King of Corium: Dark Enemies to Lovers Bully Romance (Corium University Book 1) by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman

Description
She came here for protection, but thatโs the last thing she’s going to find.
Welcome to Corium University, where the most dangerous criminals in the world send their offspring. Assassins, mafia leaders, arms dealers and art thieves.
You name it, this college houses them.
Nothing can touch us here.
The only rule: No one can die.
I knew she would be here.
Aspen was my enemy in every shape of the word. A liar, a thief. I wanted revenge for my family, revenge against her father.
I knew the rules. Knew I couldnโt kill her, but I could hurt her. I could make her wish she never came to Corium. She wasnโt made for this place.
If she thought the university was the only nightmare she would have to face, she was wrong.
I was the king, and this was my kingdom.
**King of Corium is a dark new adult, enemies to lovers romance, that contains dark themes, including dub-con, and non-con. It is not a standalone novel.**

My Review
This is the first book Iโve read by these authors, and Iโm definitely going back to read previous books. It looks like this is a continuation of a previous series, but now itโs the kids, and theyโve all grown up!
It did remind me a little of the Sophie Lark books, but only in that itโs the kids that gave grown up and are attending a school for Mafia kids.
Plenty going on, the writing flowed so well, there didnโt feel like any plot holes, and the style of writing is dark and just a little twisted.
There are triggers, so please read the warnings before grabbing this book. There are elements of bullying, dubious consent and the dreaded cliffhanger!
Loved the characters, they were all well thought out and given free reign to do what comes naturally to teenagers! ๐ Secondary characters are a few, but most are just background (but Iโm sure they will come to the forefront at some point.)
The story is based on two characters that know of one another. One hates the other because of what happened in their past, and he makes it his work to make her so uncomfortable at the school. But sheโs not going to let him break her down (although some of the stuff he did, would have made me curl up into a little ball)
Itโs an enemies to lovers/bully romance, and just a little pinch of angst.
I couldnโt put it down until the last page. And now itโs a wait for the second book.
But if you like your romance dark, filled with delicious moments of tension and you like cliffhangers, then Iโd recommend you grab this one, grab tissues, chocolate and a blanket and settle down to enjoy visiting Corium University.
