Sunlight shines through the window. I never pulled the shades down and realize Nolan must have his blackout curtains pulled down in his room. It’s later than I assumed. Pills cover the floor next to my bed. My phone is off, and I panic. I quickly turn it on. It’s one of Orla’s rules. My phone is to stay on at all times. While it’s firing up, I kneel and pick up the pills.
“What are you doing?” Nolan’s voice growls.
I inhale sharply and freeze. I close my eyes, embarrassed. I avoid looking at him and clear my throat. “Cleaning up my mess.”
The screen of my phone illuminates, and he races over and snatches it off the bed. “You’re getting a new phone number.”
“No. I can’t. It’s her rule. She’s going to come after me for turning it off last night,” I fret. I finally look at him, and my pulse picks up. As embarrassed as I am, Nolan, in nothing but boxers, is a hard man to tear your eyes away from. His torso of ripped perfection has Celtic knots with a large cross tattooed down the side. The same side has Celtic arrows pointed down and outlining his V.

My Review
We’ve previously met both Nolan me Gemma (in the last book) we’ve also had a taste of how this relationship might go down. And it’s not going to be easy!!
Nolan isn’t interested in Gemma, he thinks she would be better suited for another cousin! He doesn’t do drama! All he wants is a quiet life, and dating her would bring him nothing but trouble!
Gemma is sister to Hailee (Unchosen Ruler) she’s a feisty young woman. Loving life to its fullest, and she thinks dating an O’Malley would definitely be loving a fast life!
This book was just so emotional!
Hate, betrayal, passion and intrigue! Without giving too much of the previous and this book away, the sisters are threatened by another Irish Clan! Hailee is already under the protection of the O’Malleys (dating the Ruler gives her that, and her family) but Gemma wants her own personal bodyguard. And goes about trying to seduce Nolan!
It’s definitely a love/hate relationship, Nolan reluctantly agrees to look out for Gemma, when the threat becomes dangerous! But with secrets being withheld from Nolan, how can he really trust Gemma?
As with all the previous books, you get the drama and the passion. You get the angst and you get the betrayal. Maggie has brought another great story alive with her descriptions. You feel so sorry for Gemma, she’s put under immense pain and pressure from the other Irish Clan. You know she’s a good person, but when your constantly under threat, even the best if people will crack under pressure! Throw in jealously from another woman who wants Nolan and you have an amazing story.
