My Review…..
Now I have to admit, I’ve read Rebecca Zanetti‘s Dark Protectors Series, but I’d only gotten half way through the series. (But I would advise you to read them in order as there is a running thread through the series)
So….. Grace is somewhat special in the immortal world (she’s a key?) and she was in a coma! So Adare volunteered to step up and “sort of mated with her” but Grace wasn’t having any of that world, so Adare stepped away and gave Grace her space and freedom.
Adare is a legend amongst his people, a warrior to the very core, he’s part of the “Seven” (again huh?!) a band of warriors who were engineered to contain a great evil (see I’m going to have to go back and read the missing books!) But what made him bite and mate with the fragile human woman was only known to Adare, and when she took off I got the impression he wasn’t best pleased.
Grace is living the nomad lifestyle (think she’s keeping a low profile for a few reasons) helping people where she can, but she’s becoming sick, she thinks she’s dying.
Adare is your typical alpha male, but he’s also feeling somewhat of a fool, why didn’t he take the time to show his mate how to heal herself, teach her the immortal world (well she did run off and leave him!) he’s worried that she’s sick, his blood should do the trick, getting her to take it is going to prove interesting.
Catching up with her, Adare has no intention of letting his mate escape again, and this time the mating will be done correctly.But should Adare be taking his time to get reacquainted with his mate? He’s on a mission that he probably won’t come back from……
And then we have a cougar shifter who’s is making a play for Adare! Oh I didn’t tell you? She was engaged to him many years ago, but she mated someone else, but he’s dead, and now Jacki wants him to break the mate bond with his fragile human and try again with her!!!!!
So with Grace still missing large parts of her life, she goes back to the scene of the mugging, she finds out who she might have been in the past, does it trigger anything? Boy! Does it!! But her headaches are increasing so Grace doesn’t think she has long before she slips back into a coma!
Great story, but I felt a little out of the loop (probably need to go read the previous books) But the action was on point, the fight scenes were smooth and effortless. And let’s just say that there was enough steam in this book for several saunas 😉
Loved catching up with a few old characters I remembered.
So can Adare finish his mission, find his mate, convince her they should be together and save the world? For those answers your going to have to read the book 😉
