Ben is living his best life, he has a mate, a pack and a home. Yes, he’s worried about the council not agreeing that his pack can stay, but he can’t change anything, he just has to wait. He’s happy his friend William has a mate, he’d love his best friend Nolan to have someone special, but everyone knows Nolan is a one night kinda guy…..
Lyle is the leader of the Traditional Packs of America (TPA), a rival group to the American Shifter Council which refused to accept any gay members. He’s waiting for the right time to take out the whole of the pack, if not, then at least the Alpha and his mate!
Jack having lived a long life already (he’s had and lost two mates) is worried that if he loses his mate William then he won’t cope with the loss again. But he keeps busy teaching his student Evan, and keeping the council up to date on the packs progress. Being a True Elder is sometimes lonely, but at the moment, Jack is happy. But there is someone pulling him away from the pack…..
Nolan Sweet is Ben’s best friend and work partner. They briefly tried the dating thing, but had decided they were better off as friends rather than lovers. And it’s a decision Nolan has never regretted.
Being Ben’s unofficial second Beta in the Gladstone Pack is a job he enjoys. But recently he’s yearning for more…..
Evan is now happily mated to the Alpha, he’s known as the Alpha Mate, but that’s not to say he hasn’t stopped learning from Jack, with them both being True Elder’s they need to pass information on to the next generation.
This book starts about five/six months after the first book finishes (so I’d advise you to read the first one)
Lots went on in the last book, and I’m dying to tell you, but I can’t!!!
As you can see, the story revolves around the previous characters (albeit one or two new faces) they are evolving into a complex group, everyone has their place, and it’s good to see them all coming together.
Fight scenes are great, pretty detailed. In fact that goes for the whole book. And as we got most of the backstory in the first book, there really isn’t any need to repeat a lot of it in this book.
Lyle hates all shifters that aren’t “normal” he’s trying to get the Gladstone Clan disbanded, and is even willing to kill the Alpha Ben! I really didn’t like Lyle, a homophobic asshole!!
That was an emotional ride. Poor Nolan, he’s never really wanted a mate, but after seeing Ben and Evan get together and William and Jack being so happy, Nolan wants that, he may give the impression a one night stand is all he wants, but that’s changed.
When he meets his mate, you would think it would be a cause for celebration? OH NO!! It’s not that simple, Luna has paired him up with their biggest enemy!!! (Luna is the moon goddess, and it’s her grace they all live by.) How could she be so cruel? And when his mate rejects Nolan, I just wanted to scoop Nolan up and cuddle him, I also wanted to take a frying pan to his mate and beat some sense into him!
And we have a new face to watch and remember, Everet. He’s being called by Jack, so that must mean he’s a True Elder?
So as the fight for survival rages on, will Ben be able to protect his clan? Will Jack find Everet? And can poor Nolan convince his mate that they are meant to be together? Or will he lose the only chance of happiness?
But none of this matters if Lyle can get close enough to kill Ben and the Gladstone pack!!!
