Dark Song (Dark Carpathian) book 34 by Christine Feehan

Two Carpathians find hope in the bond that ties their souls in this passionate novel in Christine Feehan’s #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Stolen from her home at a young age and tormented for centuries, Elisabeta Trigovise is scared to show herself to anyone. Even though she has been rescued and is now safe within the Carpathian compound, she has lived in fear for so long she has no idea how to survive without it. She wants to answer the siren call of her lifemate – but the very thought terrifies her.

Before he found Elisabeta, Ferro Arany was an ancient warrior without emotion. Now that his senses have come alive, he knows it will take more than kind words and soft touches to convince the fractured woman that they are partners, not master and prisoner. For now, he will give her his strength until she finds hers, allowing the steady rhythm of his heart to soothe Elisabeta’s fragile soul.

But even as she learns to stand on her own, the vampire who kept her captive is desperate to claim her again, threatening the song Elisabeta and Ferro are writing together.

My Review

Where do I start? Do I say that this has to be one of her better ones in a long time?

It felt like she’d lost her way for a while. But this book put her back on track, we now have a storyline to follow (nope can’t tell you)

Do I mention the fight scenes were amazing (if a little short in places) Do I tell you I loved Ferro and Elisabeta. They were perfect for one another?

Do I tell you that I devoured this book in almost one sitting?

We I did and I will.

Ferro has been in the last few books, he’s an ancient, and I don’t mean old, I mean ancient, older than dirt, he’s older than almost all of the Carpathian’s alive!

He wears a tattoo, in fact several (and it’s hard to tattoo a carpathian as they pretty much heal from most things) he swears to hold onto his honour for his people, he swears he will keep his honour for his lifemate. The ancients no longer feel anything, not even the darkness that waits for them (the darkness is the vampire waiting to take their soul) so if they turn, there will be no warning sign.

From the book Dark Crime, the ancients come into their own.

They are separate from the other Carpathians, they live in a monastery, praying daily and honing their battle skills, they cloistered themselves away to keep human and carpathians safe.

So from Dark Crime a new story emerges….

And now the ancients have a mission, they’ve been told they have lifemates out in the world waiting for them. And one by one they are finding them.

But they are coming into a new world, a works where technology is king. And lifemates aren’t just female Carpathians!

It’s been fun watching the ancients fall for their mates. But unlike most Carpathians, they seem to actually relish the challenge of modern women.

But Ferro doesn’t get a modern woman, he gets a bird trapped in a cage. A woman so cowed and scared that he doesn’t know if they will ever be a couple…..

Elisabeta was born to a normal Carpathian family, loved and cherished as all females of that race are.

Her gift like all females usual aid the race. She brings peace and calm to those who need it, older Carpathians would visit and she would soothe their soul.

Elisabeta but she was targeted by a close family friend to become his slave! Kept hidden from everyone for centuries! Verbally abused, beaten and tortured on a daily basis, until she complied with her master, she didn’t think for herself, she couldn’t, she wasn’t allowed to speak or move until told to!

But she had a spine of steel (even though she did to think so) being taught to be quiet, Elisabeta learned things that most Carpathian women wouldn’t have. Battle plans and strategy.

So the master in the end was degreased by his slave!

The story between Elisabeta and Ferro was lovely. He took his time with his new lifemate. Not really knowing how to handle her (but lifemates are put together for a reason) and they complemented one another. She didn’t want to be a modern woman, there was no way she would do battle with the vampires like some of the females demanded. And Ferro being an ancient didn’t know what to do with a modern woman anyway!

It was nice that we got a story and not endless pages of sex!

She needed a gentle hand and she got that with Ferro.

So where do we go from here? I’m hoping another great story with more battles and content.

It’s going to be a long wait as Ms Feehan only brings a Carpathian story out once a year!

So it’s back to the beginning, for me.

And possibly a trip back to the Carpathian Mountains for the ancients.

Book Review…. Desolation Road (The Torpedo Ink series) book 4 by Christine Feehan 📖

Desolation Road (The Torpedo Ink series) book 4 by Christine Feehan

Take the ride of your life with the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club in this thrilling romance novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Torpedo Ink is Aleksei ‘Absinthe’ Solokov’s whole life. They’re his brothers, his family and his everything. But that doesn’t stop him from wanting something that only belongs to him. That’s why the tough biker has spent the last six weeks at the library, reading every book he can get his hands on and watching the prim and proper librarian who makes his blood rush.

For the past six weeks, Scarlet Foley has been fantasizing about the handsome, tattooed man whose eyes follow her every move. She senses he’s dangerous. She wants him to get close enough to touch. She wishes she could let him know the real woman, not the one she pretends to be. But Scarlet has a plan to carry out, and she can’t afford any distractions.

Absinthe is well aware that Scarlet is hiding something. She’s a puzzle he intends to solve, piece by intoxicating piece . . .

Excerpt from Desolation Road

Aleksei Absinthe Solokov, loved books. He loved the smell of them. The sight of them. The information in them. He especially loved the places he could go in them. Books had saved his life on more than one occasion. He’d originally come to this place, needing the quiet and peace, needing the scent and the words. And once again, books had led him to find something so unexpected, so spectacular, he still hadn’t accepted the offering, the gift, not quite believing yet, but he couldn’t walk away.

He sat in his favorite place right in front of the tallest stacks. The table was smaller and less inviting, due to the crowded space. He didn’t like being disturbed. He came to the library to get respite from the continual bombardment of other people’s thoughts and emotions. He could command with his voice, and sometimes the temptation to tell everyone to not think or speak for five minutes was sometimes brutally hard to resist. He needed to feel normal when he wasn’t. He wanted to see if he could fit in somewhere, but he knew he couldn’t. He needed to stand on his own, but it was impossible.

His small table, nearly hidden there beside the taller stacks, not only protected him from unwanted company, but gave him a direct view to the desk where the librarian checked out books, recommended reads, and sometimes—make that often—helped teens with their homework. He had been coming for over a month. Six weeks to be exact. And he just watched her. Like a fucking stalker. The librarian. She was so damn sexy he was shocked that the place wasn’t overrun with single men—because she was single. He’d made it his business to find out.

My Review….

Absinthe has the ability to “hear and feel” lies, he can also suggest things to you, make you do things subconsciously. A human lie detector.

Scarlet is a librarian, loves the job, helps the kids with their school work, and lives a quiet life.  After being almost attacked by her college boyfriend and his buddies, Scarlet tries to get the law to punish them. But the boyfriends father is powerful, and Scarlet’s world is torn apart. And now she’s in hiding.  But she’s not some shrinking violet, oh no, she’s out for revenge. And one by one, all those who failed both Scarlet and her family will pay.

Absinthe is fascinated with the library, well he loves to learn, but he’s more fascinated with the librarian. For six weeks he’s been coming to this library, reading and watching her. His body reacts without directions (not a normal thing for this biker) he’s almost certain she’s meant to be his. But he knows she’s hiding something or from someone, he just has to figure it out.

Scarlet is well aware of the hunk sitting in the library, reading and watching her, she watches him constantly. She’s drawn to him, but knows she can’t approach him, he’s dangerous but she’s not sure why.

This one had me both chuckling and wringing my hands.   We get more background on Absinthe and a few members of Torpedo Ink. As you maybe new to this series (I would urge you to read from the start of the series) Torpedo Ink MC (motorcycle club) is a biker club with a difference. All the members are from a school for assassins. But not everyone made it out alive! And it wasn’t voluntary, and it certainly wasn’t meant for children!  Taken from his home as a small child, Aleksei and his brother were beaten, tortured and abused on a daily basis. Along with hundreds of other children. Forming a group/pack their leader Viktor “Czar” honed each child into a killer (he couldn’t shield them, so he had to help them somehow) and now eighteen survivors ride and survive together.  There is a spark almost instantaneously. But both are wary, both are hiding things. Both have a dark past.  Now each torpedo ink member has a kink! Someone that is unique to them, and I can’t give away Absinthe’s (you’ll have to read it to find out) but it has me spitting my coffee out, and almost choking!!  Sex scenes are plentiful and inventive, but so is the action.  Torpedo Ink are hunters, they go after sex traffickers, pedophile rings and anyone who thinks themselves outside the law. We get to watch as they plan their attacks, and have a ringside seat as the action unfolds.  There is also a new character added to the gang of bikers. Can he be trusted?

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It does state there could be triggers for people who’ve suffered or could suffer after reading.  But the subject is treated with respect.

I love this series and the author. The pages come alive with the descriptions. All the characters are well known, and any titbit is welcome.

Looking forward to the next book.

Book Review 📖

Vendetta Road (Torpedo Ink) Book 3 by Christine Feehan

Isaak “Ice” Koval is on a club mission when he sees a woman who stops him dead in his tracks. Soleil is a sweet, sexy, girl-next-door type. She’s an innocent who should be nowhere near the rough-and-ready world of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club. But Ice knows Soleil belongs with him – and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

After a life of drifting from one thing to the next, Soleil Brodeur is determined to take control of her life. When her breakup with her manipulative fiancé turns ugly, Soleil searches out the stranger who offered her a lifeline and ends up in a Las Vegas biker bar where she meets a gorgeous, dangerous man straight out of her most secret fantasies.

High on adrenaline, she finds herself falling faster than she thought possible. But Soleil knows little about the territory she’s stumbled into, and even less about what it really means to be Ice’s woman . . .

My Review……

Ice is hunting a monster, in fact a pair of monsters. These men take children from parents (after killing the family) or off the streets and sell them to the highest bidder.

Ice knows all about monsters, coming from a school in Russia, he knows all about sadistic men and women who liked to hurt children.

Growing up he learned quick, or the lessons were painful. They turned him into the killer he is today.

Here in Las Vegas they might be here to celebrate the wedding of Steele and Breezy, but they are also here looking for a ring of abusers.

Soleil is scared, her fiancé is slowly taking over her life. And after a fight, she looks at him in a different light. She never wanted to come to Vegas, and certainly not for a “quickie” wedding…..

Tracking the men, Ice spots a woman who changes everything for him. Just looking at her makes him want to get to know her. But he’s here for a job, and anyway, why would she look at him?

Soleil needs help, he hit her! And she’s done. But where to go? Then remembering the conversation she had with a random stranger, Soleil heads for a bar, any bar…..

She’s here!! Ice can’t believe it, his princess is actually in the biker bar. What’s she doing here? And how can he talk to her, without scaring her away?

It’s a thrilling ride, from there on, both attracted to one another, both wanting marriage. (Ice wanting to keep his princess, and Soleil wanting to escape the crazed fiancé) a drunken night turns into a wedding neither will forget.

Will the dawn bring regrets? And will her fiancé let her go?

And don’t forget the ring that the brothers are tracking. They want answers and they will demand retribution for the children who were taken.

I love this series. And I’m glad Ice was given his story.

These are hard reading, abuse of minors is no easy subject to write about.

And Ice’s penchant for having sex with people watching, she’s ok with it, but a couple of incidences put her in danger and so Ice is feeling guilty. He’s going to have to tell his wife about his past. And he’s not looking forward to it, he thinks she will judge him!!

Love catching up with the Torpedo Ink crew it’s always good. Watching the series evolve and getting more information on each brother is always exciting. And trying to guess who is next is part of the fun.

Book Review 📖

Vengeance Road (The Torpedo Ink Series) Book 2 by Christine Feehan.

They survived a brutal upbringing in a Russian training facility for assassins. But these men still have a long way to travel for redemption. . .

Breezy Simmons was born into a ruthless motorcycle club—and now that she’s out, she’s never going to be that girl again. But when her past catches up with her, Breezy must go to Sea Haven to seek out the man who almost destroyed her. The man who chose his club over her and left her feeling used and alone.

As vice president of Torpedo Ink, Steele is ride or die for the brothers he lived through hell with. He never thought he’d find something as pure as his feelings for Breezy, or that keeping her safe would mean driving her away with cruel words that turned her love for him to ash.

Now, Steele won’t let her walk away twice. He’ll do whatever it takes to make Breezy his woman again—especially when he learns the real reason she came to him for help, and that the stakes are higher than he ever could have imagined. . .

My Review……

Lyov Russak or “Steele” as he’s known now. He’s the Vice President to the biker club known as “Torpedo Ink”, he leads a team when they have to split. He’s known as Steele for a reason, not only does he have an infinity for metals (he can unlock anything) he has nerves of steel when dealing with the wounded. And he answers to no one except Czar.  He’s also a doctor, never got the degree, but the people he learnt under made sure he knew everything about medicine.

Breezy Simmons has always known the biker life. Born and raised as nothing more than a drugs mule, a body for the men, never seen as a person, not until she met Steele.  But that seemed such a long time ago, he made her feel like a person who mattered. But then like all biker men, he used her and threw her away like everyone else, so Breezy left that life, found another one. One with just her and her son.  But someone took her little boy away, and now she has to ask the one man she never hoped to see again, she had to ask Steele to rescue their son!!

Steele doesn’t know what to do or say, he has a child!! All the emotions he’s pushed away have come rushing back. But he won’t back away from a fight, so he’ll help Breezy, but she won’t escape him again!! It almost broke him to let her go last time, he won’t survive her leaving him again.

I love this series. The whole range of emotions are dealt with in this series. Steele being a bit of a man-whore, but he uses those women to help him forget Breezy. He couldn’t take her with him, so he treated her badly, gave her money and told her to go. But he never forgot her.

This is a second chance at love 💕 both Breezy and Steele are use to being treated unfairly. Both had deep feelings for one another.  But can he forgive her for hiding his son? And can she let him back into her life?

Another good book in a great series. We get to see all the characters from the previous book.  More great fight scenes, the bond between the brothers and sisters is so strong, It’s great to read.  We also get to read more about both Steele and Breezy. How they first met, and how totally besotted he was with her. We read about Breezy’s life, it’s a hard one, but not nearly as hard as Steele’s.

These books are hard going, we read about child abuse, beatings and torture. But it gives you an insight as to why the club runs the way it does. Why the torpedo members are the way they are.  Children having to fend for themselves amongst grown adults, not given anything, they had to fight for everything. So they don’t have nice manners, but they do have each other’s backs.  We find out why Steele has to always be in control.

Have to admit, when I read about the child, it wasn’t what I was expecting. But it’s good. Finding out Steele has a son knocks him for six. He never thought he would have a woman let alone kids.  Reading about Breezy not having easy life made her a perfect match for Steele. There were a few things that had me raising my eyebrows, but if you put yourself in those shoes, then the way they were raised makes sense.

I can’t wait to read the next one.

JUDGMENT ROAD (A Torpedo Ink series) book 1 by Christine Feehan.

As the enforcer of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club, Reaper lives for riding and fighting. He’s a stone-cold killer who turns his wrath on those who deserve it. Feelings are a weakness he can’t afford—until a gorgeous bartender gets under his skin…

Near Sea Haven, the small town of Caspar has given Anya Rafferty a new lease on life. And she’s desperate to hold on to her job at the biker bar, even if the scariest member of the club seems to have it out for her. But Reaper’s imposing presence and smoldering looks just ratchet up the heat.

Anya’s touch is everything Reaper doesn’t want—and it brands him to the bone. But when her secrets catch up to her, Reaper will have to choose between Anya and his club–his heart and his soul.

 Publication date 23 Jan. 2018

My Review……

Savva “Reaper” Pajari had only known happiness for a short time, then it was ripped away from him. Watched in horror as his parents were murdered. Taken from his home, he was sent to a school like no other. He watched as his sisters were killed in front of him, his baby brother tortured and abused, he felt so helpless. He wasn’t left alone either, so horribly beaten, tortured and abused, no wonder a wall came down around his heart.  His saviour came as a ten year old boy “Czar” (also known as Viktor Prakenskii) his undying loyalty to this boy was never in any doubt, and as his way of repaying “Czar” he became his bodyguard, his “sword” and later his “Reaper”.

He now has a family, he still has his baby brother “Savage” he has Czar, and his brothers and sisters from the school. He will die to defend them, he puts them all before himself.  They ride free, they have a code, they also look for killers and dispense their own “justice”.

Anya Raffetty is on the run. After seeing something she shouldn’t have, she needs to lay low. Finding jobs that will pay her cash in hand, living in her car, she’s scared.  Getting the bar job in Casper was just what she needed. Anonymity was what she needed, she came in, she did her job, she went home.

Reaper and Anya have a very different love story, he’s a tortured soul, someone who will never be able to have a normal relationship, and Anya is looking over her shoulder.  He wants her, but he’s not sure he can have her, he’s a killer, and he had so many triggers, he’s terrified he could kill her!! Anya is torn, she fascinated with him, but scared. One minute he wants her gone from the bar, the next he’s kissing her like he’s starving. He has her head all over the place.

But when biker business turns personal, Reaper has to make a decision, the family he loves, or the woman who is slowly becoming his everything.

The attention to detail is what I’ve come to expect from this author.  The fight scenes are great. The angst has you wringing you’re hands, and the backstories have you reaching for the tissues. But we also have some real funny and tender moments.

This series has a very hard hitting backstory. All the members of Torpedo Ink was taken as young children from their families and “trained” to be soldiers or “assassins” abuse, torture and beatings were a daily occurrence. So many children were brought to these “schools”, but only a few ever survived.

So social skills weren’t taught, killing was taught. So how could these children survive? They were all so very young. But in order to survive they formed a group, they called themselves “Torpedo Ink” they also took out every “teacher” and as they grew older, they disappeared, only to re-emerge and band together.  The open road gives them the freedom they never had as children. They have simple rules, but rules they all abide by.

It’s a series that’s just begun, but I hope that each member (eighteen) gets a book.

Book Review 📖

Shadow Flight (The Shadow Series) Book 5 by Christine Feehan

Chicago’s Ferraro crime family will do anything to protect one of their own . . .

Nicoletta Gomez was a terrified teenager when Taviano Ferraro and his brother saved her life. Ever since, she’s been trying to rise above what was done to her, molding herself into a survivor under the protective eyes of the Ferraro family. All the while, she’s been falling hopelessly in love with the man who knows her darkest secrets . . .

With one look, Taviano knew that Nicoletta was his, just as he felt their shadows connect. But no matter how much he wanted to claim her, he knew she needed time to become her own woman. When Nicoletta once again finds herself in the sights of dangerous men, a split-second decision has Taviano breaking all of the Ferraro family’s rules to keep her safe. And as far as he’s concerned, the reward is more than worth the risk.

My Review……

Taviano is a playboy, a racing car driver, and racing engine designer. He lives life to the fullest, a beautiful woman on his arm to all the best restaurants and

Nicoletta’s a broken doll. The obsession of a mad man, a vicious killer and leader of a huge gang. He’s had a taste, but wants more, and he won’t stop until he gets her back!!

She’s trying to get her life back together, the Ferraro family have been so patient with her. Teaching her self-defence, sending her to school to finish her education, finding her a family to love and cherish her.

At first she rebelled, she didn’t know what to do with all these people wanting to help her. Her family were ripped away from her, the uncles she was placed with were suppose to love and protect her, not abuse and beat her, they weren’t suppose to hand her over to a violent man to abuse.

The Ferraro family rescued her from that hell, saw her beaten and abused body, but never blamed her.

So she acted out, tried to run away, drank too much, and made her adopted family’s life a misery. But they still loved her, and slowly Nicoletta began to believe in herself……

Taviano has always known Nicoletta would be his, the night he rescued her changed him forever. To see his shadow mix with hers was a shock, but he promised the family and to himself he would be patient, he would wait until she was ready.

*when shadows move towards each other and mingle, it means they’ve found the woman meant to be theirs, it means she can bear children to become riders. Riders of shadows, dispensers of justice.*

Their story has been a slow build up from book one, we’ve seen snippets of them interacting with one another, and Taviano telling his brothers about his feelings towards Nicoletta.

This is the fifth book in the series. And my favourite so far. The patience our hero had with her. The romance (where most of the books in this series go straight to the sex) in this book was lovely to read, he knew she’d need care and to be treated as a partner and not just a wife.

I do have to admit the ending was a little quick, I would have preferred a confrontation between Nicoletta and her tormentor. Maybe she could have served justice herself.

We also get lots of new names for potential books (cousins coming in from all over America) so let’s hope this series goes on for a while.

Bound Together (A Sea Haven) Sisters of the Heart Series Book 6 by Christine Feehan

For five years, Viktor Prakenskii has put his life on hold to take down the world’s most feared motorcycle club from the inside. But carrying out the insane violence and seeing their exploitation of the innocent has brought his traumatic past roaring back. And there’s only one cure. To see the wife he left behind…

Blythe Daniels never thought she’d see Viktor again—after he murdered her stepfather and left without a word. She rebuilt her life without him, becoming a personal trainer and physical therapist…becoming strong enough for others to lean on. But when Viktor comes back to Sea Haven, he’ll make Blythe question everything she thought she knew about good and evil—and the dark desires of the heart…

My Review……

The final book in this series. It will bring all the sisters of the heart and their men into this battle. Bringing a few surprises along the way.

Viktor was torn from his family at an early age, watched as his parents were murdered, feeling helpless as his brothers were taken from him. All separated, all kept away from him. Then for the next ten years beaten, abused and tortured. Turning him into an assassin, a stone cold killer.

But he made a promise to his father, he promised he would always look out for them.

Blythe is a cousin to the Drake sisters, she’s been a constant fixture in the sisters of the heart series, I got the impression she was always a little distant with them, and after reading her story, I now understand why. An alcoholic mother who always betrayed her, always belittled her, and never showing her any love.

Blythe met and fell in love with Viktor, it seemed her life would finally be a good one, then it all went to hell……

Five long years have passed for both of them. Neither knowing what was going on with each other’s lives. Viktor hoping Blythe would take him back, and Blythe just trying to get through each day.

I loved this book, we got to see the brothers finally reunite after almost thirty years apart. We get to see all the Sisters interact with each other too. And the best bit, the Drake sisters and their husbands are in it too. It’s a goodbye of sorts, but it also sees another spin off series “Torpedo Ink” take shape.

I loved the connection between Blythe and Viktor, he made me want to hit and hug him for most of the book.

The battle near the end was intense, action coming in from all angles. The scenes of abuse were hard to read, but it only added to this story. The sadness of loss, reading those pages had me in tears. Plenty of laughs to counteract the sadness. And sex scenes that will blow your mind.

Reading about the Prakenskii brothers getting their happy ending was a great way to end this series. All being moulded into killers, but finding redemption, peace and love with women who accept them for who they are. The women who were also fighting demons (victims of violent crimes) they needed men who could protect and love them for who they were.

I can’t wait to read the next series.

Fire Bound (A Sisters of the heart series) A Sea Haven Novel book 5 by Christine Feehan

Flame-haired Lissa Piner is a skilled glass blower whose delicate gift conceals a burning inner strength that can destroy as exquisitely as it can create. Commissioned to design chandeliers for a string of luxury hotels, her remarkable skills have taken her to Italy. But Lissa’s real mission there is a secret. For her entire life has been a lie, leading to a chance to avenge a terrible wrong.

Enlisted as her bodyguard is Casmir Prakenskii, a trained assassin living off the grid. In Lissa, he sees a kindred spirit – something unexpected and wicked, mysterious and sensual. But more than desire is about to bring them together: because both of their pasts cry out for revenge. And for two people with this many secrets, this much passion, and this many enemies, someone is bound to get burned.

My Review …
Lissa is a killer, but no one knows her other persona, to everyone else she is just fiery tempered Lissa, the glass blower, the famous chandelier maker.
But she’s on a mission, and no one is going to stop her.
She’s out to revenge her family, then she’s going to take out the men hunting the Prakenskii brothers, keeping them safe means keeping her sisters safe. She knows she won’t come back, but she’s willing to sacrifice herself for her family.
And after getting intel from her new brother-in-law Gavriil, her target is close. Her endgame in sight.
Casmir Prakenskii is undercover, he’s always been undercover, he can’t remember a time when he wasn’t someone else. A promise to his brothers have him shadowing Lissa, he’s surprised she’s going after the men who killed his family, that’s his job. He’s got nothing else, but meeting and interacting with her gives him pause for thought. Could she be his woman? He knows his brothers have all found theirs, but could she be for him? He knows taking out the Russians who killed his parents will mean death, and he’s never really cared, but if Lissa is here, then maybe he has something to live for.
Both Casmir and Lissa are fire elements, both have hot tempers, but it’s the flames of passion that could be their greatest challenge, can they really have a happy ending?
This book is full of action. Most of the women in this series are pretty mild mannered. And yes Lissa has come from a tragic background, but she’s not willing to forgive and forget, she’s out for revenge. And if that means sacrificing herself, then so be it. She has honed herself since childhood, making herself into a weapon, a mistress of disguise.
The fight scenes are brutal, the backstory to both Lisa’s and Casmir’s lives are hard, and that’s why they work well together. She’s a warrior, and will always be in the front of the battle, and not hiding.
I like this book, I like this series, it’s great that we keep in touch with previous characters, it’s also setting us up for the final book, and the spin off series.

Book Review 📖

Earth Bound (A sisters of the heart series) A sea Haven novel. Book 4 by Christine Feehan

After escaping from a cult, Lexi found refuge with her sisters on the farm that more than sustained her body–it nurtured her soul as well. But she never forgot the terror she left behind or the always present fear that the cult would find her again, and claim her. Then her nightmare came true.

Lexi was discovered and threatened—only to be suddenly saved by a stranger. He is Gavriil Prakenskii, and he’s awestruck by the woman he’s rescued. She is destined for him. He can feel it in his soul. But how can Lexi find happiness with a man steeped in secrets and shadows, one intimately acquainted with violence, and whose very love could be the death of them?

My Review …….
Must admit this is my favourite book in the series.
Lexi is the youngest “sister of the heart”, trauma from her past made her into the scared mouse most people see.
But most people don’t know of her past, and she doesn’t share. But she’s fiercely loyal, and there is nothing she won’t do for her family. She loves the farm she owns with her sisters. She works mainly on her own, but she likes it that way. The bond she shares with the earth is a strong one, crops, flowers and shrubs all grow better under her careful care.
She thinks she’s safe, but can someone that was targeted be really safe? She was taken as a child, her family killed, so that she could be “married” into a new family. Beaten and abused, Lexi managed to escape, but her past has caught up with her!!!
Gavriil is another Prakenskii brother, injured and forced to lay low (the last book, we found out that he’d been gravely injured protecting someone) but he’s found out that someone is targeting his brother’s, so he’s going to draw them away from the farm, he’s willing to lay his life down for his family. He knows only killing and living in the shadows. Finding this young woman on the farm throws his life and control into total chaos.
The book focuses on the couple really well, Lexi has been mentally and physically abused, so instant sex and passion wasn’t going to work in this book. Gavriil is older than Lexi, so at first I didn’t think it would work, would it trigger her memories of her “husband”? So when the author concentrated on the relationship between the couple, rather than the sex, it made for a better read.
Plenty of fight scenes, lots of humour, and some really touching scenes between Gavriil and Lexi. Loved the way his brother’s looked out for Lexi, (including warning him away) they also had a few funny moments with their brother.

The Darkest King (Lords of the Underworld) Book 15 by Gena Showalter

To become a king of the underworld at long last, William must resist an irresistible beauty—or a curse will ensure his end…

A merciless prince feared by all…

Cursed by a vengeful witch, William of the Dark will die if he ever falls in love—murdered by the woman who steals his heart. His lone shot at redemption is a book filled with indecipherable code. Break the code, break the curse. Now, centuries later, he’s condemned to a string of one-night stands…until he finds the only woman in the worlds able to set him free.

A rare creature of myth and power…

One of the last living unicorn shifters, Sunday “Sunny” Lane works from the shadows as a cryptanalyst, on the run from assassins and poachers. Then the darkly seductive William abducts her, holding her captive in Hell. The closer they get, the more she hungers for his touch…and the stronger a mystical desire to kill him becomes…

But which desire will prove stronger—lust or death? And who will give in first?

My Review
This is the book that everyone has been talking about. We’ve known William since the first book. Playboy, killer, protector, and misunderstood demon. But not the demon part, through the books, William has grown, in fact, I’d say the series was all about William and every character he met along the way got a story. The last few books have made it mate about him than the main characters.
We’ve found things out after each book….
We’ve added more backstory to William’s life. And we have seen him grow as a lord.
And to be perfectly honest, I was glad he next got to be with Gillian. She wasn’t for him, never was, I didn’t see it, not even when they first met.
I loved Sunny. She was just what William needed. And the twist, that was amazing. I did have to chuckle, not the shifter or demon or human or even deity that I assumed William would end up with.
The dual personality that Sunny displays was ideal for William. Her killer nature was blood thirsty enough to contend with William’s. But the unsure, the shy part to Sunny was the right balance for William’s protective streak to show through.
The banter these had between them was funny. The caring moments they shared warmed my heart. And Gena knows how to write a love scene.
So William needs a decoder for his book (long ago a witch cursed him) if he can decode the book he will find answers to all the questions he’s had for so long. And maybe he will find his happy ever after. Because until the curse has been broken, William won’t find love.
Sunny is an assassin and decoder, she’s on a mission to destroy the poachers hunting her race, and then it’s onto the destruction of the nine princes of hell.
Finding the code is all William wants, but after spending time with Sunny, he wants his forever, and this crazy shifter is just the one to give it to him.

AirBound A sea Haven novel (A Sister’s of the Heart series) book 3 by Christine Feehan.

Description . . .

For as far back as she can remember, Airiana Ridell has always been aware of her extraordinary gift. She can intuit revealing and illuminating ‘patterns’ in the air around her-whether in a spray of mist, in billowing clouds, or in the dense swirls of an impenetrable fog. Her abilities led to her placement in a secret government training facility when she was a child, but everything changed after her mother was murdered.

Airiana fled the program, but she couldn’t outrun the desperate members of a shadowy cabal who want her, who need her, who will kill to get her. Kidnapped and held aboard a ship bound for dangerous seas, her only chance for rescue is Maxim Prakenskii. He has his reasons for helping her, but he isn’t about to reveal them to Airiana. Not yet. Not as the two are drawn together as moth to flame. Not when there are so many secrets yet untold that could shatter the quaint community of Sea Haven and all who reside there . . .

My Review …..
This is a hard hitting story, full of heartbreak and fast paced action.
Airiana is a genius, she has the ability to read the air around her, it warns her of danger, but she’s never really believed in her ability, she thinks she’s going mad, her brain won’t shut down, she’s going to end up like her mother,
Maxim is another Prakenskii brother. He’s come to take Airiana to see her father, but under the cover of darkness and over his shoulder?! That’s not the normal way to meet a parent you didn’t even know existed!
Together they fight to save their lives and the lives of the children they find aboard the boat. But this isn’t a normal boat, women and children come aboard, but the don’t get off it alive!! Rich men come aboard and play out their fantasies, they are disposable toys!!
Maxim is here to do a job, find the girl and take her to her father, that’s it!! But she gets under his skin, he has a job to do, he’s not here to rescue children, he’s not here to hold this woman and feel emotions, she’s dangerous, and when faced with danger, Maxim usually kills it!!
It’s the same with all the brothers. They are all trained killers. Separated from a young age, beaten and abused, unable to feel emotions, assassins with deadly accuracy. Until they find the only woman to bring them back from the edge of darkness.
Lots of fights, lots of scenes I wish I hadn’t read, but this series just keeps getting better. The interaction between Airiana and Maxim is great, first the animosity, awareness, trust and of course the passion.

Spirit Bound (sisters of the Heart series) book 2 by Christine Feehan

Lethal undercover agent Stefan Prakenskii knew a thousand ways to kills a man–and twice as many ways to pleasure a woman. That’s what made him look forward to his new mission: arrive in the coastal town of Sea Haven and insinuate himself in the life of an elusive beauty who had mysterious ties to his past, and a link to a dangerously seductive, and equally elusive master criminal who wanted only one thing: to possess her.

Judith Henderson was an artist on the rise–an ethereal, and haunted woman whose own picture-perfect beauty stirred the souls of two men who have made her their obsession. For years she has been waiting for someone to come and unlock the passion and fire within her–waiting for the right man to surrender it to. But only one man can survive her secrets, and the shadow she has cast over both their lives.

My Review….

Judith is part of a sisterhood, they aren’t related by blood or marriage, but of a violent past.
Coming together in a support group, the women now live together on a farm, protecting and supporting each other.
Meeting a charismatic man, a young Judith falls in love, and a whirlwind romance follows, but finding out he killed her brother changed all that for her, and so she runs.
Hiding away from the world. Her only comforts are her “sisters” and her talent. She paints, she restores art work and she makes kaleidoscopes.
Stefan is another of Prakenskii brother’s, but he’s not here for his brothers, he’s following a lead, one he hopes will catch him a master criminal.
But meeting Judith in the flesh catches him off guard (he’s seen her in a photo and was instantly attracted, but he’s using her as bait, well that’s what he tells himself)
Have to admit this wasn’t one of my favourite books in this series. But it’s a great addition. We get to meet another Prakenskii brother. And when he marks his woman (they zap the hand and it somehow connects them) they are sealed for life.
We also get to witness the interaction with the brothers (Lev and Stefan) both are going by different names, but there is no mistaking the Prakenskii lineage. You’d think their meeting would be a happy one, but it’s not, Levi suspects his brother of using Judith, and tells him to leave her alone, he loves Judith like a sister, and to make Rikki cry will being out the bear in Lev.

So will Stefan leave Judith once he gets the job done? Will he be able to walk away? And what else is Judith hiding?

WaterBound (A Sister’s of the Heart Series) book 1 by Christine Feehan

The last thing Lev Prakenskii remembered was being lost in the swirling currents of the ocean and getting sucked deeper into the nothingness of a freezing black eddy off the coastal town of Sea Haven. Just as quickly, just a miraculously, he was saved–pulled ashore by a beautiful stranger. But Lev has no memory of who he is–or why he seems to possess the violent instincts of a trained killer. All he knows is that he fears for his life, and for the life of his unexpected savior.

Her name is Rikki, a sea-urchin diver in Sea Haven. She has always felt an affinity for the ocean, and for the seductive pull of the tides. And now she feels drawn in the same way to the enigmatic man she rescued. But soon they will be bound by something even stronger, and their tantalizing secrets will engulf them both in a whirlpool of dizzying passion and inescapable danger.

My Review…..
This series is based in Sea Haven, and one of the heroine’s in this series is actually a cousin to the Drake Sisters.
Lev Prakenskii (Is a brother to Ilya, who’s book is “Turbulent Sea) was on the boat that Elle was held hostage on (her story was Hidden Currents) He tried to save her, tried to get her off the boat, he knew his boss was interested in Elle. He had to standby and watch her being abused, he couldn’t risk saving her and blowing his cover. He bitterly regretted not doing anything, but he knew they both would be killed. But she got away and he was pleased. He wasn’t pleased when his boss found Elle again and tried to take her back. Elle retaliated and now Lev finds himself being blown off the boat and into the sea. But he’s ok with that, he’s done his job, he doesn’t need to worry about anything anymore…..
Rikki loves the water, that is where she is at home. The sea grounds her, keeps her calm. And diving for sea urchins, gives her purpose, focus and an excuse to be out on the water. Rikki lost her whole family due to a violent tragedy, back bad things always seem to happen around her, is she a jinx? Or is there something more sinister going on? And when she comes across a man in the water, Rikki has to decide wether to rescue him or let the sea claim him…..
Rikki hates anything that disturbs her peace of mind or her routine. And Lev does that on all levels, after rescuing him, he becomes a firm fixture in her life, but there is his memory loss to worry about, and the fact that he feels dangerous to Rikki and her way of life.
And when her “sisters” meet him (they aren’t blood related, they met at a self help group for abused women) they don’t like him, but Rikki sees past the harsh exterior, and maybe, just maybe Rikki will keep him.
Lev (or Levi as the name he now goes under) is suffering from memory loss, but he knows how to handle a gun. And as his memory returns, he’s worried his old life will come back and harm the woman he’s falling in love with.
I loved this book, it handled Rikki’s issues with care and sensitivity. Being autistic and having a life, was written really carefully. We never forgot that Rikki was different, and to find a man that would treat her with respect and love was love to to read. So many heroines are either kick ass or helpless, Rikki was neither. She is strong, independent, but very rigid in her daily life.
So will Levi and Rikki have a life by the sea? Or will both their pasts come back and haunt them?
