My Review
This series just continues to surprise and delight me, even after 20 books in this series, the author comes up with fresh characters and ideas for some of the older characters we know and love.
Hella is a witch of extraordinary ability, well that’s what she advertises her abilities as. We’ve meet Hella in a few of the previous books, and I did wonder if at some point our feisty witch would get a mate!
Just gotten out of a pretty one sided relationship with a nymph, Hella is now out to have fun and no commitment.
Grant MacKinnon is a wolf shifter from Scotland, he’s also several centuries old! From a small pack in Scotland our hero is content to drink whiskey and care for his pack.
Wrong place wrong time has Grant wishing he’d never left his home.
But with the lure of finding a mate, this wolf wants his mate, and no one will get between them!
They first meet in Lucia, when MacKinnon rescues her from drowning! But is she thankful? Nope, she does a disappearing act on him and leaves him wondering what just went on!
He needs to convince her that she’s his mate, but Hella doesn’t want to be tied down to another dominant male. So they are at an impasse! And when she finds out that MacKinnon has to deliver her to the witch who cursed him! What?! Curses?! You’ll need to read to find out who and why 😉 but can MacKinnon really uphold his side of the deal?
This world is full of colour, with its action packed scenes, the tender moments and the witty banter that Hella throws out. It’s also a little scary in places (who wants to be married to a pervy nymph?) and the consequences of one’s actions!
We get to catch up with a few characters from other books, and make new friends too (a certain Unseelie Prince makes an appearance)
So, can a witch overcome her fear of being dominated and made to feel a slave? Can her wolf honestly dial back his Alphaness and not treat her like an object?
And will MacKinnon believe she’s really his mate and not some spell cast upon him?
And can they work together to evade the King of the Nymphs? Or will Hella be tied to the wrong make forever?!
And back to the vampires in the next book (can’t wait) a previous character that I’ve waited a while to read about. (Night is related to Grave, who? well read the books and find out)
I’d recommend this author and this series all day long.
It’s Long enough to satisfy the long book readers, but with enough action and passion to keep shifter lovers everywhere happy.
It’s not necessary to read the series in order, but lots of characters from previous books have been known to pop in (and her time line does mingle with other books) so if you don’t want to know if a character has mated then best to read in order.
