The Rebel (Kingmakers series) by Sophie Lark
Description…..
I Want The One Girl I Can’t Have…
Zoe Romera is trapped in a marriage contract with the most sadistic psychopath at Kingmakers.
She couldn’t be more off-limits. Stealing her from Rocco Prince would break the most ironclad rules of the mafia world.
But I have to have her. She’s my soulmate. I want her, or no one at all.
I’ll do anything to save her. Rocco will do anything to destroy her.
I’ve got one chance to achieve the impossible…
“The Rebel” is is the second book in the epic dark mafia Kingmakers series. It’s a forbidden romance, full of jealousy, desire, and a hero who will do anything to save the woman he loves.

Miles is the son of Aida and Callum (Brutal Prince) they have love and discipline in spades for their son, they’ve always brought him up to respect and help the family.
But Miles is probably more like his mother than father, a wild card a self made young man. He knows what he wants and will get there without the family connections.
But in my opinion a bit of a jerk! Only out for himself!
But as the book progresses there is a side that most people don’t see…..
Zoe Romera is the daughter of a drugs Kingpin, but he’s on the cusp of being taken over by a rival gang. So he’s “arranged” a marriage between his daughter and a stronger family!
She’s known from an early age that she’ll be married off! First meeting she liked her young fiancée, but his actions soon turn her stomach!
But there is no way she’ll be able to escape!
I liked Zoe, clever, resourceful and kind. She’s always looking out for her younger sister, and has just a few close friends.
Cat is Zoe’s sister, and totally clueless as to why she’s here! She was meant to be going to art school and not Kingmakers!!
I wasn’t sure I’d like to read about a third person in this book (but as you read it, you’ll find why the author has added her!)
She’s so shy and quiet, how the hell she’ll survive this place I don’t know!
This one is totally different from The Heir (first book) and although you don’t need to read that one, it would be a crime to miss it. In fact I’d recommend you read the parents book (Brutal Prince) too.
Miles doesn’t intend on inheriting the name or the family business, he’s going to make a name for himself in L.A.
He’s going to be the power behind the famous people. And so far he’s doing ok for himself (so not sure why he’s at Kingmakers?) but he’s done his first year, and he’s looking forward to brokering deals and making more connections in his second year. He’s focused, he’s driven and he’s single minded in what he wants.
So meeting Zoe blows his mind and his plans clean out of the water!
Zoe is “engaged” to Rocco Prince, but it’s not a love match! It’s to broker a deal between families. Zoe hates and despises Rocco with a passion, he on the other hand can’t wait to break her spirit!
I loved this book, it’s darker than the first one. Anna and Leo (The Heir) were best friends that had each other’s backs. So although dark and a little scary in places, it’s not as dark as this one!
Zoe and Miles know of each other, but have never really interacted.
He really shouldn’t get involved, and normally he wouldn’t, but something keeps him in the shadows!
And after he saves her from a horrid incident, they have a connection.
But Zoe can’t have Miles as a friend, she has to be careful at all times, she can’t be seen with him, let alone kiss him! If someone reports back to her father or Rocco, then it could be her sister Cat that gets punished!
But how can they stay away from one another? And Miles doesn’t like to be told what to do….
And as the feelings between them grow, both are playing a dangerous game!
And Cat although sort of enjoying her time at Kingmakers, she wary of making friends, these people are only out for themselves.
So can Miles and Zoe really be together? Or will she have to honour the agreement between the two families? And can Miles just stand back and let her slip through his fingers?
I couldn’t put it down. From start to finish you are engaged, all of your emotions will be tested in this book.
As always well thought out and excellently executed.
It’s a slow burn romance, but as soon as they commit to one another! Damn that’s hot! The moments they do share will burn into your memory!
This series would make a great tv series. It has all the drama, suspense, betrayal and heartbreak needed to keep you entertained. And I was not expecting it to go the way it did. Totally surprised!! Wow
And now the wait for the third book…..

The Lark Notes:
Ohhhh Miles… what happens when you mix my all-time favorite couple from Brutal Prince? You get 75% Aida’s recklessness + 75% Callum’s ruthlessness = 150% Miles. The Rebel is intense, driven, and doesn’t give a f%$# what anybody thinks, until he meets Zoe. – Sophie
