of playfulness and shatter the barriers around his heart.

Marinda is a woman on a mission—to become a great cellist and repay her father for his faith in her. But her regimented and studious life is thrown into chaos when a handsome man is carted into the ER where she works and takes her hostage, pulling her into a dark and dangerous world… one where she discovers there’s more to her than meets the eye and her entire life has been a lie.

When the enemy makes a play for Marinda and the gates, will Calistos find the strength to let someone into his heart again and look to the future, or will the pain of his past lead him to unleash hell on this world?

Monday’s Post

Well not so much getting up and getting out. Rained for most of the day, but I did managed a walk before dinner, so I got to stretch my legs and gave some fresh air.

As for the rest of the day, I didn’t do much. Read a book, listened to music and catch up with family and friends.

It was my sisters birthday today, so we had a video chat whilst eating lunch, that was fun, we don’t usually do that.

Hoping tomorrow is less wet!

Arc Review…. Zone of Action (In the Zone series) by Cathy Skendrovich 📱

Zone of Action (In the Zone series) by Cathy Skendrovich

Former terror cell expert Audrey Jenkins has seen enough death and destruction to last a lifetime. When she uncovers her ex, Brett, a higher-ranking officer in her unit, selling military secrets, she turns him in and returns to the simpler life she has embraced since leaving the army.

CID Special Agent Cam Harris is a career military man with a strong sense of duty. When a military prisoner who once saved his life in Afghanistan escapes while in his custody, he requests the assignment to track him down.

Cam’s manhunt leads him to Audrey’s door. His prisoner—her ex—will resurface here, he’s sure of it. The feisty woman wants nothing to do with hunting down her ex, but when a terror cell she’s all-too-familiar with launches a deadly attack on army intelligence soldiers and officers, she knows it’s Brett.

Helping Cam is the right thing to do. But the attraction burning between them may be the mistake that gets her and Cam killed… *

Publication date 27/7/2020

My Review …….

“I’ll kill you for this, Audrey Jenkins. Sleep with one eye  open, because I’ll be coming for you, bitch. This isn’t over  by a long shot.” Excerpt from “Zone of Action”

Those words constantly haunt her, and they were uttered by her ex!!

Audrey had noticed her boyfriend acting really weird, and put it down to maybe an affair, that she could have coped with, what she couldn’t accept was the fact Brett was a traitor, to sell out his country was reprehensible, he had to be punished! And facing him in court took guts, he stopped being the man she loved. It was time to move on…..

CID Special Agent Cameron “Cam” Harris wanted to give his friend the benefit of the doubt. He surely couldn’t be a traitor?!

That benefit of the doubt turns out to be the biggest mistake of his career…..

Audrey is living the quiet life, serving her country as a terrorist expert has ended, she’s now a owner of a flower shop.

Having Brett escape him burned Cam, his friend was a traitor, he was going to prison, and Cam wanted to take him there. And now it’s his job to recapture him and put him back in handcuffs.

He’s almost certain Brett will go back and kill his girlfriend, but Cam thinks there is more to it than that, did she hear something she wasn’t suppose to? Or did she have something that Brett needed? Well he was going to find Audrey and ask her. She was either going to help him, or she’s bait!!

The attraction between Cam and Audrey is a slow burn romance, she isn’t ready for anyone yet, and certainly not the best friend of her traitorous ex!!

But as they work together to find Brett, they can’t help but become closer.

But is Cam using Audrey as bait? Will she be able to lure him out? And if Brett takes the bait, will they be able to stop him before he hurts anyone else?

A fast paced action story. A few twists along the way.

I don’t usually read mysteries, but I’m glad I did with this one.

Cam is ex army, a good career cut short after a good friend dies in the field. Taking his training in the army, he becomes an agent that investigates service men and women. He never once thought he’d have to take his best friend to prison.

Audrey is also ex military, so she doesn’t scare easily, which is a good job. Her being hunted by an ex would frighten most people.

They work well together, find clues, working out where Brett might be, and what his game plan is.

The style of writing was really good, very descriptive, flowed really well. Nothing seemed wasted, I didn’t get that feeling of page filling.

Secondary characters Zack and Elena were great, Elena is best friend and coworker to Audrey, their friendship is lovely, very solid. Especially when Brett burns down the flower shop!

I liked Zack, very down to earth, liked his sense of humour (hoping he gets a book)

If you like your romance with a heavy dose of military and mystery, then this book is for you.

Cathy Skendrovich……

I recently moved to Star, Idaho, and live overlooking a beautiful pond. I’m a happily married mom of two twenty-something sons. One is newly married and in the Army, and the other is pursuing his teaching credential. My husband and I are lucky enough to have retired early, and enjoy our time together travelling, gardening, or just hanging out with our seven-year-old Sheltie, Scooter. I have always enjoyed the written word, be it in books, plays, or even letters. Contemporary romance, suspense, and historical fiction have always been my favorite reads, and I’ve logged thousands of hours immersed in the worlds of those various genres.

My education, a teaching career (in English, of course), and raising a family took precedence over writing for many years, though scraps of paper scrawled with my fanciful musings could be found tucked throughout my house during those busy days. Diapers and play-dates couldn’t stem the creativity I had lurking in my brain. I’ve always had an overabundance of ideas compared to writing time.

When I just couldn’t hold back the desire any longer, I started writing down one of my many ideas in the form of a story. Eventually I got brave enough to join an online writing site. Reaction to my story and writing style was so favorable that it encouraged me to continue. With readers constantly telling me to get published, I took their advice and sent out one of my stories, Prisoner of Love. It was published by Entangled Publishing, LLC, in October 2015. It was followed by The Pirate’s Bride, from Literary Wanderlust, in January, 2017, and that book’s sequel, The Pirate Bride’s Holiday Masquerade, also from Literary Wanderlust, which came out October, 2017. My latest novel, Undercover with the Nanny, debuted in April, 2018, from Entangled publishing. My latest book, a military romantic suspense entitled Zone of Action, also through Entangled, will debut on June 22, 2020.

I hope my life story encourages some of you to follow your dreams, too. It’s never too late to start that new career, turn that next corner, or realize your secret passions. If you have the craving to produce that next great screenplay, the next Mona Lisa, or the most divine carrot cake ever imagined, go for it. You’ll never be sorry for trying. Only for letting opportunities pass you by.

Sunday’s Post

Managed a couple of walks today. Not sure if I’ll get a chance to do another.

We started off the day with rain, had a quick glimpse of the sun, then back to a few showers.

Went food shopping, I didn’t get out of the car (but as it’s all about pushing myself, at least it’s a start) but I did watch the people walk past (some with masks, and some not wearing anything at all!)

Chatted with friends and family, and made provisional plans to go meet my dad next Sunday, (probably his house unless it’s really nice weather, then it will be my garden) hoping to go and see my baby sister next weekend as well (it’s her birthday this Monday)

Made notes for a few books I’m reviewing and also finished and sent a review off. I know at some point I’ll have to go back to work, the reviews will definitely slow down, so I’ve got reviews saved (where I’ve read for sites that have sent me stuff early) and ready to go out at a later date!

Can’t believe it’s almost the end of July! Where did that month go?

My Review…..

Heavy is in the band that Eagle manages and Grizz sings in.
He’s known the guys for a while now, not as long as they’ve known each other, but he’s comfortable with them. He had their back and knows they have his.  The names Eagle and Grizz have explain what they are, but Heavy? I did think elephant!  But no, he’s a boar shifter!

“Because I love her, but I hate that I do. Not because of her, but because of who I am. I’m a king, but she’s a Helen of Troy, a beauty beyond anything this world could ever conjure. But she’s out of reach. That doesn’t mean I don’t catch her another three times as the night progresses. And each time I do, I wait for her hands to clasp onto my shoulders. They don’t. A part of me is grateful. If she touched me willingly, we’d know for sure what we’ve always known—that she has no crown-shaped birthmark, that she isn’t a destined queen, that she isn’t mine. The deeper part of me spends the night wishing, while also inanely and frustratingly whispering, She’s the one.Excerpt from Heavy

Henrietta “Henry” is Lion’s sister (first book in the Shifter Nashville series) she’s know everyone a long time, and has had a crush on Heavy forever, but she’s not his mate so she pushed him away until he left!! Why, you ask, well, she was born with a disease that was killing off her senses, until it reaches her blood, and then she’s dead!
She also knew deep down she would never be his queen (she has no crown shaped birthmark) so after he left Nashville and his friends, Henry got on with her life, but with a boar shaped hole in her heart.

“My gut twists. Because I’ve never allowed myself to dig too deep into how wrong that thought is. But I allow it then. For the first time, I dig. And I don’t find gold. I find dust. I find a lost dream. I find the lies I’ve been telling myself. And I realize how selfish I am. How much better Heavy deserves … a queen. My sobs start then, so deep and dark; it’s like nothing I’ve felt since I was young and trapped in my own mind, without any sensation to guide me.Excerpt from Heavy

And when Henry comes back to the group as a band member, fireworks are bound to happen.
Both Henry and Heavy can’t help being drawn together, so is the reason Heavy isn’t in a rush to find his Queen standing in front of him?
His clan need him though, he has to put aside his wants and needs for the moment, someone else has the same disease Henry has, but unlike Henry, this boar isn’t looking so good. What made Henry survive, when others have perished?
This book although short like the other two is full to the brim with anger and passion.
You forget it’s just a short story, but it’s filled with more than just sex!
It’s great that we see the couples from the previous stories. It also hints at the previous series, (but not so much that you feel something is missing)
Really well written, it puts an Victorian feel to the books (very much a Jane Eyre novel) but with a modern twist.
I loved the character of Heavy, he’s been with us through the last two books, very much a solid and stable character, not much irritates him.
Henrietta is more complex, thank goodness for the prologue as I would have thought it too much for a short story.
This story is the saddest of them all (and I wasn’t sure they would get a happy ending) unrequited love, they had been best friends since childhood, first loves, and confidant’s. Almost a Romeo and Juliette type of story. A forbidden and doomed love story.  With every chapter they seem to grow further apart…..
There is also the matter of becoming public to the non shifters (humans) will it be by their hand or unseen forces?
I’ve loved reading these stories and I hope Snake gets a book. I’m also hoping the cousins and roommates get their books too.
Another book I’d highly recommend.
Holly Gunn
I’m the proud momma to a golden retriever named Charlie, two tortoises named Jake and John, a frog named Toad, and a gopher snake.
The latter is my girl, Holly Jr.
There’s also the fact that I’m a thunderstorm-loving, front porch-sitting, hot cocoa-drinking, beauty product-hoarding, self-proclaimed environmentalist who just happens to write erotic romance.
When I decided to go into publishing, I didn’t just want this small business to be about creating stories that catch the reader’s attention and draw them into a new shifter world. I wanted to do something for the creatures who inhabit this world with us. I’ve always had pets. Dogs, cats, hamsters, tortoises, frogs … You name it. Although I spent a good deal of my early life in a cast because of an unusual bone disorder, I would dream from afar of riding horses and braving the wilds (while occasionally sneaking away to do things a girl just shouldn’t try to do with a broken arm, leg, or both). In college, I studied all types of animals in the Biology program I graduated from. Before college, I also did an African Safari in the heart of Nairobi. All of these experiences led to my love of wild animals and to my wish that sanctuaries stay exactly that. I want to protect the Earth we’ve been given and to celebrate the creatures we often overlook (or even the ones that we adore). Hence, the Shifter Kings series was born. And also, hence, all of this is the reason why 5% of all profits for my business will go to various charities, shelters, and sanctuaries to help support wildlife and clean habitats. I hope you enjoy this series!
T. Birmingham & Holly Gunn are the same person (so why both names on the book? Who am I to ask)

Saturday’s Post

As you know I not only do a daily post, I write reviews and puts them on here. Thinking about this earlier got me wanting to share my thought process on reading, reviewing and my love of books in general, so……

I must admit I’m a start at the beginning type of woman. I hate coming in half way through a series (I’m the same with films, if I can’t start at the beginning I can’t get into it, so I don’t bother)

Anyway…. I use to start a book, and if I liked it i would go check to see if it’s in a series, more often than not it was in the middle! Why do authors do that? Why give a free book (because I never buy a middle of the series book) in the middle of the series? Why not give the first book? Because they want to suck you in (well they do me) they want you to want to read about the previous couples and the struggles they’ve endured to get there!

So I now look for the series before I accept a free book. The Reading Cafe and other sites I read and review for can’t always give me the first book in the series, (but I have been lucky and the authors have sometimes sent me them)

So as I said, I now check to see if it’s part of a series. A series isn’t to bad, it’s when the book ends in a cliffhanger!! Oh that drives me crazy!

Weather had a wet start to the day, and the rain stayed here for most of the day. But on the plus side I managed a quick walk this morning.

Book Review…. GRIZZ (Shifter Kings L.A. Book 2) by Holly Gunn 👩🏻‍💻

GRIZZ (Shifter Kings L.A. Book 2) by Holly Gunn & T. Birmingham

A grizzly who’s out to find a perfect queen. A shy tabloid writer with a dark secret. Throw in a meddling ghost, a town full of bear shifters, and a vacation in a gothic mansion and what could go wrong?

Grizzwold Rochester Ambustus is a rock god (or on his way to becoming one)—and the future king of the Grizzly tribe. He’s also world-weary and determined to find a queen who is as angelic and pure as can be.

Esly Ryan is a witch—she’s just not a good one. Good thing this shy bookworm has a day job that keeps her in shifter romances and puts a roof over her head. While Esly may spend her days spinning tales of happily ever after, her own HEA doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

She’s got a secret.

One so dark that, when she finally meets the king she’s waited her whole life for, it might remind him that she’s not the angel he seeks. She’s the madness he despises.

Note: The second book in the Shifter Kings L.A. series is not short, but it is sweet, sassy, sexy, shift-tastic, and a whole lot of Rock ‘n’ Roll … with a little Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester thrown in.

Publication date 10/3/20

My Review…..
Met Grizz in “Eagle” (book 1) a singer in a band, managed by his “brother” Eagle. He does cover versions of other people’s songs. But he has a secret, he writes his own stuff (but finds it too personal to publish) he’s happy where he is, he gets to be who he wants, and in thirty days time, he’ll become King of the Grizzly bears.
But fuck all if I was going to take it lying down.  I was a master of my fate.  I was the creator of my destiny.  And when it got down to it, I was going to find an angel just like the woman who once took me in, even if my anxiety and my worry that I couldn’t protect her, or keep her, plagued me for the rest of my life.”Excerpt from Grizz
Esly is a cousin to Elizabeth, (who was heroine in book 1) she loves to read, she loves her books. A romantic at heart, but will that transfer it’s self to writing a book? No it won’t, she can write her blog with no problem, an article for the paper she works at, not an issue, but the artist in her that needs to write a love story has so far evaded her!
“I can’t deal.  I’m weak.  But I try to make up for that weakness by being the sunshine to those around me, the opposite of my pre-adoptive angry self.  I tell stories of love.  I strive for positivity in all things.  I don’t accept negativity or loss.  I’m persistent but kind.” Excerpt from Grizz

He’s been having dreams for the last five years of a ghost called Jane. One week a year, but each year it becomes more and more intense. He is convinced if he can find out about the ghost, he can find the real person after Jane told him she’s a witch and she can astral project.  He is convinced he is in love with her he wants to make her his queen. But he can’t live with a ghost, he needs to find a living person.  But how in the hell can you find her when he doesn’t know who she is?

Her whole life she feels something is missing, she’s got a mental block, something in her past was terrible, so it’s been blocked, but she know something happened. And the scary thing…. she loses time! Sometimes it’s an hour, and sometimes it can last a whole day! Where she goes and what she does Elsy has no idea, but her vault at home holds all those secrets!!

I liked the first book in this series “Eagle” but I loved this one.  Elsy is two sided, although she thinks herself as a dark person and tries her hardest to be light, I see her as light.  Yes she has a secret, yes she tries to keep her family happy, but she has a hidden strength.  Does she find out who she really is? Will she find out why she loses time? You’ll need to read to find out.  Grizz is my favourite character, he knows his potential, he’s just scared to put it out there. Being adopted into the eagle clan, he gained a family, but with physical and mental abuse from the eagle king, it made him turn in on himself.  Loved the idea of falling for a ghost, and had a laugh out moment when they meet in the flesh!  Superbly written, told from both points of view, the author gets the angst and passion across really well.  Like the idea of knowing you’ve got only thirty days once your tattoo darkens you finding your Queen. The faded marks on the female is good, most supernaturals know what the mark stands for, but in Elsy’s case she thinks it’s just a birthmark.
Can’t wait to read the next book “Heavy”, and hoping note books are in the pipeline.
Highly recommend this book.

Friday’s Post

Caught up with one friend last night, don’t know where my friend from America got to! Hopefully I’ll catch up over the weekend.

Had a few walks as well, including a social distanced walk with a friend. We managed to walk a little further and did a little extra to out walk. Pretty pleased with the results.

Also caught up with work colleagues, we had a catch up and then a quick chat about everyday life.

Book Review…. EAGLE (Shifter Kings L.A.) By Holly Gunn 👩🏻‍💻

EAGLE (Shifter Kings L.A.) By Holly Gunn & T. Birmingham

He’s prideful, rich, and next in line to be king of the eagles.
She’s an eensy bit prejudiced, and a lot rock and roll.
What these two City of Angels’ supernaturals are about to discover is that there is so much more to a person than what meets the eye.

Eagle Fitzwilliam Ambustus is controlled, precise, and direct. He doesn’t have the time nor the emotional wherewithal to be anything other than who he is. Others think him cold and unfeeling, but that’s just the surface. Beneath his suits, he is so much more.

Elizabeth Argueta is a free spirit. She’s a rock and roll, go-with-my-flow drummer on a mission to live life to the beat of her own drum. And most importantly, she’s got a view of the world that sets her firmly apart from the rich and the clingy of the L.A. scene.

When these two meet, it might be sparks-at-first-sight, but they’ll have to get over their pride and their prejudice to not only overcome those trying to keep them apart but also to understand and come to love each other … just as they are.

Note: The first book in the Shifter Kings L.A. series is short, sassy, sexy, shift-tastic, and a whole lot of rock and roll … with a little Pride and Prejudice thrown in.

My Review….
“Now every thirty years, a new ruling cycle starts.
And every thirty years, before that ruling cycle starts, the marks of those set to be king go dark and they have thirty days to find the woman with a crown-shaped mark destined to be their queen.
Thirty kings. Thirty tribes. Thirty futures determined by a faded tattoo at birth that goes dark somewhere around our thirtieth year.”
That was such a refreshing read.
Eagle is rigid, everything in his world is ordered, nothing out of place.  Manages a band (I was surprised, thought him more of a tall office building millionaire) just waiting till it’s his turn to rule. He’s going to do things different.

“But Father is still king.  And it is not yet my turn to rule.  So, I bide my time … I submit.  And I train my eyes on the cold tiles of black and white as the first lash of leather and sharp metal strip through the flesh of my back.”  Excerpt from Eagle.

Iz, Izzy, (Elizabeth to other people not family) beats out a rhythm on whatever is to hand.  She’s a Dabbler witch, she suppresses it for most of the time.  A free spirt with a wicked sense of humour.
The hierarchy of L.A is fascinating especially the witches ….. The Queens are at the top, then their families, then the elements (air, water) Judges, charisma, siphons, scholars, and then the lowest Dabblers, they are the witches that can do it all, but not well.
I love Elizabeth, such a free spirit, nothing much gets her down. She comes from a loving family, has a close knit of friends, and gets to jam with friends, what’s not to love? Her look on life “the haves” these are people who are poor, but they are rich in love, family and (have a rich life) “the have-nots” these are the rich, they only have artificial friends and empty lives, and the “clingers” these are the people who cling to the rich!!
“I’m not willing to bend to anyone’s will. Fuck that.  I’m not poor. And last, I don’t care about being rich.  I have a place with my girls. I have food on the table.  I have a job I love.  I have it all.”  Excerpt from Eagle.
I took a while to warm up to Eagle, his past was littered with brutal beatings and vicious put downs. His father the king was literally a beast!! So I could see why he was so rigid. I was surprised he was friends with the band he manages (I thought he’d be too uptight for musicians) his wanting to bring his family and people up to date, but in a kinder way had me smiling. He’s totally opposite of his tyrant of a father/king.
They first meet in the street, she’s playing with friends (bongo drums) they see each other, both swear there is a connection, but neither go for it.
We also have the never ending debate on wether shifters should come out to the world. Eagle is a firm believer that they should stay hidden. I’m sure it’s going to be an ongoing debate.
It’s well written, flows at a steady pace. I love the formal way Eagle talks, the intense emotions that both pull from each other. Your hoping that Eagle gets his Queen
I have a inkling it’s a spin off from the previous series (Shifter Kings Nashville) I don’t think it’s going to matter if you haven’t read the previous series.
But I’m interested now, I might have to go back and read 😉
Short story but packed with lots going on.

Thursday’s Post

Lovely weather today. Had another great walk with a friend. Housework kept me busy and a little reading. Sat in the garden and watched lots of butterflies visit the roses and wildflowers we have in the garden.

Arc review….. Cry of the Wolves by Vonna Harper

Cry of the Wolves by Vonna Harper

Release date …. 23/7/20

Two lonely strangers, a single hot night. And wolf spirits.

Sarah Hazelton needs a fresh start far from memories of her failed marriage. Jake Schneider will do what it takes to earn a living in the Oregon wilderness while helping his brother recover from a nearly fatal accident. Neither Sarah or Jake are ready for a relationship that goes beyond a single night of hot sex—but they aren’t in charge. A force beyond their comprehension is.
Brought together by a mountain snowstorm and their smashed cars, two loners are fated to spend a night in each other’s arms. In the same bed. Once the remote cabin door closes behind them, need takes over. They will share their bodies, nothing else. But the nearby dark wolves have their own agenda. Denying the beasts’ presence is impossible. Understanding what they demand may mean the difference between life and death.
My Review……
A short intense story.
I did feel a little confused, they did, then they didn’t ……
The premise had a lot of potential, both characters were solid.  It did feel rushed, but because it was a novella that’s probably why.
Sarah was moving for a new job, she felt like a change was for the best, after a divorce, but didn’t really want to leave the town she’s grown to love.
Jake has had logging in his blood for a few generations now, but after an accident almost took his brother, he had railed again nature and all it stood for.
A storm brings them together, mystical wolf forms push them into admitting what they want.
Would they have met if not for the storm? Who knows, but if the feelings they both have after one night together, then maybe fate would have brought them together.
I liked the idea that Sarah could run the B&B they were forced to stay in. It has the potential for a series. Hope Jake’s brother gets a story.  And who knows, maybe one day this short story will get made into a longer one.
About the Author Vonna Harper has written dozens of erotica and erotic romance from spanking to shape-shifting, from primitive tribes to science fiction. Many of those books revolve around capture and or submissive themes. Freud, if he hadn’t been so hung up on his belief that only damaged people fantasize, might have tried to understand dom/submissive dynamics. Looks like he left that up to Vonna and other like-minded writers.

In this sensual, arresting book full of the themes of redemption and self-discovery, two lost souls find themselves at a crossroads where the heart is the only compass that can be trusted…but that may require a courage that neither of them possesses.

Wednesday’s Post

My first social distancing walk today. Made arrangements to catch up with my friend. We were out for about 20 minutes, but as it’s out first time walking with anyone near, neither of us wanted to push it. I must admit I was a little nervous. But it was nice catching up. The weather was really nice too, so it was a win-win in my eyes. Hoping to go out again tomorrow.

Book Review…. Desolation Road (The Torpedo Ink series) book 4 by Christine Feehan 📖

Desolation Road (The Torpedo Ink series) book 4 by Christine Feehan

Take the ride of your life with the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club in this thrilling romance novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Torpedo Ink is Aleksei ‘Absinthe’ Solokov’s whole life. They’re his brothers, his family and his everything. But that doesn’t stop him from wanting something that only belongs to him. That’s why the tough biker has spent the last six weeks at the library, reading every book he can get his hands on and watching the prim and proper librarian who makes his blood rush.

For the past six weeks, Scarlet Foley has been fantasizing about the handsome, tattooed man whose eyes follow her every move. She senses he’s dangerous. She wants him to get close enough to touch. She wishes she could let him know the real woman, not the one she pretends to be. But Scarlet has a plan to carry out, and she can’t afford any distractions.

Absinthe is well aware that Scarlet is hiding something. She’s a puzzle he intends to solve, piece by intoxicating piece . . .

Publication date 6/7/2020 *

Excerpt from Desolation Road

Aleksei Absinthe Solokov, loved books. He loved the smell of them. The sight of them. The information in them. He especially loved the places he could go in them. Books had saved his life on more than one occasion. He’d originally come to this place, needing the quiet and peace, needing the scent and the words. And once again, books had led him to find something so unexpected, so spectacular, he still hadn’t accepted the offering, the gift, not quite believing yet, but he couldn’t walk away.

He sat in his favorite place right in front of the tallest stacks. The table was smaller and less inviting, due to the crowded space. He didn’t like being disturbed. He came to the library to get respite from the continual bombardment of other people’s thoughts and emotions. He could command with his voice, and sometimes the temptation to tell everyone to not think or speak for five minutes was sometimes brutally hard to resist. He needed to feel normal when he wasn’t. He wanted to see if he could fit in somewhere, but he knew he couldn’t. He needed to stand on his own, but it was impossible.

His small table, nearly hidden there beside the taller stacks, not only protected him from unwanted company, but gave him a direct view to the desk where the librarian checked out books, recommended reads, and sometimes—make that often—helped teens with their homework. He had been coming for over a month. Six weeks to be exact. And he just watched her. Like a fucking stalker. The librarian. She was so damn sexy he was shocked that the place wasn’t overrun with single men—because she was single. He’d made it his business to find out.

My Review….

Absinthe has the ability to “hear and feel” lies, he can also suggest things to you, make you do things subconsciously. A human lie detector.

Scarlet is a librarian, loves the job, helps the kids with their school work, and lives a quiet life.  After being almost attacked by her college boyfriend and his buddies, Scarlet tries to get the law to punish them. But the boyfriends father is powerful, and Scarlet’s world is torn apart. And now she’s in hiding.  But she’s not some shrinking violet, oh no, she’s out for revenge. And one by one, all those who failed both Scarlet and her family will pay.

Absinthe is fascinated with the library, well he loves to learn, but he’s more fascinated with the librarian. For six weeks he’s been coming to this library, reading and watching her. His body reacts without directions (not a normal thing for this biker) he’s almost certain she’s meant to be his. But he knows she’s hiding something or from someone, he just has to figure it out.

Scarlet is well aware of the hunk sitting in the library, reading and watching her, she watches him constantly. She’s drawn to him, but knows she can’t approach him, he’s dangerous but she’s not sure why.

This one had me both chuckling and wringing my hands.   We get more background on Absinthe and a few members of Torpedo Ink. As you maybe new to this series (I would urge you to read from the start of the series) Torpedo Ink MC (motorcycle club) is a biker club with a difference. All the members are from a school for assassins. But not everyone made it out alive! And it wasn’t voluntary, and it certainly wasn’t meant for children!  Taken from his home as a small child, Aleksei and his brother were beaten, tortured and abused on a daily basis. Along with hundreds of other children. Forming a group/pack their leader Viktor “Czar” honed each child into a killer (he couldn’t shield them, so he had to help them somehow) and now eighteen survivors ride and survive together.  There is a spark almost instantaneously. But both are wary, both are hiding things. Both have a dark past.  Now each torpedo ink member has a kink! Someone that is unique to them, and I can’t give away Absinthe’s (you’ll have to read it to find out) but it has me spitting my coffee out, and almost choking!!  Sex scenes are plentiful and inventive, but so is the action.  Torpedo Ink are hunters, they go after sex traffickers, pedophile rings and anyone who thinks themselves outside the law. We get to watch as they plan their attacks, and have a ringside seat as the action unfolds.  There is also a new character added to the gang of bikers. Can he be trusted?

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It does state there could be triggers for people who’ve suffered or could suffer after reading.  But the subject is treated with respect.

I love this series and the author. The pages come alive with the descriptions. All the characters are well known, and any titbit is welcome.

Looking forward to the next book.

Tuesday’s Post

A busy morning with washing, housework and a walk. Reviews that needed polishing up and placing on my blog calendar (otherwise they’d all go in on the same day!)

A quick social distance chat with a friend at the door. Another afternoon walk and putting bedding back into the bed.

My day rounds off with another walk, dinner and a catch up with chats on a multitude of media (FaceTime and phone)

Weather behaved itself today, so felt a lot more productive today.

Book Review…. Jasper Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 5 by Emilia Hartley

Jasper Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 5 by Emilia Hartley

Cora has made a mess of everything. When she ran from the tyrant who claimed her like property, she’d hoped to start a new life, not a dragon war. Now, she’s exhausted in both body and spirit. Her grand plan has led to fires, battles and an unbelievably close mate bond with the scariest dragon she’s ever met. She doesn’t want to be sharing thoughts and dreams with Jasper Drake and the demon that lives inside him, but when has the universe ever cared what she wanted?

For months, Jasper’s dragon has teetered on the edge of control as he sought to find and protect his mate. When she moves into the guesthouse of his manor, the fear she feels towards him is an exquisite torture. He’s determined to win her trust, but his dragon is impatient, and her wounds are deep. Sometimes he despairs of ever being the kind of mate she needs—the kind of king his people need.

Aurum Court Dragons by Emilia Hartley

Book 1 Ashton Drake

Book 2 Wyatt Drake

Book 3 Ryker Drake

Book 4 Griffin Drake

Book 5 Jasper Drake

My Review……

Jasper is at the end of his rope, his family is dysfunctional, his family owned business was almost ruined, oh and his mate wants to hide from him!!!!

No wonder he drinks and wants to escape….

Cora knows she should be with Jasper, but King’s aren’t good people. She’s hiding from him and her clan, she won’t be a baby machine to produce heirs!!

Jasper maybe the King, but he has no idea how to run his court! Thank goodness for his cousin Griffin (although he thinks of his as a brother, after his father took him in)

His dragon is slowly taking over Jasper’s life, the dragon wants to escape Drake Mountain, it’s always circling, it’s always searching from something.

Until it shares the fact his mate is in the forest on his mountain, then Jasper is in sync, he needs his mate to keep his dragon from taking him over completely!

How can jasper convince Cora that they should be together? He can hardly contain his beast, it’s all going to go horribly wrong!!!

Jasper has been in all the previous books, he’s come across as really selfish, putting his cousin Griffin in danger on a daily basis.

But as the books continue you understand why his dragon is wants out.

Cora finally comes to Jasper’s home, but she’s not interested in mating, she just wants to be safe. But is she safe from Jasper? And how about her clan looking for her? Getting to know Jasper is a slow process, he wants her now (well his dragon does) but Cora won’t be rushed. Jasper needs to use all his strength and patience to convince Cora he wants her for her. But Cora is convinced that once Jasper knows her secret, all bets will be off. She won’t live in a cage!!

The rogue dragons that have squatted on Drake territory are causing more trouble in their town, causing mayhem with the King and his knights, and harming the mates is the last straw!!!!

It was nice to see all the previous couples in the series. It was fun watching Cora give Jasper the runaround. Reading how Jasper changed from selfish to King was good. When he realises his town is in danger he has to change his ways.

I liked the series. And I had waited to read Jasper’s story.

Definitely happy to recommend this book and series.

Monday’s Post

Start the day off with a walk. then chat with my BFF and then a catch up with my sister. Breakfast and then a review. I’m on a deadline today, a last minute book for a review.

I also managed to get in another two walks. The sun was out and it was really warm today. We were going to go out for a drive, but my husbands grandson came to ask him some advice on a car he was looking at. So maybe tomorrow.

Book Review…. Griffin Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 4 by Emilia Hartley 👩🏻‍💻

Griffin Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 4 by Emilia Hartley

Griffin Drake always gets left behind. While his cousins leave Grove to have adventures, he’s stuck babysitting his increasingly distant and crazy cousin, Jasper, the king of the mountain. When his cousins come home to help, they all find mates, one after another. Griffin is left alone, without even a way to meet a mate. He’s always been bad at talking to women.

Then he meets Lilah, who is down on her luck and easy to talk to. He offers her a job as his pretend girlfriend, so he won’t have to live through another family get-together as the only un-paired dragon.

Suddenly, he’s not behind at all. Lilah moves in, gets along with his family, and lights up his life. He was sure the universe had forgotten about a mate for him, but now he knows Lilah is the one. All he has to do is convince her it’s not all make-believe.

Aurum Court Dragons by Emilia Hartley

Book 1 Ashton Drake Book 2 Wyatt Drake Book 3 Ryker Drake Book 4 Griffin Drake Book 5 Jasper Drake

My Review…..

Griffin hated being left behind, he was left to look after his cousin, whilst everyone left Grove and got on with their lives, and now his cousins are back, he should be happy but he’s not….. Not only are they back, but they have all found their mates. It’s just not fair, no wonder he’s a grumpy recluse!!  He’s sick of looking after his cousin, he might be king of their mountain, but to Griffin he’s a pain in his butt!!

Lilah’s life feels like one large curse….. It’s a family curse that has dogged their families lives for generations.  And the promise she made to her dying mother feels like a millstone around her neck, her sister does nothing but take, take, take!!!  She’s just lost her job, she’s about to be evicted, and her sister just ran off with the last of her money….Will she ever catch a break?

So what does it take for Griffin’s family to stop looking at him like a charity case? A girlfriend would be a start……

Meeting Lilah was great, blowing his chances of a second date seems imminent, who would offer a girl money to date him? But Lilah is desperate, so she accepts.  What happens next is a roller coaster of a ride!

I really liked this one, I’ve wanted to find out about Griffin from book one. He was raised in the gold dragon household, Jasper and Griffin were raised as brothers after Griffin lost his mother. His father became unstable so it was agreed he’d move in. But reading this book you get more of an insight into their relationship. Griffin really does care for Jasper, but it’s getting wearing, always on call, always the one to put out the fires and wrestle the dragon. Night after night, and what’s more jasper’s dragon is getting clever, it anticipates moves and is almost evading capture. The fights are getting tougher.  You had to feel sorry for poor Lilah, nothing goes right for her, the family curse had definitely got a firm grip on her. Losing her job, getting behind on the rent, so now she’s getting evicted, and her lovely sister has run off with the last of her money (her sister has all these money making schemes that never work)  So when a stranger in a bar offers her money to be his girlfriend, Lilah is shocked, but part of her wants to take him up on his offer!

Moving in saves her from being evicted, but she had to remind herself that it’s not real. But boy does she want it to be real.

And when she’s attacked by a rival dragon, Griffin is worried that all bets will be off, because for him, it stopped being a charade, both the dragon and Griffin want Lilah for keeps!

And the ongoing war for Drake mountain is more than just land. Is it to do with Jasper’s mate?

Sunday’s Post

First time out in a car today!! Didn’t go far. Took some crafting supplies to my granddaughter. I was lovely to see her in person, but I stayed in the car as she came out to get the bag.

Complete weather change today. Started off with rain, cold and cloudy, ending up with a little sun. My dad was suppose to come down this morning. Alas that didn’t happen. So we are going to try again next Sunday.

Did a workouts indoors instead of my morning walk. But I managed to get out later in the day for a walk.

Book Review…. Ryker Drake Aurum Court Dragons) book 3 by Emilia Hartley 👩🏻‍💻

Ryker Drake Aurum Court Dragons) book 3 by Emilia Hartley

Mina has always known her place in the dragon hierarchy of Grove—at the bottom. Her king’s court is so far out of her league that she feels like she’s intruding even when she comes to work as a maid at Ryker Drake’s house. The attraction she feels for the rock-blasting, nipple-pierced sweetheart she works for is inappropriate on so many levels. But Mina can’t help herself.

Part of her wants to keep away from Ryker to protect herself from the inevitable heartbreak when he’s done with her. The rest of her wants to grab onto the happiness of being with him.

Even if it can’t last.

Can it?

Aurum Court Dragons by Emilia Hartley

Book 1 Ashton Drake

Book 2 Wyatt Drake

Book 3 Ryker Drake

Book 4 Griffin Drake

Book 5 Jasper Drake

My Review……

Ryker is home. Being a roadie for a band has been great, travelling, women and a sense of freedom, so why the hell is he back in Grove? Oh yeah his King/cousin likes to fly around trying to escape Drake mountain, so it’s all hands on deck to bring his cousin back in line.

Mina has always known about the Drake’s and their abilities. Being a lowly dragon herself, she’s aware he’s royalty and she’s not.

When she’s not a home looking after her uncle, she’s cleaning homes, one home she never expected to clean was a metallic home. But she’s here to a job, even though the owner looks hot!

Both dragons are drawn to each other, but trying to convince Mina to take a chance on him is proving difficult, but dragons are nothing if not tenacious.

Ryker isn’t aware of any problems on the town, he’s been gone a while, but spending time with Mina has opened his eyes, the chromatic dragons have their own classes, and Mina is lower than low!! Is jasper even aware? Ryker doesn’t think so, and so takes it upon himself to correct the mistake.

Mina knows It’s only a matter of time before someone discovers she’s spending time with royalty.

Then there is the problem with the King, he’s becoming more and more uncontrollable, his dragon won’t rest, it’s becoming tiring and tedious.

When Mina stumbles upon the reason for the dragon kings behaviour, Mina has to decide where her loyalties lie.

I liked this one, we have the unstable king. We find out why he’s become that way. We catch up with previous couples, and the last two hero’s of the series.  I felt sorry for Mina, being treated poorly by her uncle is bad enough, but to witness the rest of her clan treat her that way was terrible, Ryker finding out and putting a stop to it made me smile.

We’ve got a rival gang of dragons trying to move into Drake territory also to contend with.

If your going to pick up a Ryker, then I advise you to pick up the rest of the pack, it’s a fun ride.

Saturday’s Post

Caught up with work colleagues on a FB chat room last night. Getting the low down on what’s going on. Then general chat, it was fun catching up.

Caught up with washing as the weather was lovely. Spent time in the garden weeding my daughters corner of the garden.

A few nice walks today. But the afternoon was definitely a busier one!

Book Review …..Wyatt Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 2 by Emilia Hartley 👩🏻‍💻

Wyatt Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 2 by Emilia Hartley

Wyatt Drake has just broken up with his long-time girlfriend, a woman he’d expected to marry, and a relationship is the last thing he wants. But his dragon is sniffing around a tourist in his hometown—a tourist who discovers more about him in days than his girlfriend did in years—and who seems to like him despite all that, or maybe even because of it. Still, Wyatt isn’t sure he’s ready for another relationship. He doesn’t want a one-night-stand or a short-term rebound girl. He’s looking for commitment. And what kind of stability can he get from a travelling food-blogger he just met?

Aurum Court Dragons by Emilia Hartley

Book 1 Ashton Drake

Book 2 Wyatt Drake

Book 3 Ryker Drake

Book 4 Griffin Drake

Book 5 Jasper Drake

My Review……

Wyatt is back on Drake mountain, reeling from being dumped by his girlfriend, so the last thing he’s looking for is a replacement, but his dragon has other ideas. His dragon has a cute out of towner in its sights…..

Kennedy only wants to move from place to place, she doesn’t need roots, she’s living her life and loving her job, but meeting Wyatt and his crazy family have her in a spin. Maybe she just hasn’t found that one place to settle, could Grove and Drake mountain be the place she’s always been looking for or is it Wyatt she wants to call home?

Book 2 sees us catching up with Wyatt. He’s cousin to both Ashton and Jasper the king. He didn’t really want to come home, but being summoned back to court by both Ashton and Griffin (another cousin) he doesn’t have much of a choice, he’s also nursing a broken heart, being dumped by the woman he had hoped to marry as him sworn off women, so why does he feel the need to protect a woman in the diner? Sure she’s cute, but he’s not suppose to be interested, but his dragon half has other ideas……

Kennedy is a food blogger, travelling from town to town, relaying her trip and pictures to her online followers.  The moment she sets foot in Grove, she feels a connection, she’s honestly thinking about finding a place, at first it’s just a feeling, but as time goes by, she sees herself settling down…..  Being watched in the diner isn’t unusual for Kennedy, she takes pictures of sights and plates of awesome food. But the man watching her gives her the creeps, it’s not until another man steps in and rescues her.

Wyatt and Kennedy have an almost instant attraction to one another, but neither will admit it.  Wyatt has a secret, it’s not a family secret, the whole town knows, but outsiders are privy to it.

And when a face from the past resurfaces, what will it mean for Wyatt and Kennedy.

Friday’s post

Three walks a day, three different experiences. The morning one is usually the quietest. Don’t see many people, and those I see are usually in a better frame of mind (thoughtful of other people) I wear my mask whilst I’m out now. The afternoon walk has a few more obstacles. More mobility scooters are out, so I need to be aware, they seem to come out of nowhere and assume you’ll let them pass, and I do if it’s safe (I’m not stepping out into a busy road that’s for sure) And the evening one is a mixture of both previous walks (so it depends on where I walk) I also did my “walk at home” exercises, I find I’m more energetic doing that than just walking. The walks I tend to stroll, not much effort. So a combination of both is helping.

Had a great catch up with friends in a FB chat room, we had a chuckle and debate on how our governments have gone wrong! Deb living in America gives us the low down on how she’s coping. So it’s good to see another side.

Weather was nicer today, so I did a wash load and did housework to an audio book. Caught up with family throughout the day. And I’ve made plans to see my dad on Sunday (hoping the weather is kind) in the garden of course.

Book Review …. Ashton Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 1 by Emilia Hartley 👩🏻‍💻

Ashton Drake (Aurum Court Dragons) book 1 by Emilia Hartley

Ashton knows he’s in no shape to help anyone. His sanity is hanging by a thread; he’s failing at the job the Drakes sent him to the city to do; and many days he can’t even handle his own dragon.

The only time the beast settles is when it sees Makenna, Ashton’s high school sweetheart.

The trouble is, Makenna doesn’t seem to want Ashton around. She can’t forget that Ashton left her, and besides she doesn’t have time for an out-of-control Drake, even if she could ever trust him again.

Ashton knows what he needs to keep his sanity – he just doesn’t know if he can win Makenna back…

Aurum Court Dragons:

Book 1 Ashton Drake

Book 2 Wyatt Drake

Book 3 Ryker Drake

Book 4 Griffin Drake

Book 5 Jasper Drake

My Review……

Ashton is part of the Drake family, they live under the rule of the Gold dragon.

He’s back after trying to save the bank that keeps them safe on the mountain. He’s also here to keep his cousin from showing the world that dragons exist!

Makenna was going to be a singer, a success, but she never made it that far….. Being called back home by her ill relative, Makenna put aside her dreams and worked, she’s trying to pay off the hospital bills and other bills that slowly mounted up!! There are not enough hours in the day to earn money, so the last thing she needs is an old flame coming back into her life!! She needs money, not fun!!

Ashton knows he should leave her alone, she’s told him enough times, but she soothes his dragon, he’s not crawling out of his skin when she’s near. But how does he get her to slow down? How does he try to help? Yes he can throw money at it, but Makenna is an independent woman, she won’t take his help.

But when a fire almost takes her away from him, Ashton is going to do everything in his power to help her.  Being with Ashton is easy, loving him is natural, and when a fire makes her re-evaluate her life, she decides to let him in.  She knows all about his dragon, so he doesn’t have to hide that from her, she knows all about the generation after generation of dragons who look after the mountain and the people that live on it. So what’s holding her back from committing to Ashton?

I liked this book, I liked the fact Ashton wasn’t prepared to like going back home, it’s not until further on on the book you realise why he’s happy to go home.  I loved Makenna, a hardworking young woman, she didn’t take the easy way out when her aunt died, she faced her responsibilities and paid off the bills that accrued during her aunt’s illness.  I like how she wasn’t going to fall for her “old flame”, just because he was back. She really made sure he was back to stay before she let him back into her life.

(There is a backstory, it’s concerning his cousin the King, Jasper will star heavily in all the books until his is told in the last one.)

So do you need to read in order? Yes, all the characters are in all the books, so it makes sense to read them the way they are set out.

I must admit I’ve read quite a few books from this author recently, I’ve enjoyed her work, so when I got the opportunity to read this series I jumped at the chance.

Thursday’s Post

Walking to the park this evening, we must have encountered every mobile scooter, runner and mum with buggy, all going the opposite direction from us! Took bread to feed the ducks, a few seagulls decided to dive and take the bread from the ducks.

Arc Review …. Forbidden Desire (Planet of Desire) book 4. by Robin Lovett 👩🏻‍💻

Forbidden Desire by Robin Lovett

Being a sex goddess should be my dream come true—as much sex as I want, with magic powers to heal people, too. Until I realize the enormously strong human I desire most is completely off-limits. My people will put me in prison if I’m caught with a human.

But one encounter together leaves me panting for more. So I kidnap him and take him to an alien sex retreat. I soon discover not only is my big strong human a virgin, his bio-engineering might have made him the largest person I’ve ever seen, but also it made him unable to feel any sensation on his skin.

We’ve got three days to try to heal him with my sex powers before I risk someone discovering us. Then I find out his biggest secret…

Publication date 13 July 2020

My Review……

Ok, the title sounds ok, forgive the cheesy description, it’s actually really good.

Graven is or was human, years ago he was experimented on. He maybe bigger and stronger than most humans, but he has no sensation in his body. He can’t feel pleasure or pain, he can’t feel the clothes on his back or the caress of a hand!
And because he was experimented on at an early age, he never got to experience love or lust. In fact his biggest regret is never getting laid!!
He watches Niva daily, watches how she lovingly gives herself to both male and females. He’s in awe of her, he thinks of her as a goddess.

Niva is what we’d probably call a sex therapist, but she uses her body instead of words.
Group sex and public sex are the norm on her home planet Fellamana. In fact monogamy isn’t the done thing, it’s not exactly frowned on, but why stick to one person when you can have as navy as you like.
The planet produces an amorous gas that when absorbed into your body, you lose your inhibitions. So an antidote is needed to counteract the planets atmosphere.

Being forbidden to interact with the humans visiting her planet (you can blame her cousin Koviye, for that ban) “Stolen Desire” Niva can only mourn the loss at getting to know the gentle giant who watches her from afar.
But fate takes a hand and gives her an opportunity to be with this gentle giant.

I have to admit, it’s pretty good. There is a fair amount of foreplay/sex
But the interaction between Niva and Graven was so sweet. He’s totally besotted with her, is it because he’s a virgin? Maybe, but the more they find out about each other, the more they connect.

But it can only be for three days, after that Niva can never see Graven again. As it is, if they are found together then it could be a prison sentence or death!

So what happens after three days? Will they be able to part?

It’s a fun read, it’s a quick read. And I don’t think you’ll need to read previous books.

Wednesday’s Post

What a dark and miserable day. With the threat of rain all day, it made it hard to get out, but I did it. Also did my workout via YouTube. Caught up with the politicians and their shenanigans! Managed to finish off a few reviews (they were sent off) and made notes in the book I’m reading at the moment.

Watching the dustcart this morning I watched it inch its way past my house (don’t you love drivers that park anywhere they like?!)

The kids that are on their way home from school.

Life is going on, but not as fast as we would like. Forcing yourself out of your bubble is an everyday battle.

So take it one step at a time. But keep going, I know it’s hard, I’m in the same frame of mind, I can’t face going back to work, I’m always worried that I’ll get it from family and friends. I’m constantly vigilant on my walks, I don’t listen to music, I watch everyone that approach me and walk past me.

Tuesday’s Post

Why, when you decide to do something with someone, it always ends in disaster?! So my friend and I had decided yesterday afternoon to start walking together in the morning, as I said yesterday, I need to up my fitness before going back to work. But by the evening we had to change our plans! Why? Weather, now I don’t mind a little drizzle, but we need to be careful that we don’t catch colds at the moment, especially with my chest!

So anyway….. instead of going for a walk, we did a group chat walk!! I’d recommend giving her a go

For the rest of the day I got housework done. A couple of reviews and two more walks in. Caught up with family and friends via social media. And made a few healthy choices (going to cut out pasta and potatoes for a while) 😱

Monday’s Post

A new week, and a new start 😉 well that’s how it’s suppose to go, let’s see how the rest of the week goes! Walking more✔️ drinking more water ✔️ trying to eat less and healthier (almost) housework was done to music. A different yoga video (longer and a little more effort was required) got a few reviews posted on the sites I usually do. And trudged through a few books that took a little effort (historical romance, not really my thing)

I’m aiming to walk longer and further tomorrow, I’d like to be visiting family and friends by the end of this month.

So keeping my fingers crossed. It’s time to shake it up a little.

Arc Review ….. Skinned (The Rayburn Mysteries) Book 2 by CeeRee Fields 👩🏻‍💻

Skinned (The Rayburn Mysteries) Book 2 by CeeRee Fields

Josephine ‘Jo’ Rayburn’s life was finally falling into place. She has a man she loves one who accepts her prickly personality, snarky attitude, addiction to knitting along with all her other quirks. Everything was going so well she is ready to take the next step in their life together.

Then bodies start dropping, and her past catches up with her.

Rhysian Rhys Harrison loves Josephine. Her porcupine-like defenses shield a warm a gooey center that only he’s allowed to see. That she accepts and cares for his mentally challenged brother as well is the icing on the chocolate cake. He’s ready to ask her to marry him.

But when his ex-fiancée crashes back into his life, the picture-perfect future he sees with Josephine begins to unravel.

Amidst bitter betrayal, misunderstandings, crazy family, and dodging hitmen can Josephine and Rhysian find a way to forge their path to the future they crave? Or will this case be the one that tears them apart for good?

The Rayburn Mysteries…..

Book 1 Gravedigger  Book 2 Skinned

Publication date 1 july 2020

My Review…….

That was really good……

Second book in the series. Same characters as in the first book.

Does it make a difference if you don’t read the first one?

I loved Josephine “jo” all her little quirks, the partnership she has with Sullivan (her work partner) is close, their banter made me chuckle. The closeness she has with Rhysian was lovely, they just fit, they complement each other perfectly. Her wildness needed his calm to keep her grounded.  Her tolerance for her more “prettier” half sisters, she never resented them, she just accepted them. Her put downs were hilarious, fast coming and usually relentless, most people never got a word in or a quick enough comeback. She’s protective of the ones she loves, she’ll defend them and will always have their back.  She has no filter whatsoever, the amount of times I laughed out loud.

Rhysian was pretty unflappable, living and loving Jo gave him peace he never thought he’d have. He loves that she’s so careful with his brother Rian, it only makes him love her more, and now she’s said yes to marrying him, he’s hopeful that a live in carer he’s hired will help him look after his brother, and get Rhys back to finish off his training to be a paediatric doctor, all is right in his world. Well it was…..

We have a killer that is skinning it’s victims, could it be linked to a previous case? Things are all pointing that way, but Jo isn’t convinced, she’s certain it’s someone else, but who? It’s bringing back terrible memories of a past case, and her own past, could it be the same person?

A murder mystery book, but more!! It’s the first time I’ve read a book like this, and not been able to put it down.

This would make a great film, in fact I could see is being made into a series.

The characters all come to life, they gel, the words flowed, no jumping around. I really liked it. I almost spat my coffee out when I read where Jo’s mother wanted Rhys’s input on tantric sex!!! I laughed till I had tears. Too funny.  And the scene where he almost proposes to her, she’s covered in blood and vomit, but the conversation has so funny.

I must admit, I didn’t think Rhys ex-fiancé was needed in the book. But the further I got into the book, the more I realised he had needed to see her and to put her in the past where she belonged. Was there any chemistry between Sharon and Rhys ? Absolutely none, and that made me smile, she had her chance and she blew it big time.

So, do you need to read the first book? I don’t think so, but I feel I’m missing something, so I may just have to go back and read the first book.

Sunday’s Post

Lovely sunny day today. Sat in the garden and read. Until the screaming from over the fence drove me back indoors (kids and water!) Managed 3 pretty good walks today. Had a nice walk around the local park early evening, not many people were there then, it was lovely. Phone calls with family and friends. A little housework and made a couple of lasagnas for the freezer.

An Arc Review …. A British Heiress in America by Becky Lower.

A British Heiress in America by Becky Lower

Lady Philippa Worthington wants to marry young and sexy.
Her father plans for her to marry stodgy…old…and rich.
What’s a beautiful British heiress to do if she’s going to escape a life of passionless marriage? With her father planning to sell her off to the highest bidder in order to support his own lavish lifestyle, Pippa knows there’s only one thing she can do to save herself.
Lady Philippa dons boys’ clothing and stows away on a London ship destined for the American colonies and a new life. One full of hope, freedom, and the chance to finally live up to her feisty nickname among the rough sailors—‘Pip.’
But instead of finding independence on the high seas, Pippa is plunged deep into the dangerous world of espionage–and the arms of handsome Daniel Simmons, a merchant sailor for the British—who is also an American Revolutionary spy!
Torn between allegiance to her home country and the passion she’s always been searching for, Pippa now faces an unexpected threat—and it may cost Pippa and Daniel the very freedom—and love—they’ve both been searching for.
If they manage to survive the very heart of the beginnings of the Revolutionary War, can the daring spy find love in the arms of A BRITISH HEIRESS IN AMERICA?
My Review…….
A sea captain who may or may not be a spy. A runaway debutant who won’t be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Not my usual read, but once opened it was a pleasant surprise.
Philippa “pip” Worthington isn’t sure if being a stowaway on a ship bound for America is the best idea she’s ever had, but she’s not going to become some bored London housewife. She longs for love and adventure….
Daniel is the captain of the boat Pip has stowed away on, only he’s unaware that Pip is actually Philippa!!
He’s aware the “boy” is running away from something in London, but that’s not Dan’s issue, but the boy could be useful, if he gets a job in the army, then Daniel could use him as a spy! But he has to be careful, his daughter could become a casualty of war (he’s a widower, his daughter lives with her mothers parents)
I did have to chuckle, Pip is not your usual debutant, she’s quite a character (smoking cheroots and drinking pints of ale!) she is very independent, she’s off for an adventure in America, she’ll marry an officer in the British Army and be happy!
But working as a cabin boy is proving challenging, it doesn’t help that the captain is very easy in the eye, she has to remain in character at all times!
Daniel is a double agent! To the outside world he takes arms to the British army, he also spies for the American government! If he’s caught it could mean death!
It’s a fun read. Well written and very descriptive. Had to laugh when poor Pip was feeling seasick. And when she wished she could have a cheroot!
The banter between Daniel and Pip is lighthearted, Daniel feels he should take the boy under his wing, but with the option of using the boy to his advantage, I found I grew to dislike Daniel!
Chuckling at the inappropriate thoughts the captain has about his cabin boy, he’s off to get laid once he’s back on dry land, but his thoughts keep straying to his “boy”.
And when Daniel discovers his cabin boy is in fact a woman ……
Daniel now changes strategy and decides a debutante would be a better spy! But does he take what Pip is offering?
And Philippa is now facing a dilemma herself, she knows that Daniel runs guns for the British, does she inform the American society she will belong to? Or can she be of some assistance in the fight for their freedom?

Saturday’s Post

A sunny today. Managed to get three walks in, varying in time and distance. I even mowed the back lawn, well I did a little, it stated my coughing off, so hubby finished off and I weeded the flower beds after he was done! The nice about the sun, it creates a warm spot in the bedroom, and I lazed upstairs like a cat 😉 listening to music and then an audio book, but listening to audio has a nap effect, one minute I’m awake, the next I’m being woken up by a phone call! Catching up with my nieces on a video call made me smile.

Friday’s Post

Yeah, we had a little sun, but if you blinked then you would have missed it!! last night I caught up with my Book Buddy from America, and my best friend. We had a laugh on a Facebook chat room. And tonight I caught up with friends from work. We chatted about work, then caught up with each other. It’s nice, but I’d still rather face to face.

Audible 📱🎧

How Does Audible Work?

Audible works by first starting a 30-day free trial which comes with a free audiobook. Each month, a credit is awarded to the Audible account which can be used to purchase one audiobook. As a monthly member, you will receive one credit each pay period. That credit is redeemable for a single book of any value.

When your free trial is over, the free trial will automatically adjust to a monthly fee unless you cancel the account. Take note that one of the biggest complaints about the trial is that the company does not ask if you want to continue, but they automatically charge us if we don’t cancel the account.

Audible provides users with ad-free, high-quality audio files that you can listen to online or offline. That means you can delve into your favourite titles, listening without racking up data charges or going through the hassle of finding a Wi-Fi password. What’s more, it enables you to curate your own digital archive of audiobooks that can be accessed for listening to audiobooks at any time.

All Amazon Audible books are exchangeable. If you don’t enjoy a title, you may switch it for an alternative title with no hassle. Also, Audible offers members an exclusive 30 percent savings per credit on additional monthly purchases on fiction and non-fiction books, including mysteries & thrillers, personal development, business, bios & memoirs, sci-fi & fantasy, romance audiobooks and Audible originals.

What Is Audible?

Amazon Audible is a monthly membership service that provides users with access to a massive database of audiobooks. You access and play these audiobooks through the Audible app. They provides members with Audible credits a month to purchase new titles.

Over time, users are able to accumulate large libraries of audio books. Unlike similar audiobook subscriptions, all audiobooks purchased through Audible are yours to keep forever. If you’re not already reading or listening to audiobooks, you’re missing out on a lot of knowledge. We all know that reading is good for us and audio is a good way to listen to Audible books

A basic Audible membership fee and offerings is on par with most monthly subscription services. For the standard Gold monthly, you only get one credit for the monthly subscription fee with this membership plan. You can redeem one audiobook per credit. Since Audible credits are redeemable for a single audiobook of any price, it is smart to use this credit for costlier titles. After which, you can scour Audible for daily deals and low-cost classics. In addition, you also get 2 Audible originals.

You can find offers on Audible, the same way you can find offers on physical books. On occasion, you will find audiobooks priced as low as 99p. It’s important to note that the price you pay varies depending on the number of titles you purchase and how much you spend. That makes Audible worth the price. I find that it helps to treat your membership credit as if it’s worth one audiobook.

This way, you spend it on something equal to or greater than the monthly fee. But that’s just how I would do it. Unused Audible credits can be rolled over from one month to another. Whether you are waiting on an upcoming new release from major publishing houses or cannot decide between two titles, this feature ensures you never pay in vain. If you feel like you need more than 1 book a month, there are other membership plans available.

Is Audible Free With Amazon Prime?

If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can use Audible for no extra cost. The limit here is that you will only get access to a rotating collection of 50+ books. Notably, you get access to the channels as well.

This is a really good deal if you are already on Amazon Prime or if you’re thinking of using it.

The Library

The Audible library features over 425,000 titles and audio versions of books. Given it is an offshoot of Amazon, we only expect that number to grow. Audible tops the ranks as one of the densest audiobook libraries on the market.

The library consists of 26 book categories with new releases and audiobook titles spread evenly throughout. You can browse by category, lists & collections, or featured material. This includes a selection of titles that are compatible with the Amazon-exclusive service Whispersync. Almost every book that has an audiobook version is in the library including best sellers and many Audible originals.

Members also gain access to an extensive collection of audio shows. These are free with a monthly membership. They include genre-diverse Audible originals, such as Audicted, Sincerely X, and Real Crime.

The Audible membership also includes audio version of news via and additional publications for your listening pleasure. What’s more, there is a steady stream of celebrity performances and live comedy to keep you entertained. While the non-audiobook content could serve to be expanded, it’s an excellent bonus feature you don’t see.

What Is Whispersync And How Does It Work?

Whispersync for Voice is a unique service offered to Audible customers. It allows members to switch between listening to an audiobook and reading on a Kindle without missing a beat. The app also features real-time highlighting to boost reader engagement, comprehension, and retention. In short, you can sync your audiobooks with a Kindle to pick up where you left off on a book. You will need an internet connection for this. To utilize the service, you need to purchase the audio companion to a Kindle book. While it is on the pricier side, there is no denying the convenience of this service. Currently, Amazon does not have a bundle for an ebook + audio book on Kindle and Audible. That makes it a bit more expensive to get both and may not be for everyone.

What About The Alternatives?

Audible isn’t the only audiobook subscription service on the market. However, it stands out because of its extensive library. While public libraries typically provide services such as Hoopla or Overdrive for free, you get far fewer options to choose from. What’s more, you are often restricted to a small number of monthly audiobook rentals. The same thing goes for popular pay-to-borrow services.

Audible provides a wide variety of audio books and purchases are yours to keep even if you cancel. The best alternative to Audible is The book library is not as extensive as Audible but it’s still huge and most popular audio books are there. They have a 30-day free trial at the time of writing this Audible review, but they will need your email address and credit card details.

Building A Collection

Every audiobook you purchase through the Audible app is yours to keep forever. In fact, it can even be downloaded in any audio format or stored on a limited number of devices. Plus, you can access your Audible library at any time, even if you cancel your membership. While it takes a long time to build a personal library on Audible credits alone, this is definitely a versatile and space-saving alternative to a physical home library.

It is important to note; you cannot buy additional credits. Instead, you get a 30 percent discount on any additional purchases. As such, I feel this service is best suited for individuals who listen to one to two books per month. Otherwise, it can be quite costly. That being said, it’s a good idea to get one or two audiobooks per month and if you’re a big reader, just read the physical book too.

This Audible review will show you some of the most likely usabilities. Like most Amazon products, the Audible app offers user-friendly navigation. You can toggle between pages and menus for quick and easy access to thousands of book titles. Audiobook sub-categories such as “Pre-orders”, “Wish Lists”, and “Browse” (which includes several subheadings) make it easy to find new titles with rave reviews. Not to mention, all audiobooks are also subject to Amazon’s five-star customer review system.

Aesthetically, Audible couldn’t get much better. It features easy-to-read text, high contrast visuals, and customizable toggles. With that being said, the affiliated website is a bit sparse, with just a white background, gallery-style book cover grids, and six overhead menus.

Still, each audiobook has a detailed product page with information such as author, length, release date, and publisher. Here, you can confirm whether a title is compatible with Whisper sync and add it to your wish list. There is also a one-click purchase option.

The site others a standard search bar that allows you to explore audiobook options through both vague and detailed credentials. It also offers an advanced search option that is similar to digital library catalogs, with fine-tuned credentials such as the title, author, narrator, and publisher. From there, you can narrow the search field by honing in on the program type, language, length, format, and more.

Using Audible On Multiple Devices

The files can be downloaded to a variety of listening devices and even your MP3 player. To do so, you must install the Audible Manager on the device. Then, you have to physically plug the device into your computer and go through a twelve step process. After this, your content will be available on the device. Twelve steps mays seem like a lot but it is a quick and simple process.

Can You Share Audible Books?

You can also share your audiobooks with loved ones but they have to be adult members of your Amazon Household, as long as they have an Amazon account. It is important to note that this won’t work with a child’s account.

Previously, Audible’s Digital Rights Management system only allowed consumers to play and listen to Audible on three devices. This gave way to the upswing of programs designed to eliminate Audible’s DRM. Nevertheless, there is no longer an apparent limit. What’s more, consumers claim the MP3 files can be downloaded without hassle.

Beyond that, one of the reasons I love Audible is because of the ability to personalize your Audible app settings. Two of the more convenient features were the options to set an automatic sleep timer and adjust the audio playback speed to increase listening speed. Better still, Audible tracks where you leave off. Therefore, you never have to worry about losing your place when stopping or switching between devices.

How To Cancel Audible Membership?

This is an Amazon-based digital service. As such, they offer 24/7 phone, email, and live chat support. The cancellation process is straight forward. I found that, regardless of the platform, the customer service agents responded quickly and aimed to please. I also found the “Popular Questions” page to be extremely informative. Whether you’re looking to cancel your membership or exchange an unwanted audiobook, Amazon aims to provide you with quick and pleasing answers to all of your questions.

How To Return An Audible Book?

The best part, Audible’s hassle-free return policy is good. They have a great listen guarantee, which means you can literally exchange an unwanted audiobook or Audible originals at any time. Just go to “Account Details”, select “Purchase History”, locate the order you wish to return, and hit the orange “Return this Title” button.

However, experiences may differ from one person to another. I’ve read some bad reviews about their support. My experience overall has been good. The most notable complaints were that support was a bit slow, and they get charged even after calling and cancelling the Audible subscription.

Book Descriptions

Let’s face it, regardless of the audiobook service; we are buying the same product. Therefore, a considerable part of our buying decision is determined by user experience. In the case of Audible, the particular product is a subtle but important detail.

When you click on a title, a page pops up with a large book cover image and list of quick facts about the publication. Here, you’ll find a “Sample” button that allows you to listen to a small tidbit of the audiobook to determine whether its right for you. As someone who can be somewhat picky about which narrators I listen to, I found this option to be extremely valuable, making me love Audible even more.

On the right side, you can opt to use your membership credit on the title, buy additional credits outright, add it to a reading list, or post it on Facebook. Below this, you’ll find the “People who bought this also bought…” section. For me, this section was a treasure trove of valuable information. It generates useful recommendations based on the recent purchases of like-minded consumers. Of course, it is one of those sales tactics that Amazon uses but works and it’s possibly the best way to give a recommendation.

Next, there is a brief publisher’s summary which gives you the gist of the audiobook in two to four paragraphs. Following this, some audiobooks feature a small section for “Critic Reviews”.

On occasion, Amazon will post special offers for members. Sometimes, you can even purchase additional credits at a discounted price. To be considered for this deal, you need to have had the same Audible membership plans for two consecutive months, have one or no credits, and (if you are on the yearly plan) be at least 30 days from your next billing date. On top of that, Amazon offers inexpensive classics (sometimes as low as 99p but not very often)

At the bottom of a book page, there is a section called “What Members Say”. This breaks down the average ratings into three categories: “Overall”, “Performance,” and “Story”. Below each of these categories is a small bar graph that shows the number of people that gave five, four, three, two, or one-star reviews.

After this, there is you can switch between lists of Audible and Amazon reviews, sorting between “Most Helpful” and “Most Recent”. It appears as though the longest reviews are to be found at the top.

As someone who is very picky about the books I listen to, I found this feature to be extremely helpful. However, it is important to note that these reviews have the potential to be biased and misleading, but are unlikely to be so because they do verify buyers Amazon account.

Audible Audio Book Pros And Cons

There are some notable pros and cons that you should be aware of. Especially the cons. Is Audible worth your time? Overall, my experience on Audible and reviews are mostly good. There are some complaints that we will address below. Most of the pros are already in the review, so that section will be short, while the cons will be a bit longer.

Audible is convenient when you want to read but you’re busy. I don’t like to think of audio as a replacement for physical books and vice versa. However, as a working woman and blogger here, I barely have enough time in the day as it is. For me, audiobooks allow me to indulge in entertaining or informative literature even if I can’t set my eyes on it. I can progress through a novel while walking, sat on the train, bus or plane, (nothing worse when you have someone looking over your shoulder)

Easy access to my library from any device. As a public library enthusiasts, I was initially leery of paying for the subscription service. After all, why pay for audiobooks when I can borrow them for free? It turns out that the ability to access my audiobook library from multiple devices and flawlessly pick up where I last left off is well worth it. To top that, I don’t have to wait for new releases or popular titles to cycle through long waiting lists. Instead, I get instant access to these titles with a click of a button. What’s more, I never have to worry about incurring library fines or returning material.

Credits may be a hassle. Each membership plan allows for a different number of additional credits per month to be rolled over from one pay period to another. For example, the Gold annual membership allows for a maximum of five to roll over, whereas the Platinum Annual allows for 12. More importantly, you lose your credits if you cancel your membership.

Besides that, some audiobook prices can be quite high even after applying the 30 percent discount. For example, Stephen King’s The Outsider sells for way cheaper on Google play store. Not all books are cheaper on Google Play but this particular one is.

After the free trial is over, they charge automatically. There are many complaints about this with people saying “the trial is not actually a free trial” and so on. The best thing to do if you plan on taking the trial is to make sure that before 30 days, make a decision and either cancel the Audible account or continue letting it be.

Audible/Amazon has a reputation of overcharging customers. Although getting a refund is easy enough, it’s still a hassle and something that we shouldn’t even be dealing with. The common ones are the bill for a free trial and double charging when you subscribe or upgrade. It doesn’t happen all the time but those are the most common complaints.

What I Think Of The Pros And Cons?

In the end, I am not someone who is likely to spend too much on something such as an Audiobook. For one, I am not likely to listen to it more than one time. Secondly, I don’t feel that the audio files are adequate replacements for physical paper books nor e-books. For me, there is something sacred about reading text.

There is no doubt that it is convenient to listen to audiobooks. I found myself indulging in Christine Feehan’s award-winning book, Dark Legacy while I cleaned my bathroom. At 15 hours and 31 minutes, it lasted me nearly an entire month.

While Feehan’s book was available on CD at my local library, I had trouble justifying paying for it. Nevertheless, I was able to take it with me on my daily walk, to the work, and even for lunch without a hassle. I also was able to download it to my phone so that I didn’t have to rely on internet or data.

Readings Offline

One of the best features of Audible is that you can download and you listen to audiobooks online and offline. While this may not seem like a big deal, not having to worry about finding Wi-Fi or using data is imperative to many people (myself included). What’s more, you’re allowed to download all or part of an audiobook. Therefore, you can opt to save device space or personal time by only downloaded a select portion at a time. Whichever option you choose, all Audible audiobook purchases will remain in the cloud indefinitely.

Listener Stats

While not for everyone, the Audible app tracks listener stats and awards subsequent badges. As you listen, it unlocks badges, they have the option to post their progress on social media. If you have a shared account with a household member, each member can independently track their personal progress, stats, and badges. Some featured badges include “Mount Everest”, “Marathoner”, and “Daily Dipper”. The tracker helped me to set personal goals and adequately log my summer reading. It is also a cool way to compete with a friend or a family member.

Bookmarks And Notes

One of my favorite Audible features is “Clips”. “Clips” allows users to mark their progress with a digital bookmark, add notes, and more. It even allows you to save and share an audiobook passage. This will enable you to clip, edit, and post these audio tidbits via email or social media. It also saves the location of the audio so that you can return to it at any time.

If you’re someone who enjoys quoting passages or writing in the margins, this is the digital manifestation of an age-old practice. Plus, don’t worry if you’re sharing your audiobooks. All members get their own annotations, notes, and bookmarks.

Audible Review: Is Audible Worth It?

Is Audible worth the money? In my opinion, the short answer is yes.. Anyone who wants to listen to audio books should at least take Audible’s 30-day free trial. It doesn’t matter if you listen during your morning commute or while exercising, it’s a great app to get informed and read more books you’ve been meaning to read.

In short, I would recommend Audible to listeners looking to expand their audiobook libraries. For one, this service is relatively inexpensive. More so, it features the most expansive audiobook library currently on the market. Furthermore, Audible is easy to navigate and features user-friendly settings. Beyond that, Whispersync audiobooks offer a flexible alternative for individuals who enjoy reading but struggle to find the time to do it.

If you’re still not sure if this Audible is right for you or if you’re still asking how does Audible work, you can take the free trial to see for yourself. Not only do you receive free audiobooks of your choosing, but you get the opportunity to gauge how often you would utilize the service. The free audiobooks will be yours to keep and that alone makes Audible worth trying. This Audible review should have covered everything you need to know. Be sure to download audible and play around with the settings to ensure you get the best possible user experience. To me, that makes Audible worth the price.

Last week, I was talking to someone about books (About Pride and Prejudice, specifically.) This blogger loved Pride and Prejudice. She’s been putting it off for years. But before she set out on a long road trip, she chose the Audible edition narrated by Rosamund Pike as her driving companion.

I love Pride and Prejudice, and I’ve read it at least half a dozen times. But I’ve never heard Rosamund Pike’s complete version. This reader’s raves about her fantastic narration—and especially, her perfect accents for Mrs. Bennet and Mr. Collins—had me firing up my kindle to order that version for myself immediately. I have piles of Audible credits saved up; I was ready to use one.

But I didn’t have to.

I discovered that that audiobook—along with more than 40 other titles—is available to stream for Amazon Prime members through Audible’s new Audible Channels feature. For FREE.

Audible Review

Audible offers great customer service compared to all the audio book sites reviewed. Audible is one of the best options for anyone who listens to one audiobook or more per month and want to have a huge library to choose from. There are also daily deals on audio books to review.

Hope you enjoyed this Audible review and if you or someone you know have tried the Audible app recently or have an opinion on the post, tell us about that experience in the comments below!

Thursday’s Post

I managed a walk today before the rain came, so for the rest of the day I did a little housework and caught up on reading and the never ending reviews. Next week is suppose to be better weather wise. Let’s hope so.

Wednesday’s Post

The first week of July!!! Time seems to flyby one minute, then drag the next! Bringing me closer back to work . Weather kept me from doing too much today, but I did mange a few short walks today.

Our government is trying to get us all up and out, but offering vouchers for a meal out?! Don’t think it one of their better ideas.

Reviews are coming along nicely, making a few notes, and looking at tweaking my blog reviews.

Tuesday’s Post

Managed housework in between a few walks today. Weather cooperated (but only just) catching up with family and friends online, it’s getting tedious, not talking to the people, but the situation we are in. Catching up with family and friends with a social picnic is ok, going to the pub with them is ok, but going indoors? Still a no no!! Crazy

Amazon brought my new book to me today. I read with a friend from the USA, so I’m waiting until she gets hers.

Gotten busy with quite a few reviews, so I need to make sure I’ve written them all down. Trying a few different things at the moment. So you’ll have to let me know what you think🤔

Arc Review… Not like the Movies by Kerry Winfrey 📱

Not like the Movies by Kerry Winfrey

In a sequel from the POV of Annie’s best friend Chloe, a story about finding love in the most obvious-yet-not-so-obvious place. Chloe Sanderson is an optimist, and not because her life is easy. She is the sole caregiver for her father, who has early-onset Alzheimer’s, and pretty much responsible for everything. She has no time—or interest—in getting swept up in some dazzling romance. Not like her best friend, Annie, who literally wrote a rom-com that’s about to premiere in theaters across America . . . and happens to be inspired by Chloe and her cute but no-nonsense boss, Nick Velez.

As the buzz for the movie grows, Chloe reads one too many listicles about why Nick is the perfect man, and now she can’t see him as anything but Reason #4: The scruffy-bearded hunk who’s always there when you need him. But unlike the romance Annie has written for them, Chloe isn’t so sure her own story will end in a happily-ever-after.

My Review …..

Told in the first person point of view. We view this book through Chloe’s jaded eyes.

I liked Chloe in the last book (Waiting for Tom Hanks) she was fun and feisty, loyal to friends, and always had a quick comeback.

Her best friend has hit it big with a movie deal “coffee girl”, and for those who haven’t read the first book, coffee girl was the nickname the hero gave our heroine.

You don’t need to read the first book. But it does help. There are a few things in this book that you’ll only get if you read the first one. But I don’t think it’s really necessary to this book.

So…… the movie Annie made was all about a coffee shop owner and his barista. News gets out that it’s based on a real coffee shop, Nick and Chloe are an overnight gossip piece of news. Everyone wants to come have coffee and meet the inspiration.

I loved how Chloe is always there for her friends. Her top priority at the moment is her dad, he has Alzheimer’s (early stage) and is in a home, but it’s hard, hard watching her dad slip away, hard being the adult and not the child in the relationship.

What I didn’t like was her treatment of Nick, he’s a nice guy, he genuinely likes her, and the kiss they share should have set the stage for the start of their romance, but no. I understand her reluctance, mum leaving a child will scar that person. But she doesn’t do commitment, and her feelings for Nick scare her. Dating someone else who is totally the opposite of Nick wasn’t going to work either! Whenever there is a hint of romance, Chloe is off!

Another book full of great characters, Gary the regular in the coffee shop, giving advice or making a nuisance of himself, Chloe’s ex (the girlfriend who looks after her dad) she’s there to offer a shoulder to cry on, and an ear to listen, even Annie and Drew make an appearance. We even get to meet her brother and his boyfriend.

I think she also feels so frustrated that her brother doesn’t help more with their father. It’s always up to “good ole Chloe”

The references to books are cute up to a point, but I don’t know anyone that lives their life through movies, so I didn’t really connect to the book.

So will Chloe finally get the message? Will she look at Nick in a different light?

Monday’s Post

As I’m running out of media space (I’m on a free page) I’ve decided to change it up a little. So less pictures, unless it’s a book cover. But I’m looking into possibly buying a larger blog space (it will give me more media space) but not until lockdown is finally over, money needs to be spent wisely at the moment.

You might have noticed my reviews have changed a little also. You’ll have to let me know what you think. I’m trying to add an author part, and a few excerpts.

Managed another walk today, I’m aiming to increase the amount of time I’m out walking. I’m trying to go out at least twice a day. Although the weather isn’t great, at least it stayed dry. Back to work in August (unless it’s all back indoors again!)

Arc Review…. Waiting for Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfrey 📱

Waiting for Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfrey

Annie Cassidy dreams of being the next Nora Ephron. She spends her days writing screenplays, rewatching Sleepless in Seattle, and waiting for her movie-perfect meet-cute. If she could just find her own Tom Hanks—a man who’s sweet, sensitive, and possibly owns a houseboat—her problems would disappear and her life would be perfect.

When a movie starts filming in her neighborhood and Annie gets a job on set, it seems like a sign. Then Annie meets the lead actor, Drew Danforth, a cocky prankster who couldn’t be less like Tom Hanks if he tried. Their meet-cute is more of a meet-fail, but soon Annie finds herself sharing some classic rom-com moments with Drew. Could he be her Tom Hanks after all?

My Review…..

One word that comes to mind is cheesy!! It’s fun, but definitely cheesy.

We have a wannabe writer who spends her whole life in a daydream. She’s watched so many Rom-coms, that she sees her life as one. (Almost like “The Truman Show” with Jim Carey) She knows what her ideal man will look like, what he will say and do once they meet, but real life keeps interrupting her.

Dating is a nightmare too, life is not like a screenplay, it’s not like in the movies.

The romance between Drew and Annie is fun to read. Annie was expecting the star of the movie she’s working on to be more!! And he wasn’t, he’s definitely sadly lacking that something, it doesn’t help that she spilt coffee all over him. Albeit not her fault, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And now she’s saddled with the nickname “coffee girl”

They butt heads constantly, they always argue when they see each other on the film set she’s working on. But a slip (literally) sees Annie looking at Drew in a different light. Drew reveals to her why he always acts the idiot, why he shouldn’t be taken seriously.

I loved Chloe, Annie’s best friend, her take on life was totally different from Annie’s, and I did wonder how they became friends?!

The barista and her boss Nick for me was the highlight in this book. The banter, the sarcasm, their connection I totally got.

Loved Uncle Don too, so laid back, never fazed with the antics of his niece. He’d moved in after her parents had died. He played Dungeons&Dragons and always had a smile for his niece.

The constant referrals to films and actors did get a little wearing. But I did find myself making a list of films to watch😉so maybe not all bad.

But In a strange way, by the time I finished the book, I liked it. I got flashes of “Bridget Jones Diary” the internal dialogue, the moments where I had to chuckle, or eye roll.

So does Annie get her happy ending? Your only going to find out if you read the book.

Sunday’s Post

Managed to get some washing out on the line today. Stayed surprisingly dry.

So it’s all done. What do you think ? I just need a frame, and where to put it. When I finally get it on the wall, I’ll put up pictures.

Made the most of the nice weather today. Went for a long walk. Took water and inhalers (good job I did) took it steady, and racked up a really good walk. Did I feel the need to stop into a pub? Not in the slightest. I’m hoping we have a nice week weather wise, need to get out mire.

Saturday’s Post

Got very excited this morning, I see an amazon van, I think that’s my book being delivered early….. no!!! It’s for a neighbour, a little disappointed, hopefully it won’t be long☺️

As you can see, I’m almost done.

Another miserable day at home. Yes we can now venture out at eat in a restaurant, catch up in the pub. But I’m still not sure.

So with a quick walk this morning, I spent the rest of the day reading and making notes.

Oh and 4th of July to you who celebrate it.

Book Review 📖

Vendetta Road (Torpedo Ink) Book 3 by Christine Feehan

Isaak “Ice” Koval is on a club mission when he sees a woman who stops him dead in his tracks. Soleil is a sweet, sexy, girl-next-door type. She’s an innocent who should be nowhere near the rough-and-ready world of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club. But Ice knows Soleil belongs with him – and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

After a life of drifting from one thing to the next, Soleil Brodeur is determined to take control of her life. When her breakup with her manipulative fiancé turns ugly, Soleil searches out the stranger who offered her a lifeline and ends up in a Las Vegas biker bar where she meets a gorgeous, dangerous man straight out of her most secret fantasies.

High on adrenaline, she finds herself falling faster than she thought possible. But Soleil knows little about the territory she’s stumbled into, and even less about what it really means to be Ice’s woman . . .

My Review……

Ice is hunting a monster, in fact a pair of monsters. These men take children from parents (after killing the family) or off the streets and sell them to the highest bidder.

Ice knows all about monsters, coming from a school in Russia, he knows all about sadistic men and women who liked to hurt children.

Growing up he learned quick, or the lessons were painful. They turned him into the killer he is today.

Here in Las Vegas they might be here to celebrate the wedding of Steele and Breezy, but they are also here looking for a ring of abusers.

Soleil is scared, her fiancé is slowly taking over her life. And after a fight, she looks at him in a different light. She never wanted to come to Vegas, and certainly not for a “quickie” wedding…..

Tracking the men, Ice spots a woman who changes everything for him. Just looking at her makes him want to get to know her. But he’s here for a job, and anyway, why would she look at him?

Soleil needs help, he hit her! And she’s done. But where to go? Then remembering the conversation she had with a random stranger, Soleil heads for a bar, any bar…..

She’s here!! Ice can’t believe it, his princess is actually in the biker bar. What’s she doing here? And how can he talk to her, without scaring her away?

It’s a thrilling ride, from there on, both attracted to one another, both wanting marriage. (Ice wanting to keep his princess, and Soleil wanting to escape the crazed fiancé) a drunken night turns into a wedding neither will forget.

Will the dawn bring regrets? And will her fiancé let her go?

And don’t forget the ring that the brothers are tracking. They want answers and they will demand retribution for the children who were taken.

I love this series. And I’m glad Ice was given his story.

These are hard reading, abuse of minors is no easy subject to write about.

And Ice’s penchant for having sex with people watching, she’s ok with it, but a couple of incidences put her in danger and so Ice is feeling guilty. He’s going to have to tell his wife about his past. And he’s not looking forward to it, he thinks she will judge him!!

Love catching up with the Torpedo Ink crew it’s always good. Watching the series evolve and getting more information on each brother is always exciting. And trying to guess who is next is part of the fun.

Friday’s Post

Managed a few walks today. Pleased with the efforts, need to make more of an effort.

Had family night, we had bingo, again the last one. The usual chaos, people called foul 😂

And I had a chat with a few work colleagues on a video chat. We talked about work and then had fun chatting about normal stuff.

Book Review 📖

Vengeance Road (The Torpedo Ink Series) Book 2 by Christine Feehan.

They survived a brutal upbringing in a Russian training facility for assassins. But these men still have a long way to travel for redemption. . .

Breezy Simmons was born into a ruthless motorcycle club—and now that she’s out, she’s never going to be that girl again. But when her past catches up with her, Breezy must go to Sea Haven to seek out the man who almost destroyed her. The man who chose his club over her and left her feeling used and alone.

As vice president of Torpedo Ink, Steele is ride or die for the brothers he lived through hell with. He never thought he’d find something as pure as his feelings for Breezy, or that keeping her safe would mean driving her away with cruel words that turned her love for him to ash.

Now, Steele won’t let her walk away twice. He’ll do whatever it takes to make Breezy his woman again—especially when he learns the real reason she came to him for help, and that the stakes are higher than he ever could have imagined. . .

My Review……

Lyov Russak or “Steele” as he’s known now. He’s the Vice President to the biker club known as “Torpedo Ink”, he leads a team when they have to split. He’s known as Steele for a reason, not only does he have an infinity for metals (he can unlock anything) he has nerves of steel when dealing with the wounded. And he answers to no one except Czar.  He’s also a doctor, never got the degree, but the people he learnt under made sure he knew everything about medicine.

Breezy Simmons has always known the biker life. Born and raised as nothing more than a drugs mule, a body for the men, never seen as a person, not until she met Steele.  But that seemed such a long time ago, he made her feel like a person who mattered. But then like all biker men, he used her and threw her away like everyone else, so Breezy left that life, found another one. One with just her and her son.  But someone took her little boy away, and now she has to ask the one man she never hoped to see again, she had to ask Steele to rescue their son!!

Steele doesn’t know what to do or say, he has a child!! All the emotions he’s pushed away have come rushing back. But he won’t back away from a fight, so he’ll help Breezy, but she won’t escape him again!! It almost broke him to let her go last time, he won’t survive her leaving him again.

I love this series. The whole range of emotions are dealt with in this series. Steele being a bit of a man-whore, but he uses those women to help him forget Breezy. He couldn’t take her with him, so he treated her badly, gave her money and told her to go. But he never forgot her.

This is a second chance at love 💕 both Breezy and Steele are use to being treated unfairly. Both had deep feelings for one another.  But can he forgive her for hiding his son? And can she let him back into her life?

Another good book in a great series. We get to see all the characters from the previous book.  More great fight scenes, the bond between the brothers and sisters is so strong, It’s great to read.  We also get to read more about both Steele and Breezy. How they first met, and how totally besotted he was with her. We read about Breezy’s life, it’s a hard one, but not nearly as hard as Steele’s.

These books are hard going, we read about child abuse, beatings and torture. But it gives you an insight as to why the club runs the way it does. Why the torpedo members are the way they are.  Children having to fend for themselves amongst grown adults, not given anything, they had to fight for everything. So they don’t have nice manners, but they do have each other’s backs.  We find out why Steele has to always be in control.

Have to admit, when I read about the child, it wasn’t what I was expecting. But it’s good. Finding out Steele has a son knocks him for six. He never thought he would have a woman let alone kids.  Reading about Breezy not having easy life made her a perfect match for Steele. There were a few things that had me raising my eyebrows, but if you put yourself in those shoes, then the way they were raised makes sense.

I can’t wait to read the next one.

Thursday’s Post

Can’t believe I’m almost done…… Really pleased with how it’s come out so far. I’ll definitely have to hang it up.

Family quiz was moved from yesterday to today. And it’s been decided that tonight will be the last one. It’s been a lot of fun, lots of healthy debates and a few controversial decisions. As lockdown is beginning to ease, my grandson will be back at work (he works for MacDonalds) but we will catch up for a chat once a week.

Book Review 📖

JUDGMENT ROAD (A Torpedo Ink series) book 1 by Christine Feehan.

As the enforcer of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club, Reaper lives for riding and fighting. He’s a stone-cold killer who turns his wrath on those who deserve it. Feelings are a weakness he can’t afford—until a gorgeous bartender gets under his skin…

Near Sea Haven, the small town of Caspar has given Anya Rafferty a new lease on life. And she’s desperate to hold on to her job at the biker bar, even if the scariest member of the club seems to have it out for her. But Reaper’s imposing presence and smoldering looks just ratchet up the heat.

Anya’s touch is everything Reaper doesn’t want—and it brands him to the bone. But when her secrets catch up to her, Reaper will have to choose between Anya and his club–his heart and his soul.

 Publication date 23 Jan. 2018

My Review……

Savva “Reaper” Pajari had only known happiness for a short time, then it was ripped away from him. Watched in horror as his parents were murdered. Taken from his home, he was sent to a school like no other. He watched as his sisters were killed in front of him, his baby brother tortured and abused, he felt so helpless. He wasn’t left alone either, so horribly beaten, tortured and abused, no wonder a wall came down around his heart.  His saviour came as a ten year old boy “Czar” (also known as Viktor Prakenskii) his undying loyalty to this boy was never in any doubt, and as his way of repaying “Czar” he became his bodyguard, his “sword” and later his “Reaper”.

He now has a family, he still has his baby brother “Savage” he has Czar, and his brothers and sisters from the school. He will die to defend them, he puts them all before himself.  They ride free, they have a code, they also look for killers and dispense their own “justice”.

Anya Raffetty is on the run. After seeing something she shouldn’t have, she needs to lay low. Finding jobs that will pay her cash in hand, living in her car, she’s scared.  Getting the bar job in Casper was just what she needed. Anonymity was what she needed, she came in, she did her job, she went home.

Reaper and Anya have a very different love story, he’s a tortured soul, someone who will never be able to have a normal relationship, and Anya is looking over her shoulder.  He wants her, but he’s not sure he can have her, he’s a killer, and he had so many triggers, he’s terrified he could kill her!! Anya is torn, she fascinated with him, but scared. One minute he wants her gone from the bar, the next he’s kissing her like he’s starving. He has her head all over the place.

But when biker business turns personal, Reaper has to make a decision, the family he loves, or the woman who is slowly becoming his everything.

The attention to detail is what I’ve come to expect from this author.  The fight scenes are great. The angst has you wringing you’re hands, and the backstories have you reaching for the tissues. But we also have some real funny and tender moments.

This series has a very hard hitting backstory. All the members of Torpedo Ink was taken as young children from their families and “trained” to be soldiers or “assassins” abuse, torture and beatings were a daily occurrence. So many children were brought to these “schools”, but only a few ever survived.

So social skills weren’t taught, killing was taught. So how could these children survive? They were all so very young. But in order to survive they formed a group, they called themselves “Torpedo Ink” they also took out every “teacher” and as they grew older, they disappeared, only to re-emerge and band together.  The open road gives them the freedom they never had as children. They have simple rules, but rules they all abide by.

It’s a series that’s just begun, but I hope that each member (eighteen) gets a book.

Wednesday’s Post

Harvard University professor Robert Langdon awakens in a hospital room in Florence, Italy, with no memory of what has transpired over the last few days, but being plagued with hellish visions. Dr. Sienna Brooks, the doctor tending to him, reveals that he is suffering from amnesia as a result of a bullet wound to the head. An orderly says the police are there to question Langdon but the officer turns out to be Vayentha, an assassin, who shoots the orderly while coming up the hallway. Brooks helps Langdon to escape, and they flee to her apartment.

Among Langdon’s personal belongings, Langdon and Brooks find a Faraday pointer, a miniature image projector with a modified version of Sandro Botticelli’s Map of Hell, which itself is based on Dante’s Inferno. They soon realize this is the first clue in a trail left by Bertrand Zobrist, a dangerously unstable villain who believed that rigorous measures were necessary to reduce the Earth’s growing population, and who committed suicide three days earlier after being chased by armed government agents.

Langdon and Brooks figure out that Zobrist, who was obsessed with Dante, has created a fictional superweapon he has dubbed “Inferno”, with the potential of annihilating half the world’s population. In the meantime, they have been traced by both Vayentha and government agents, who try to raid the apartment, forcing them to flee again. The government agents are headed by Elizabeth Sinskey, an old lover of Langdon’s. Vayentha reports to her employer Harry Sims, the CEO of a private security company called “The Consortium”, who is acting on behalf of Zobrist, who gives her instructions to kill Langdon as he had become a liability.

Langdon’s knowledge of Dante’s work and history, and of hidden passages in Florence, allows the two to follow clues such as letters and phrases which lead to various locations in Florence and Venice, while inadvertently killing Vayentha and evading the agents. Along the way, Langdon discovers that he helped a friend of his steal and hide the Dante death mask, a crucial clue, an event he also does not remember. Zobrist had provided Sims with a video message about the attack, to be broadcast after it has been released. Shocked by its content, Sims allies with Sinskey to prevent the outbreak. However, Langdon and Brooks are contacted by Christoph Bouchard, a man purporting to be working for the government, warning them that Sinskey has a double agenda and is after the Inferno for her own profit. The three cooperate for a while, until Langdon realizes that Bouchard is lying and seeking to profit from Inferno himself, forcing the duo to flee on their own again.

Langdon figures out that the attack is in the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. With that knowledge, Brooks abandons Langdon, revealing that she was Zobrist’s lover and that she will ensure the release of the weapon. Zobrist and Brooks used to play treasure hunt games; this trail was the backup plan in case something happened to Zobrist. Langdon is recaptured by Bouchard, but Sims kills Bouchard and rescues Langdon, who then re-teams with Sinskey, who asked him for help in interpreting the imagery from the Faraday pointer. Sims reveals he was hired by Brooks to kidnap Langdon when Zobrist had been killed, and drugged with benzodiazepine to induce a memory loss; the events in the hospital were all staged.

They realize the weapon is in a plastic bag hidden under water in the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul. The agents team – joined by Langdon, Sims, and Sinskey – race to locate and secure the bag, while Brooks and her allies attempt to detonate an explosive that will rupture the bag and aerosolize the weapon. Sims is killed by Brooks, and when Langdon confronts her, she attempts to release the weapon by triggering a suicide bombing. The detonation is able to rupture the bag but because it was already trapped in a special containment unit, the weapon was secured in time, and after struggling in vain against Sinskey and Langdon to destroy the container, Brooks’ allies are killed. The weapon is then taken, and Langdon goes back to Florence in order to return the Dante Death Mask.

Wednesday brings a mixture of rain and sun, but more cloud than sunshine.

It was suppose to be family quiz night, but a family has put it back till tomorrow.

As you can see, I’ve passed my Good Reads challenge, if you don’t know what it is, it’s a book site. You leave reviews, you can find new books and authors. I’ve been on the site for a few years. Each year I set my target, I don’t always reset it, if I do, then it’s towards the end of the year.

Welcome July 🌻

It’s my sister’s birthday this month. 🎂

My Grandsons birthday this month.🎂

I’m also not due back to work until August. So it gives me time to work on my weight and stamina (I haven’t gone outside since the UK lockdown started) I walked to work, that took me about 20 mins, I think if I was to try it at the moment, it would be more like 40 mins! It also gives me a deadline in which I need to make sure reviews are done and on here. So not as many reviews once I go back to work!!

Books I’m looking forward to this month….

Desolation Road (Torpedo Ink Series) by Christine Feehan P/B*

Calistos (Guardians of Hades Romance Series Book 5 by Felicity Heaton ….kindle

*P/B Paperback

Something different

I’m changing the format of my reviews.

If you want to see something added or changed, then please let me know.

I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now, and this is my second site.

I’m always learning. I’m always picking up tips and hints.

I’ve been looking at other sites to give me ideas.

So with new authors I’m going to do a little info on them.

I’m thinking just on the first book I read by that author.

And a snippet/excerpt from the book.

And finally …..

I am an Amazon affiliate and all the book links are my affiliate links. Using them you receive a discount and I do receive a small commission. I’m going to try this. Please let me know if the links don’t work (I think it’s only UK only, but try it and let me know) 😉
