My Review ……
This book has had so many people that read the authors series divided. It was thought that Gary and Gabrielle would be together, wether it be as human, or later as both became Carpathian, lifemates. Now me personally, I didn’t really want them together, and when I found out Gabby would get another lifemate, I did a little cheer…..
So here is my review on Dark Promises …..
For so long Gabby has loved Gary, both are geeks (a love of science and not fitting in with society created a bond that Gabby thought would last forever) but after Gabby was turned Carpathian (in Dark Demon) and Gary was turned into a Carpathian male, she knew it would only be a matter of time before they were separated, males need their other halves in order to remain Carpathian and not turn into a vampire. Gabby was sure they were lifemates, her feelings for him were just as strong. So they plan to run away and marry, ensuring they won’t be parted (to be fair it’s Gabby’s decision, Gary is going along to make her happy, so that tells you something is wrong already)
On the day of the wedding, Gabby is so very happy, she planning to marry the man she has loved for years (and then she wants them to leave the Carpathian Mountains and just be together) they are marrying in secret (again that tells me, they know it’s wrong) just as they are sharing their vows, Gary becomes emotionally withdrawn (to cut a long story short, in order to save Gary, they turned him into a Carpathian, but they chose such a strong warrior lineage, that he becomes emotionless and stops seeing in colour) and tells her he can’t do it. He needs her to be happy, but it’s not with him. It’s tearing him up, it’s always been Gabby, but as the colour goes from his life, so will emotions, if she was his lifemate, then colour wouldn’t be leaving him.
Gabby is heartbroken, all her dreams have ended, and when Gary decides to leave for a monastery to protect humans and Carpathian’s Gabby decides to follow.
Trixie is hunting down her granddaughter, the lady she heard was her daughter living in a monastery with her “husband”, but she doesn’t believe it, she wants so see with her own eyes that her granddaughter is safe. So she packs her “vampire kit” and sets off for the Carpathian Mountains …..
Getting to the monastery proves a trial in itself for Gabby, but she’s determined to prove to Gary and everyone else that they are meant to be together…..
Trixie’s granddaughter is none other than Teagan (Dark Ghost) lifemate to Andre (the Ghost) and when Trixie finally catches up with her, she gets more than she bargains for, a whole lot more ……
