My Review……
You have to feel sorry for Cas, going on a date with a money pinching man who only talks about himself is bad enough, but to lose your job because you get carjacked, well that’s just wrong!
Ian has only ever regretted a few things on life, and his biggest regret was bringing his brother into a life of crime!
Meeting the way these characters did, you have to wonder if fate had a hand in it. But reading more of the story, it’s not fate but rather Ian altering Cas’s life! He saw her, wanted her and took her! But a simple one off meeting was never going to be enough for him! And when Cas reaches out to him, he takes the offering with both hands! His life didn’t really alter too much, it was Cas’s life that gets turned upside down! And now she has to pick a side! Either join forces with the police to bring him to justice, or be with Ian forever! How can she choose? If she picks the police, Ian will kill her! If she runs to him, her life will the life of a fugitive!
This is the first in a three book series. And I couldn’t put it down!! It’s also the first book I’ve read from this author, and it won’t be the last.
Ian didn’t seem like the hard nosed criminal you hear about, in fact when he’s around Cas, he’s just focused on her, he can’t do enough for her! But he’s also a violent criminal and he’s told her if she betrays him, then she’s dead! I liked how we see both sides of this story (although the majority is through Cas’s eyes) Ian is totally into her, he knows he shouldn’t have set things in motion when he saw Cas, but he couldn’t seem to stay away! His loyalty/guilt concerning his brother gives us hope he eats a better life for himself a d his brother, but then you catch a glimpse of his violent side, and you have to wonder which side will win out! It’s a dark tell of love/lust. A story that I would’ve liked never to end!
Good job we are warned about the cliffhanger ending! And the fact we don’t have to wait long for the next book, that’s excellent news.

AUTHOR BIO
Charmaine Pauls was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. She obtained a degree in Communication at the University of Potchestroom, and followed a diverse career path in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, photography, graphic design, and brand marketing. Her writing has always been an integral part of her professions.
After relocating to Chile with her French husband, she fulfilled her passion to write creatively full-time. Charmaine has published over twenty novels since 2011, as well as several short stories and articles. Two of her shorts have been selected by the International Literary Society for an anthology from across the African continent.
When she is not writing, she likes to travel, read, and rescue cats. Charmaine currently lives in France with her husband and children. Their household is a linguistic mélange of Afrikaans, English, French and Spanish.
