It’s my first foray into the written world of Author Veronica Eden, and I’m going to be returning here again and again. A lot of thought and heart went into this book and it shows. I was entertained until the last word was read.
Rowan only wanted to be close to her brother, so if that meant joining the same University then so be it. But before they can start their uni adventure, her brother does missing! Frantic to find him, she turns to the group she was warned not to approach. The Crowned Crows……They maybe able to help, but will the price be too steep for Rowan to pay?
Wren and his brothers run this town. (They are blood brothers, but they know each other so well, they are closer than brothers) There’s nothing these guys don’t know, if it’s going down then they know about it. They trade in secrets, they work in the shadows, and they definitely skate the rules and laws. Wren deals in cold hard facts, emotions cloud judgment and that’s where mistakes are made!
Wow!!! That was a ride!! I’ve been reading a fair few college/bully/dark romances lately. But this one has a different edge to it.
Wren and Rowan make an awesome couple. She’s not some simpering female whose going to sit in the background. No way! She’s up from and in your face! Her attitude is refreshing, her compassion feels genuine and her wit is sharp enough to cut your throat! Wren needs Rowan a lot more than she needs him! Ever since his sister died, (he’s been looking for the culprit. It’s been his sole goal,) there’s been a high wall around his heart, and emotions are totally impenetrable, Rowan gives those back to him. But he’s also a shoulder for her to lean on and an ear when she needs to vent. I also liked the interaction with the rest of the Crows, and I’m hoping they all get stories too. Each had a role in this book, and they all slot in together like a puzzle pieces.
Romance? Oh plenty of it. Starting with a little lust😉 that turns begrudgingly into trust, which is only a stones throw away from love! They both need one another, both have dealt with loss and grief, so they know how each other feels.
Cliffhanger? Yup. And with a few twists thrown in for good measure! We’ve got secrets that need discovering and a murder to apprehend.
Would I Recommend this book? That would be a firm and resounding YES. The plot was executed well. Enough facts and characters to keep it interesting. Nothing seemed to be superfluous.
And the phrase left for Wren, you bet I googled it, and so will you 😉
And now we wait for book two…..
