Rebel (A Montgomery brothers series) book 3 by Laura Pavlov
I’m always down for a good time. I’m that guy.
I love women. I love sex. And I love my life.
Go big or go home, right?
My father’s death is a constant reminder of why I like to keep it simple.
Life is short.
Emotional attachments make you weak.
Grieving sucks. And I have no interest in caring deeply for anyone outside of my family.
I’m not looking for complications.
Monroe Buckley is a complication.
And she’s my best friend’s little sister.
But once we’re forced to spend time together…I only want more.
Too bad she’s the one woman who is off-limits.
I don’t trust most people, and I have my reasons.
I’m passionate about my work, and I came here to do a job.
Not date the boss.
Getting hired at the top media company in the city is the break of my life.
But it means working for Jack Montgomery.
My one-time crush.
My brother’s best friend.
And the current thorn in my side.
He’s exactly what I want to avoid.
Yet he’s everywhere I turn. Even when he’s not there—he’s in my head.
He’s a magnet for attention.
A heartbreak just waiting to happen.
And my heart is something I fiercely protect. At all costs.
They say the heart wants what the heart wants…
But my heart isn’t allowed to make that decision anymore.
There’s too much to lose.

This book brings closure to the Montgomery brothers series.
Jack has always been a firm favourite of mine. His character had me laughing at most of his antics.
Jack loves his ladies, usually just the one night kind of guy, he can’t help it if they fall in love with him! He’s never promised them tomorrow.
His second love…. sweets!! Doughnuts, tarts, cookies, you name it, he’ll eat it!
But something has come along that may just be sweeter than the cakes his sister-in-law makes…..
Monroe Buckley, she’s a smart mouthed pistol, those comebacks of hers are sharp and witty, and her one-liners have him throwing his hands up!
One big problem……
He just has to remember, she’s his best friends baby sister.
She’s off limits.
She hates him.
But she sure is cute!
Monroe is a new character, but a welcome addition to the series. The younger sister of Jack’s best friend. She’s known of Jack for years, and she knows all about his conquests.
She smart and focused on her career, so she’s not interested in becoming his next one night stand.
A new addition the Montgomery media group, she’s not happy with doing silly pieces for the column, but it takes time to get established, and Monroe knows this is a great place to work.
It’s a love/hate relationship this couple have for each other.
Jack doesn’t want Monroe hating him, everyone loves him, especially the ladies, so for the moment he’s going to settle for making her like him, nothing else, his best friend would take him apart no dating or flirting with Monroe!
But things take a turn for the strange! An incident sees Jack coming to Monroe’s defence has them caught in a compromising position! And so a fake arrangement is born!
But spending time with Monroe has Jack seeing her in a different light. She’s not like other women he’s been around, she’s more like his sisters-in-law (and he loves those girls to pieces) but he made a promise to his best friend that Monroe won’t get hit on! That’s getting harder and harder each day.
I loved this book, it had me chuckling through most of the book, until it changed slightly, then it was with bated breath and tissues in hand as I reached the final couple of chapters.
Really well written, lovable characters, and a strong supporting cast.
We get to see the other two brothers and how their lives are going.
Sad to see the series come to an end.
Highly recommended book and series.
