Rebel North book 2 (North Brothers Series) by JB Salsbury
Description
In a city where image is everything, Gabriella turns heads for all the wrong reasons.
The marks that slash across her neck and face turn people away. But I see the beauty that lies beneath, feel a kinship to her pain.
I regret the way she found me—mugged and left for dead. I should walk away, follow the rules, but I can’t. I want to see her again. There’s only one problem.
My brother convinced her I’m gay.
I use that lie to my advantage, persuade her to be my pretend girlfriend, to help protect my fake-sexual identity from my judgmental family. But what starts as a shameless excuse to be near her leads to crossed lines and midnight confessions.
I’m not who I led her to believe. I’m sin wrapped in silk. Betrayal masked by beauty.
And she’s not the only one with scars…

My Review
This one is soooooo different from the first book (Wild North, which still remains my favourite so far) Whereas Alexander was a growly, insanely possessive alpha, Kingston is a sophisticated, well dressed metro male (are we still using that term?) 🤷🏻♀️ But that’s not to say it’s not a great read. It is, it was a book I couldn’t leave alone until I got to the last page (never a good thing when you download it in the evening and you’ve got work the next day! 🥱
Anyway Kingston is the laid back, well dressed, fun loving younger North brother. His father was such a task masker when the boys were younger, it was no wonder they turned out the way they did! He hides his real face behind wit and booze, the ladies man, the charmer. But underneath it all is a man who just wants to be loved for himself, he’s also got a little bit of a dark side!
Gabriella is a care worker, working in a hospice she sees death on an almost daily basis! It saddens her, but after facing death in the eye and winning (if you can call it that!) she is no longer afraid, nothing and no one fazes her any longer.
There are some pretty funny moments in this book, the first being how these two characters first meet. And I think Kingston would love to go back and change her opinion of him 😉 A misunderstanding leads to Gabriella assuming Kingston is gay!! And for a while he goes along with it, until he realises he wants her to see him as all man! There are also a few moments that may have you reaching for your tissues.
We get to catch up with all the brothers (Alexander Is still growling but not as much, thanks to Jordan, Hayes is still trying to micromanage everyone, and Hudson is just adorable)
An enjoyable read which I highly recommend. And hoping the next brother is soon.
