What we may be by Layla Reyne

𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐛

What we were…

Sean found love once, with his college roommate, Trevor, and Trevor’s best friend, Charlotte.
The missing piece, Sean made it possible for Trevor and Charlotte to find love too.
But then Sean left and took the love with him.

What we are…

Now an FBI agent, Sean is back in town, ten years later, to investigate a murder.
A case that pits him against his ex-lovers—Charlotte, a local detective, and Trevor, a literature professor sucked into the Shakespearean mystery.
Everyone guards their hearts, but before long, desire sparks anew the feelings that burned hot a decade ago.
That still burn true.

What we may be…

Love is within their grasp again, but as the killer escalates, it’s more than just their hearts and futures on the line.
Sean, Charlotte, and Trevor will need to work together to solve the case.
If they can’t, lives will be lost and pieces of their love gone for good.

My Review

I’ve not read anything by this author before. But after reading this book I’m definitely interested in reading more of her work.

Sean has come back to Hanover to pay his respects to friends that died in a takedown that went wrong.

What he never suspected to find was two people he has constantly thought about for the last ten years!

He’s still in love with these people, but secrets and the sense of betrayal sent Sean away from them both!!

Trevor became a professor at the local university, teaching English?

Staying friends with Charlotte has been hard! But he’s rather remain in her life as a friend than lose her completely.

Charlotte “Charlie” became a cop, and a damn good one, but when she loses her father and brother, Charlie has to come to terms with loss a day guilt!

Trust has to be earned, and although she’s loved both these men, trust isn’t easy the second time around, and certainly not with Sean!

Ten years ago they were happy, they were in love and Sean was going to propose to them! But something happens that sends him away without a word to Charlie and Trevor, never to return!!

But without Sean, they couldn’t remain a couple, and so Charlie and Trevor remained friends!!

Becoming entangled now would be a mistake, Sean has no plans to stay, he has to keep his distance.

But when Charlie and Trevor move closer to Sean, he takes it as a sign that maybe they could be together….

But what about the reason Sean left? And what happens when that reason is exposed?!

Can Sean really get Charlotte and Trevor to open up and trust him and themselves again?

It’s a second chance at romance story, which I love. This one was so much more….

You would have thought Charlotte and Trevor might have stayed together, but when a pivotal piece of your puzzle is missing, how can you keep it going? They couldn’t, and I could see why. Sean seemed to be the glue that kept them together. They each loved one another fiercely so I’d you take part of that away, it’s going to feel wrong.

The murderer? I was not expecting that person that was for sure!! Twists and turns kept me reading another page……

The chemistry between these three is just off the wall!

I loved the interaction between Trevor and Sean. But I also loved how different Charlie was with Trevor and Sean.

There is a little relief with Charlie and her sister.

Murder/mystery/romance what more could a bookworm want? It really is a book I couldn’t put down, and I urge you to grab a copy. Beautifully written and very well thought out. I didn’t want it to end.

I would have liked a little more background on their history, but other than that I loved it.
