My Review
Boris is the fighter of the Ivanov brothers. Quick with his fists, he’s the hot headed one, short fused and quick to lash out! But he loves his brothers and would do anything for them.
Nora has brothers of her own! Domineering, opinionated and overbearing! But she knows they love her and will protect her whatever. Inheriting the family pub has caused a few rifts in the family, but she’s good at her job and won’t let anyone take it from her!
This book runs in all directions (we have a little of the past) a little in front and alongside Ruthless Stranger. So I’d say you’d probably need to read them in order.
Without giving too much away, Boris is a killer for Mafia boss Zamir. Once a year he does whatever Zamir says, usually it’s to torture and kill! He has no say, it’s part of a deal the family had to pay. No one is happy about it least of all older brother Maksim (Book 1 Ruthless Stranger) but for years, Boris has had to do as he was told, he will work the debt off, and then he and his brothers will be free of Zamir!
I love this series already. Two books in and I already want more! So many emotions will be dragged from you. I can guarantee you won’t put it down until it’s done! Boris and Nora were just electric. A very forbidden romance. They aren’t related, but Nora will be expected to marry an Irish man! And Boris really shouldn’t get involved with an O’Malley (mafia laws!) But they can’t stay away from one another, smouldering looks, casual touches, until they can’t take it no more….. Then all bets are off, Boris is not going to let Nora marry some Irishman, she belongs to him and he belongs to her. But Nora knows that can’t happen, the clan won’t let her be with a Russian.
It’s a non stop action packed read. There are a few storylines running through this book, and the attention to detail is spot on! These storylines were merge as the series progresses, so in places it did feel a little deja vu, but I like that we get to see the story from different perspectives. Reading how the two fought their attraction to one another. Then when it just got too much for them, they literally burnt the pages! Reading the interaction between Nora and her brothers was good, quick of wit and sharp of tongue. Boris and his brothers also have a close bond, losing their patents made them rely on one another and no one else.
Can Boris convince Nora they can be together? What will happen when the O’Malley clan find out? How will Boris explain to Nora’s brother and his best friend Killian that he’s been seeing his sister behind his back? Can the Russians and the Irish come together without bloodshed? And will Boris and his brothers ever get free from Zamir?
Oh and don’t forget the surprise that will have you covering your mouth, and then smiling broadly.
Excellent Read. Highly recommended. And now the wait for book 3 begins…….

We had a conversation once. I caught her in a weak moment. She drank too much at her older brother Sean’s funeral. Killian and his other brothers were too distraught to notice she went off. I followed her, worried. She told me she could see the killer in my eyes and not from the boxing ring. “You’ve killed men. I saw the change in you years ago. You were seventeen.”
I stood in shock then tried to cover it up. “You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re drunk.”
She sadly laughed, and through tears, said, “I’m an O’Malley. I see all the males in my family morph from boys to men and what that means. And no matter what you do, Boris Ivanov, I see you. The real you.”
To this day, I’m unsure why I did what I did next. Touching her opened Pandora’s box. It was a dip into the well of pleasure I craved but couldn’t have. I tucked her silky red hair behind her ear and possessively cupped her porcelain cheeks, as if she were mine, wiping her tears with my thumbs. “Then you should want to stay away from me.”
More tears fell as her green eyes pierced mine. “Why?”
“You know why.”
“I’ve tried. You keep coming in to see me.” It was an intoxicated admission. She wouldn’t have ever said it if she weren’t. But there it was, out in the open. I wasn’t imagining things. She wanted me as much as I was dying to have her. And she knew I wasn’t only coming to see Killian.
If she hadn’t been drunk, I wouldn’t have stopped myself. The craving I had for her deepened with the unhidden truth. I would have put my mouth over her hot, juicy one and tasted everything I had been obsessing over.
I was still fighting the lust within me when the sound of the metal door shutting, followed by my brother clearing his throat, pulled me out of my dilemma. I released her and spun.
“Killian’s looking for you,” Dmitri said. I avoided his “what the hell are you doing expression” and went inside. But the damage was done. I had gotten too close to everything I had banned myself from having. I told myself to stay away from her. I couldn’t even last twenty-four hours. The next day, I went straight back to Nora’s pub, pretending to look for Killian, knowing he wouldn’t be there but she would.
Time did nothing to quench our attraction. Anything with her was taboo in too many ways. Our families shouldn’t mix, besides Killian and my friendship. It doesn’t matter if she and her brothers try to stay out of the O’Malley crime family business. It’s in their blood. No matter how hard they try to escape it, I see what’s coming.

It’s the middle of the night. The cold air barely registers on my skin when I step outside. I go to Nora’s car and drive several blocks before I pull over.
I should be exhausted, but I’m more awake than ever. We’ve had a traitor among us. I don’t know how deep his betrayal goes. And I can’t get his cries or eyes out of my mind.
After every event with Zamir, I need space to get the smell of death, cries of pain, and visions of torture out of my mind. Torturing and killing Ulan takes me to a different place.
We trusted him with not only our business but our men. Our people. His people. For years, I’ve known Ulan’s face and voice, so unlike a stranger, it snaps something inside me.
